    Abstract Background: Recently, two types of safety compliance behaviors including deep compliance and surface compliance were differentiated. The current study aimed to investigate the relationships among safety leadership, safety climate, psychological contract of safety (PCS), risk perception, and deep compliance and surface compliance behavior of workers. In addition, the effects of both deep and surface compliance on safety outcomes were considered.
    Methods: Workers' perceptions in terms of safety leadership, safety climate, PCS, risk perception, deep compliance, and surface compliance were measured by appropriate questionnaires. Three questions were asked to measure undesired safety outcomes. Structural equation modeling and correlation analysis were applied to examine the research model and relationships among variables.
    Results and discussion: The results of the current study showed that deep compliance was positively predicted by safety leadership, safety climate, and PCS and negatively predicted by risk perception. Surface compliance was positively predicted by safety leadership and safety climate and negatively predicted by risk perception. Surface compliance is not significantly predicted by PCS. With regard to the adverse safety outcomes, the results showed that both deep and surface compliance were negatively associated with adverse safety outcomes, however, deep compliance had a stronger negative correlation with adverse safety outcomes than surface compliance.

    Abstract Context: Hip muscle imbalance, especially between gluteal muscles and tensor fasciae latae (TFL), is one of the risk factors for developing low back pain which should be considered in rehabilitation programs. This study compared the effect of exercises with gluteal-to-TFL muscle activation index above and below 50 on pain intensity, disability, and lower limbs' range of motion (ROM) in patients with nonspecific chronic low back pain.
    Design: A semiexperimental intervention study with a pretest and posttest.
    Methods: A total of 45 patients with nonspecific chronic low back pain were randomly divided into 2 experimental groups of gluteal-to-TFL muscle activation index above 50 (n = 15), below 50 (n = 15), and a control group (n = 15). Pain intensity (visual analog scale), disability (Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire), and lower limbs' ROM including hip extension, hip abduction, hip external rotation, and knee extension (goniometer) were assessed at pretest and after 8 weeks of intervention.
    Results: Within-group comparison showed significant improvement of pain, disability, and ROMs in both experimental groups. No significant changes were observed in the control group. In between-group analysis, significant differences were observed in group of gluteal-to-TFL muscle activation index above 50 for only pain (P = .03) and disability (P = .01). For ROMs, although clinical improvement of lower limbs' ROMs was higher in group of gluteal-to-TFL muscle activation index above 50, no statistically significant differences were found between 2 experimental groups. Both experimental groups were superior to the control group for all outcomes.
    Conclusions: Findings indicate the statistically and clinically superior effectiveness of exercises with a gluteal-to-TFL muscle activation index above 50 in the reduction of pain and disability. Based on the clinical significance of exercises with a gluteal-to-TFL muscle activation index above 50 for improving ROMs, utilizing specific exercises that more activated gluteal muscle compared to TFL is recommended for patient with restricted lower limbs' ROMs.

    Abstract Introduction: The importance of safety in high-risk industries such as oil and gas facilities has been reported previously. Process safety performance indicators can provide insight into improving the safety of process industries. This paper aims to rank the process safety indicators (metrics) by Fuzzy Best-Worst Method (FBWM) using the data gathered through a survey.
    Method: The study uses a structured approach considering the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), and the IOGP (International Association of Oil and Gas Producers) recommendations and guidelines to generate an aggregate set of indicators. It calculates the level of importance of each indicator based on the opinions of experts from Iran and some Western countries.
    Results: The findings of the study demonstrate that some lagging indicators such as the number of times processes do not proceed as planned due to insufficient staff competence and the number of unexpected disruptions of the process due to failure in instrumentation and alarms are important in process industries in both Iran and Western countries. Western experts identified process safety incident severity rate as an important lagging indicator, whereas Iranian experts considered this as relatively unimportant. In addition, leading indicators such as sufficient process safety training and competency, the desired function of instrumentation and alarms, and proper management of fatigue risk play an important role in enhancing the safety performance of process industries. Experts in Iran viewed permit to work as an important leading indicator, while experts in the West focused on fatigue risk management.
    Practical applications: The methodology used in the current study gives a good view to managers and safety professionals in regard to the most important indicators of process safety and allows them to focus more on important process safety indicators.

    Abstract Background and aims: β-Thalassemia patients may have cardiac complications due to iron overload, which puts them at higher risk of cardiac complications induced by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared with the normal population. The present study aims to evaluate early cardiovascular complications following iron overload in β-thalassemia patients who had early recovery from COVID-19 by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and feature-tracking technique.
    Methods: Thirty-two confirmed COVID-19-recovered β-thalassemia cases were evaluated within 3 weeks to 3 months after a positive reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction COVID-19 test. Both the heart and liver of all patients were examined using cardiac MRI.
    Results: We analyzed 32 patients with mean age of 32.84 ± 6.45 years at baseline. Left ventricular global strain values were significantly associated with myocardial T2*. A cut-off value of -15.08% for global longitudinal strain (GLS) with sensitivity and specificity of 90% and 61.1% (
    Conclusion: GLS, GRS, and GCS were significantly decreased in patients with myocardial T2* <20 ms (iron overload), while no significant change was observed in the right and left ventricular ejection fraction (RV- and LVEF). Cardiac MRI feature-tracking may be helpful in the early detection of cardiac complications resulting from iron overload in β-thalassemia patients who had early recovery from COVID-19.

    Abstract Traffic accidents are considered a major public health problem in many countries. The aim of this study was to explore the relationships between traffic climate factors (i.e., external affective demands, functionality and internal requirements), driver behaviours, dangerous driving behaviours and traffic accident involvement among taxi drivers. A total of 450 male taxi drivers participated in the study. The traffic climate scale (TCS), the driver behaviour questionnaire (DBQ), the positive driver behaviours scale (PDBS) and the Dula dangerous driving index (DDDI) were used to measure driving behaviours and traffic conditions. The results showed that there was a significant negative correlation between functionality (of the TCS) and the number of accident involvement. Further analysis demonstrated that the effect of risky driving (of the DDDI) on accident involvement was significant. Taken together, these findings suggest that functional traffic systems and driving environments play important roles in traffic accident involvement.

    Abstract Background: Tooth decay is one of the most common chronic diseases among children worldwide. Stress and body mass index are also amongst the arguable risk factors which will affect people considerably. They include biological (hormones and blood sugar), socio-economic, and environmental factors and also lifestyle. In the present study, the relationship between tooth decay with stress and BMI in children was therefore investigated.
    Materials and methods: This was a cross-sectional study of a descriptive-analytical type. A total of 350 students who were referred to the clinic of the faculty of dentistry at Qazvin University of Medical Sciences during 2021-2022 were selected through convenience sampling method to participate in the study. First, the students underwent a dental examination after being measured on their height and weight. Then, two questionnaires; namely, demographic information and Children's Stress Symptom Scale (CSSS) of Scherer and Ryan-Wenger were completed by the children's parents through self-reporting. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software version 23 and then descriptive statistics and logistic regression were applied.
    Results: The mean BMI of the participating students was in the normal range. The prevalence of tooth decay among participants was 76.9% (269 people). The mean and standard deviation of stress scores was 6.85 ± 4.01 out of 26, which was at a low level. Also, the mean and standard deviation of the BMI were 22.78 ± 5.28, which was within the normal range. The results of the logistic regression showed that the variables of "father's level of education," "family's economic status," "the experience of the toothache during the past year," "the oral health status," "the frequency of tooth brushing," "flossing," "stress," and "BMI" were influential factors in tooth decay (
    Conclusion: Students who had improper BMI, more stress, less educated fathers, families with poor economic status, the experience of toothache within the past year, poor oral health status, and those who used toothbrushes and floss to a minimal degree suffered more tooth decay. Therefore, it is necessary that we pay more attention to these students in designing and implementing educational programs to prevent tooth decay.
