Abstract Objectives: To determine validity of the CLL International prognostic index (IPI) scoring system in Pakistani chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients, as the validity and universal applicability of various prognostic scoring systems such as the CLL-IPI remains a challenge, particularly in under-developed countries like Pakistan.
Methods: This prospective single center study was conducted at Department of Hematology, University of Health Sciences, Lahore and included sixty patients with CLL diagnosed between July, 2019 to July, 2022. Patients were followed for a period of two years and 02 year overall survival (OS) was noted. Risk stratification was conducted according to CLL-IPI prognostic model.
Results: Among 60 patients, the mean age was 60±11years. Advanced Binet stage B+C and elevated β2-microglobulin >3.5mg/L was observed in 73.3% and 38.3% patients respectively. The estimated median 02 years OS was 16.5 months (95% CI: 10-20 months). In total, 40 of 60 CLL patients (67%) were accessible for follow-up analyses. For the present CLL cohort, 25% patients (n = 10) were classified as CLL-IPI low risk and intermediate risk group, 35% (n = 14) as high risk and 15% (n = 06) as very high-risk group. However, this classification of patients according to CLL-IPI did not yield significant differences in terms of OS (
Conclusion: To conclude, clinical validation of CLL-IPI scoring system could not be established for the present CLL cohort and needs to be evaluated in further studies with larger sample size.

Abstract Mycoplasma bovis is a highly contagious pathogen that causes clinical or subclinical mastitis. The present study was aimed for the isolation, molecular characterization and antibiogram determination of M. bovis from raw milk samples. Milk samples were collected randomly from lactating cows and buffaloes from different tehsils of district Faisalabad, Pakistan. Samples were inoculated on modified Hayflick medium and biochemical tests were performed for further confirmation of isolated M. bovis. Out of total 400 milk samples, 184 (46%) samples were found positive for culture method. The 16S-rRNA gene polymerase chain reaction was performed for molecular characterization of isolated M. bovis strains. Out of total 400 milk samples, 240 (60%) positive for M. bovis through PCR method were examined. The 16S-rRNA gene PCR positive isolated M. bovis strains were sequenced and results were compared using Maximum-likelihood method and sequenced strains of M. bovis were aligned and analyzed by Clustal W software. Antibiogram of isolated M. bovis strains was analyzed by disc diffusion assay against eight commonly used antibiotics. Tylosin (30μg) and Tilmicosin (15ug) showed inhibition zones of 32.34 ± 1.10 mm and 17.12 ± 0.93 mm respectively against isolated M. bovis which were found sensitive. Isolated M. bovis was found resistant to other commonly used antibiotics. Statistical analysis revealed that p-value was < 0.05 and the odds ratio was >1.0 at 95% CI. This study complemented the lack of epidemiological knowledge of molecular characterization, comparative effectiveness and resistance trends of isolated M. bovis strains against commonly used antibiotics.

Abstract This work deals with a systematic approach for the investigation of compound difference anti-synchronization (CDAS) scheme among chaotic generalized Lotka-Volterra biological systems (GLVBSs). First, an active control strategy (ACS) of nonlinear type is described which is specifically based on Lyapunov's stability analysis (LSA) and master-slave framework. In addition, the biological control law having nonlinear expression is constructed for attaining asymptotic stability pattern for the error dynamics of the discussed GLVBSs. Also, simulation results through MATLAB environment are executed for illustrating the efficacy and correctness of considered CDAS approach. Remarkably, our attained analytical outcomes have been in outstanding conformity with the numerical outcomes. The investigated CDAS strategy has numerous significant applications to the fields of encryption and secure communication.

Abstract The present study was planned to investigate the changes in morphological and biochemical parameters of in vitro-grown potato (cultivar Cardinal and Desiree) plants under osmotic stress conditions induced by various concentrations of sorbitol, mannitol (0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.10, or 0.15 M), sucrose (0, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8%), and polyethylene glycol (PEG: MW-4000: 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20%). Nodal segments (ca. 1.0 cm) from healthy in vitro-grown potato plantlets were inoculated on Murashige and Skoog’s medium consisting of various levels of above mentioned drought stress-inducing agents. Data was recorded on 60ᵗʰ day of incubation exhibited a severe reduction in most of the growth parameters at 0.10 and 0.15 M of sorbitol and mannitol, respectively, and at 5–10% PEG. Similar results were observed when the sucrose level varied from 3% except for the number of roots and plant dry weight, which exhibited an increase in increasing the sucrose level. Data collected for total soluble protein content and activity of an antioxidant enzyme (superoxide dismutase) unveiled an overall increasing trend in osmotically stressed potato plants suggesting their major action in detoxification of active oxygen species produced under osmotic stress. Polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, and spermine) increased significantly in both the cultivars of potato by using osmotic stress-inducing agent in the present investigation indicating their positive role in stress alleviation. Overall results indicated that potato cultivar Desiree was more stress-tolerant than the cultivar Cardinal.

Abstract Organic hole transport materials (HTMs) have been frequently used to achieve high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) in regular perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, organic HTMs or their ingredients are costly and time-consuming to manufacture. Therefore, one of the hottest research topics in this area has been the quest for an efficient and economical inorganic HTM in PSCs. To promote efficient charge extraction and, hence, improve overall efficiency, it is crucial to look into the desirable properties of inorganic HTMs. In this context, a simulation investigation using a solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS) was carried out on the performance of regular PSCs using inorganic HTMs. Several inorganic HTMs, such as nickel oxide (NiO), cuprous oxide (Cu

Abstract The conventional post-annealing (CPA) process is frequently employed and regarded a crucial step for high-quality perovskite thin-films. However, most researchers end up with unwanted characteristics because controlling the evaporation rate of perovskite precursor solvents during heat treatment is difficult. Most perovskite thin-films result in rough surfaces with pinholes and small grains with multiple boundaries, if the evaporation of precursor solvents is not controlled in a timely manner, which negatively affects the performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, we present a surface-confined post-annealing (SCPA) approach for controlling the evaporation of perovskite precursor solvents and promoting crystallinity, homogeneity, and surface morphology of the resulting perovskites. The SCPA method not only modulates the evaporation of residual solvents, resulting in pinhole-free thin-films with large grains and fewer grain boundaries, but it also reduces recombination sites and facilitates the transport of charges in the resulting perovskite thin-films. When the method is changed from CPA to SCPA, the power conversion efficiency of PSC improves from 18.94% to 21.59%. Furthermore, as compared to their CPA-based counterparts, SCPA-based PSCs have less hysteresis and increased long-term stability. The SCPA is a potentially universal method for improving the performance and stability of PSCs by modulating the quality of perovskite thin-films.

Abstract Simplifying the design of lead-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has drawn a lot of interest due to their low manufacturing cost and relative non-toxic nature. Focus has been placed mostly on reducing the toxic lead element and eliminating the requirement for expensive hole transport materials (HTMs). However, in terms of power conversion efficiency (PCE), the PSCs using all charge transport materials surpass the environmentally beneficial HTM-free PSCs. The low PCEs of the lead-free HTM-free PSCs could be linked to poorer hole transport and extraction as well as lower light harvesting. In this context, a lead-free perovskite homojunction-based HTM-free PSC was investigated, and the performance was then assessed using a Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator (SCAPS). A two-step method was employed to fabricate lead-free perovskite homojunction-based HTM-free PSCs in order to validate the simulation results. The simulation results show that high hole mobility and a narrow band gap of cesium tin iodide (CsSnI

Abstract Simplifying device layout, particularly avoiding the complex fabrication steps and multiple high-temperature treatment requirements for electron-selective layers (ESLs) have made ESL-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) attractive. However, the poor perovskite/substrate interface and inadequate quality of solution-processed perovskite thin films induce inefficient interfacial-charge extraction, limiting the power conversion efficiency (PCEs) of ESL-free PSCs. A highly compact and homogenous perovskite thin film with large grains was formed here by inserting an interfacial monolayer of diethanolamine (DEA) molecules between the perovskite and ITO substrate. In addition, the DEA created a favorable dipole layer at the interface of perovskite and ITO substrate by molecular adsorption, which suppressed charge recombination. Comparatively, PSCs based on DEA-treated ITO substrates delivered PCEs of up to 20.77%, one of the highest among ESL-free PSCs. Additionally, this technique successfully elongates the lifespan of ESL-free PSCs as 80% of the initial PCE was maintained after 550 h under AM 1.5 G irradiation at ambient temperature.

Abstract Google proposed a new TCP congestion control algorithm (CCA), Bottleneck Bandwidth and Round-trip propagation time (BBR) which has opened up new dimensions in congestion control. BBR tries to operate near Kleinrock's operating point to avoid excessive queue formation at the bottleneck and to use the link bandwidth optimally. BBR creates a model of the network path by measuring the bottleneck bandwidth and minimum round-trip time (RTT) to maximize the delivery rate and minimize latency. BBR v2 is an updated version of BBR which addresses many shortcomings of the original BBR (BBR v1) such as interprotocol fairness, RTT fairness, and excessive retransmissions. However, BBR v2 has certain limitations in its operation in IEEE 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) networks. The default BBR v2 limits the throughput of Wi-Fi 5 and an increased latency has been observed. This is because the Wi-Fi 5 frame aggregation logic is underutilized and fewer frames are being sent to the Wi-Fi 5 interface. In this paper, we have proposed BBR-n (BBR new) which provides better throughput than the generic BBR v2 in the Wi-Fi 5 networks. Real-time experiments were performed over a physical testbed using Flent to confirm that BBR-n achieves over double throughput as compared to generic BBR v2 and reduced latency in networks as compared to pure loss-based variants such as Cubic and Reno.
