    Abstract Introduction: birth control has been a constant concern since the dawn of humankind. Preconception risk control and management is of crucial importance, it is conditioned by a series of factors, diseases, unique or associated circumstances that may adversely affect the mother-child binomial during gestation, childbirth or puerperium. Objective: to characterize preconception reproductive risk factors women of childbearing ages, belonging to the medical offices No- 26 and No-46 of San Juan and Martinez municipality in 2016. Methods: an observational, descriptive and longitudinal study was carried out, the target group comprised 117 women of childbearing ages from the chosen clinics and the sample included 53 women who met the inclusion criteria. Data were summarized in absolute and relative frequencies. Results: there was predominance of the age group between 30 and 39 years old, in the majority of them hypertension was found as an associated chronic disease, as gynecological conditions the most representative were vulvovaginitis, and as obstetric risk factor, shorter intergenesis period predominated. Mild preeclampsia prevailed as a complication of previous pregnancy and smoking was the most common toxic habit. Conclusions: preconception reproductive risk was characterized in women of childbearing age; therefore it contributes to greater awareness and follow-up in family planning clinics.

    Abstract Se realizó una investigación longitudinal-descriptiva y prospectiva en los acueductos "Hoyo de Mena y Hermanos Saíz" de San Juan y Martínez en el período comprendido de enero de 2009 a diciembre de 2010, donde se caracterizó la calidad del agua a través de exámenes de laboratorio en las redes de distribución. El objetivo de esta investigación estuvo dirigido a evaluar la calidad sanitaria del agua suministrada por ambos sistemas en los Consejos Populares estudiados a través de exámenes bacteriológicos y físico químico. Quedó demostrado en la investigación realizada la mala calidad del agua suministrada por los acueductos "Hoyo de Mena con el 81% y Hermanos Saíz" , con un 78% de potabilidad respectivamente durante el año 2009, por la inestabilidad en el suministro de hipoclorito de sodio y roturas de los equipos de cloración, siendo más significativo en "Hermanos Saíz" por las deficiencias descritas con anterioridad durante el año 2010; se reportó el 81,9% de potabilidad y el 90.6 % en el Consejo Popular Urbano y evaluó el agua suministrada por estos sistemas de mala calidad en este período. Con todos los resultados obtenidos en el período analizado fueron confeccionadas tablas; se realizó el cálculo estadístico de X², con un nivel del significación del 95 %. A longitudinal-descriptive, prospective research was conducted at “Hoyo de Mena and Hermanos Saiz” aqueducts in San Juan y Martinez during January 2009 to December 2010, where the quality of water was characterized following laboratory examinations in water-supply networks. By means of this research the hygienic quality of water was assessed through bacterial and physical-chemical examinations; which water is supplied by both systems in the Popular Councils under studies. The quality of water supplied by “Hoyo de Mena (81%) and Hermanos Saiz (78%)” presented a poor quality during 2009 respectively, due to the unstable availability of chlorine and ruptures of chlorination equipments, mainly at “Hermanos Saiz”, because of the deficiencies already mentioned ...

    Abstract Introducción: el Asesoramiento Genético actualmente constituye el medio más efectivo de prevención de las enfermedades genéticas, siendo este un eslabón importante en el desarrollo de los programas de la Genética Médica Comunitaria. Objetivo: caracterizar la efectividad y el estado de los servicios de Asesoramiento Genético en el municipio de San Juan y Martínez, Provincia Pinar del Río en el período comprendido entre los años 2003-2009. Material y método: se realizó un estudio retrospectivo de tipo descriptivo de corte transversal. Se seleccionó mediante un muestreo no probabilístico a 50 familias. Se aplicó una entrevista que evaluó diferentes variables tales como la efectividad del Asesoramiento Genético, la satisfacción con los servicios de asesoramiento genético, los aspectos éticos del asesoramiento genético entre otras. Resultados: se obtuvo una mejoría de los indicadores de cobertura de los programas de genética en el último período, para un alto por ciento de los encuestados fue buena la efectividad del asesoramiento genético y están satisfechos con el servicio de asesoramiento genético. Conclusiones: con el presente trabajo se demuestra la caracterización de los servicios de asesoramiento genético, siendo evaluado de favorable la efectividad del asesoramiento genético, así como los servicios y el desempeño de los másteres en Asesoramiento Genético. Introduction: currently genetic counseling constitutes the most effective way to prevent genetic diseases, which is a very important link to the development of Community Medical Genetics. Objective: to characterize the effectiveness and state of Genetic Counseling in San Juan y Martinez, Pinar del Rio province during 2003-2009.     Abstract Introducción: el estudio de la problemática del anciano constituye un elemento de primordial importancia y aparece como un factor decisivo en las investigaciones médicas. Esto se debe al incremento de la población mayor de 65 años, calculada en más de 290 millones de personas con un aumento creciente en las últimas décadas. Objetivo: identificar los factores socio-epidemiológicos asociados a los accidentes en el anciano en el municipio San Juan y Martínez durante el año 2011. Material y método: se realizó una investigación descriptiva y transversal, el universo estuvo constituido por 615 ancianos que sufrieron algún tipo de accidentes registrados en hojas de cargo y la muestra de 300 ancianos, seleccionados por el método aleatorio estratificado. Se utilizaron como métodos la encuesta y la observación científica lo que permitió obtener una información variada y directa. Resultados: se obtuvo un predominio del sexo masculino, con edades comprendidas entre 71 y 75 años, las enfermedades asociadas que predominaron en el hombre fueron las del sistema osteomioarticular y en las mujeres la hipertensión arterial. La alteración intrínseca más frecuente fue la ingestión de medicamentos con un 90.2 % y el factor extrínseco los desniveles del piso con el 70.3 %. Conclusiones: entre los factores socio-epidemiológicos asociados a los accidentes en el an ciano predominan las enfermedades del sistema osteomioarticular, así como la ingestión de medicamentos y las barreras arquitectónicas (desniveles del piso).     Abstract Pelvic floor disorders, the impact of their symptoms, and their association with sleep quality and sleep disorders is a little studied area. The aim of this study was to determine if an association exists between pelvic floor disorders in women and sleep disorders. An observational study was conducted among women in Spain during 2021 and 2022. A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect sociodemographic and employment data, previous medical history and health status, lifestyle and habits, obstetric history, and health problems. A validated questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), was used to assess the quality of sleep. The presence and impact of pelvic floor problems was assessed with the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI-20). Odds ratios (OR) and adjusted odds ratios (aOR) with their respective 95% confidence intervals were calculated using logistic regression. A total of 1396 women participated in the study. The total PSQI indicated that 75.36% (1052) of women have altered general sleep quality. Women with pelvic floor disorders have a higher probability of developing sleep alterations (aOR: 1.32; 95% CI: 1.22-1.42; for every 20 points). A high BMI (aOR: 1.04; 95% CI: 1.01-1.07; for each point) and the presence of musculoskeletal disorders (aOR: 3.14; 95% CI: 1.20-8.27) are also associated with sleep quality in women. Women with pelvic floor disorders are more likely to develop sleep disorders, probably due to all the discomfort they entail.
