Abstract In recent years, the strong growth of cultural and creative industries has led to its occupying an increasingly important position in the social economy. The inheritance and development of traditional art forms are one of the most important sources of materials for the cultural and creative industries. Product packaging is an important part of visual communication. Under the influence of the rapid development of cultural and creative industries, packaging design has a new development trend. In addition to satisfying basic functions such as protection and transportation, today’s packaging design has also been endowed with some new connotations. The article analyzes the development status and outstanding problems of Chinese packaging design. Combined with the significance of cultural and creative industries to packaging design, innovative explorations were carried out on various elements in the process of packaging design. The study found that in the analysis of the contribution of cultural and creative industries to the economy, the cultural and creative industries of City A have been showing a growth trend since 2015. And among the design concepts of environmental protection, emotional attention, and integration of Chinese and Western design concepts selected in packaging design, more than 80% of consumers agree to integrate environmental protection concepts into packaging design. A total of 67% of the public are in favor of incorporating the concept of emotional care into the design. A total of 54% of the public agree with the design concept of combining Chinese and Western. Understanding the preferences of customers is beneficial to making packaging design a highlight of product sales.

Abstract The low-carbon transition is a systemic economic and social change that will inevitably have an impact on many areas of the urban system. Has China's ongoing low-carbon transition impacted urban resilience (UR) systems while achieving urban energy saving and carbon emission reduction goals? This paper uses the implementation of the carbon emissions trading pilot policy (CETPP) as a "quasi-natural experiment." It evaluates the impact of the policy on UR using a difference-in-differences model based on the data of prefecture-level cities from 2008 to 2020. The study shows that pilot carbon trading policies favor UR, and the market mechanism of carbon emissions has a heterogeneous cause influence on UR. The impact of pilot carbon trading policies on UR varies according to the respective moderating effects of institutional factors, green technology innovation, industrial structure rationalization, and output effects.

Abstract Using six sweeps of data from the 1958 British National Child Development Study (NCDS), we employ a quasi-parametric approach of propensity score matching to estimate the impacts of higher education attainment on a wide range of health-related outcomes for cohorts at ages 33, 42, and 50. The non-pecuniary benefits of higher education on health are substantial. Cohorts with higher levels of education are more likely to report better health, maintain a healthy weight, refrain from smoking, exhibit a lower frequency of alcohol consumption, and are less likely to be obese. The effects on self-reported health, body mass index (BMI), drinking alcohol increase with age, but continuously decrease with smoking frequency. When considering gender heterogeneity, higher education has a more significant effect on BMI and the likelihood of obesity for males, while it has a greater impact on self-reported health, drinking alcohol, and smoking frequencies for females. Furthermore, we find no significant evidence that higher education reduces the likelihood of depression. The results of the Rosenbaum bounds sensitivity analysis suggest that, although our overall results demonstrate robustness, there may still be unobserved hidden bias in the relationship between higher education and self-reported health.

Abstract The catalytic performance of a catalyst is significantly influenced by its ability to activate hydrogen. Constructing frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) with the capacity for hydrogen dissociation on non-reducible supports remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we employed a straightforward method to synthesize a layered AlOOH featuring abundant OH defects suitable for constructing solid surface frustrated Lewis pair (ssFLP). The results indicated that the AlOOH-80 (synthesized at 80 °C) possessed an appropriate crystalline structure conducive to generating numerous OH defects, which facilitated the formation of ssFLP. This was further evidenced by the minimal water adsorption in the AlOOH-80, inversely correlated with the quantity of defects in the catalyst. As expected, the Pd loaded onto AlOOH (Pd/AlOOH-80) exhibited excellent catalytic activity in hydrogenation reactions, attributed to abundant defects available for constructing ssFLP. Remarkably, the Pd/AlOOH-80 catalyst, with larger-sized Pd nanoparticles, displayed notably superior activity compared to commercial Pd/Al

Abstract Objectives: Gamete and embryo-foetal origins of adult diseases hypothesis proposes that adulthood chronic disorders are associated with adverse foetal and early life traits. Our study aimed to characterise developmental changes and underlying mechanisms of metabolic disorders in offspring of pre-eclampsia (PE) programmed pregnancy.
Methods: Nω-Nitro-l-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride (L-NAME) induced pre-eclampsia-like C57BL/6J mouse model was used. Lipid profiling, histological morphology, indirect calorimetry, mRNA sequencing, and pyrosequencing were performed on PE offspring of both young and elderly ages.
Results: PE offspring exhibited increased postnatal weight gain, hepatic lipid accumulation, enlarged adipocytes, and impaired energy balance that continued to adulthood. Integrated RNA sequencing of foetal and 52-week-old livers revealed that the differentially expressed genes were mainly enriched in lipid metabolism, including glycerol-3-phosphate acyl-transferase 3 (Gpat3), a key enzyme for de novo synthesis of triglycerides (TG), and carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1a (Cpt1a), a key transmembrane enzyme that mediates fatty acid degradation. Pyrosequencing of livers from PE offspring identified hypomethylated and hypermethylated regions in Gpat3 and Cpt1a promoters, which were associated with upregulated and downregulated expressions of Gpat3 and Cpt1a, respectively. These epigenetic alterations are persistent and consistent from the foetal stage to adulthood in PE offspring.
Conclusion: These findings suggest a methylation-mediated epigenetic mechanism for PE-induced intergenerational lipid accumulation, impaired energy balance and obesity in offspring, and indicate the potential benefits of early interventions in offspring exposed to maternal PE to reduce their susceptibility to metabolic disorder in their later life.
