Abstract | Contrast media use is ubiquitous in the catheterization laboratory. Contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is a key concern among patients undergoing coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary interventions. The risk of CA-AKI can be minimized by careful attention to hydration status and renal function-based contrast dosing in all patients. In patients with Stage IV chronic kidney disease, ultra low contrast procedure (contrast dose ≤ GFR) may be especially beneficial. |
