Abstract The rapid technological advancements in the current modern world bring the attention of researchers to fast and real-time healthcare and monitoring systems. Smart healthcare is one of the best choices for this purpose, in which different on-body and off-body sensors and devices monitor and share patient data with healthcare personnel and hospitals for quick and real-time decisions about patients' health. Cognitive radio (CR) can be very useful for effective and smart healthcare systems to send and receive patient's health data by exploiting the primary user's (PU) spectrum. In this paper, tree-based algorithms (TBAs) of machine learning (ML) are investigated to evaluate spectrum sensing in CR-based smart healthcare systems. The required data sets for TBAs are created based on the probability of detection (Pd) and probability of false alarm (Pf). These data sets are used to train and test the system by using fine tree, coarse tree, ensemble boosted tree, medium tree, ensemble bagged tree, ensemble RUSBoosted tree, and optimizable tree. Training and testing accuracies of all TBAs are calculated for both simulated and theoretical data sets. The comparison of training and testing accuracies of all classifiers is presented for the different numbers of received signal samples. Results depict that optimizable tree gives the best accuracy results to evaluate the spectrum sensing with minimum classification error (MCE).

Abstract Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are predominantly caused by uropathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli). There is rapid increase in antimicrobial resistance in UTIs, also declared as a serious health threat by World Health Organization (WHO). Present study was designed to investigate the antimicrobial resistance status with specific focus on ESBLs and carbapenemases in local uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) isolates. E. coli isolates were characterized from patients of all ages visiting diagnostic laboratories for urine examination. Demographic data was also recorded for each patient. Antibiograms were developed to observe antibiotic resistance in UPEC using Kirby Bauer disc diffusion technique. Double Disc Synergy test (DDST) was used for phenotypic ESBL test. ESBLs and carbapenemases genes were detected in UPEC using PCR. The PCR results were confirmed by sequencing. The UPEC isolates under study exhibited 78%, 77%, 74%, 72% and 55% resistance against cefotaxime, amoxicillin, erythromycin, ceftriaxone and cefixime, respectively. Resistance against colistin and meropenem was observed in 64% and 34% isolates, respectively. Phenotypic DDST identified 48% isolates as ESBLs producers. Genotypic characterization identified 70%, 74.4% and 49% prevalence of CTXM-1, TEM-1 and CTXM-15 genes respectively. One isolate was observed exhibiting co-existence of all ESBL genes. TEM-1 + CTXM-1 and TEM-1 + CTXM-1 + CTXM-15 + OXA-1 gene patterns were dominant among ESBLs. For carbapenem-resistance, 14% isolates indicated the presence of KPC whereas GES and VIM was detected in 7% and 3.4% isolates, respectively. In conclusion, our results present a high prevalence of extensively drug resistant UPEC isolates with a considerable percentage of ESBL producers. These findings propose the need of continuous surveillance for antimicrobial resistance and targeted antimicrobial therapy.

Abstract Upper Indus Basin has been a valuable asset as the complexity of structure and hydrocarbon production is the leading producer of oil and gas in history and still to date. Potwar sub-basin has significance in the light of oil production from carbonate reservoirs or Permian to Eocene age reservoirs. Minwal-Joyamair field is very significant and has unique hydrocarbon production history with complexity in structure style and stratigraphy. The complexity is present for carbonate reservoirs of the study area due to heterogeneity of lithological and facies variation. In this research, the emphasis is on integrated advanced seismic and well data for Eocene (Chorgali, Sakesar), Paleocene (Lockhart), and Permian age (Tobra) formations reservoirs. This research's primary focus is to analyze field potential and reservoir characterization by conventional seismic interpretation and petrophysical analysis. Minwal-Joyamair field is a combination of thrust and back thrust, forming a triangle zone in the subsurface. The petrophysical analysis results suggested favorable hydrocarbon saturation in Tobra (74%) and Lockhart (25%) reservoirs in addition to the lower volume of shale (28% and 10%, receptively) and higher effective values (6% and 3%, respectively). The main objective of the study is the re-assessment of a hydrocarbon producing field and describe the future prospectively of the field. The analysis also includes the difference in hydrocarbon production from two different type of reservoir (carbonate & clastic). The findings of this research will be useful for any other similar basins around the world.

Abstract Four commercial viscosity index improvers (VII) have been used to investigate the behavioral differences of these compounds in three types of universally applicable base oils. The used VIIs are structurally three types of co-polymer: ethylene-propylene, star isoprene, and two di-block styrene-isoprene. After dissolving of different amounts of VIIs in different base oils, the kinematic viscosities at two standard temperatures were determined and the intrinsic viscosities were calculated according to Huggins method, then the effects of changes in base oil and polymer type were investigated. Intrinsic viscosities as criteria for polymer molecules sizes were found to be higher at lower temperature than at higher temperature. Dependence of intrinsic viscosity on the polymer molecular weight was observed. In the previous works, one or two types of VIIs were studied in only one type of base oil and/or solvent, not different base oils. Furthermore, different ranges of temperatures and concentrations not necessarily applied ranges were selected, but in this work, common base oils and most commercial VIIs were used and the viscometric properties were compared at two temperatures. Viscosities at these temperatures are used for determining VI and definition of lubricant’s viscosity grades. VI improvement is the main cause of VII usage.

Abstract Unconventional hydrocarbon exploration is needed in the current oil and gas crisis scenario. Therefore, the development of conditions for unconventional hydrocarbon exploration is needed. In the Upper Indus Basin (UIB), Pakistan, the Patala Formation is one of the potential candidates for this unconventional exploration. It is a proven source rock at the regional level in the Kohat-Potwar sub-basin of UIB. This study aims to evaluate the shale gas potential of the rock in the Minwal-Joyamair area of the sub-basin. Developing a shale rock physics model is important for exploring and developing shale reservoirs due to the difference between unconventional shale and conventional sand reservoirs. These differences include mineral types, mineral characteristics, matrix pores, and fluid properties. To achieve the study's objectives, an integrated strategy provides for evaluating rock physics parameters, petrophysics, and geochemical analyses. This integrated approach indicates that the Patala Formation is a good potential reservoir for shale gas exploration. The Formation has a significant thickness (around 40-50 m), higher total organic carbon content (02-10%), higher brittleness index (0.44-0.56), and relatively shallow depth (2136-3223 m). These research findings suggested that the presence of organic and quartz-rich lithofacies can be considered as highly favorable "sweet spots" for shale-gas exploration in the UIB, Pakistan. Through proper understanding of the spatial and temporal distribution of these "sweet spots", shale-gas exploration can be developed as an effective strategy to exploit shale gas.

Abstract Bimetallic iron-nickel (FeNi) compounds are widely studied materials for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) owing to their high electrocatalytic performance and low cost. In this work, we produced thin films of the FeNi alloy on nickel foam (NF) by using an aerosol-assisted chemical deposition (AACVD) method and examined their OER catalytic activity. The hybrid FeNi/Ni catalysts obtained after 1 and 2 h of AACVD deposition show improved charge transfer and kinetics for the OER due to the strong interface between the FeNi alloy and Ni support. The FeNi/Ni-2h catalyst has higher catalytic activity than the FeNi/Ni-1h catalyst because of its nanoflower morphology that provides a large surface area and numerous active sites for the OER. Therefore, the FeNi/Ni-2h catalyst exhibits low overpotentials of 300 and 340 mV at 50 and 500 mA cm
