Abstract Unlike much research on work engagement, there is not much literature focused on managers that discuss their job demands and resources related to digital challenges in today's organizations. Grounded in the JD-R model and considering the current digital world context, we build four research propositions and offer a work engagement framework that considers the boundary conditions of digital managerial tasks. Our conceptual framework relates the new job demands and resources to digital managerial tasks: digital adoption tasks and digital business model tasks. This conceptual article has theoretical and practical implications for organizational psychology, organizational behavior, and strategic management scholars and practitioners interested in studying managers' work engagement and digital managerial tasks.

Abstract Background: This article aims to share the initial experience of the preperitoneal eTEP approach and its potential benefits in a selected group of patients. The eTEP Rives-Stoppa is a proven minimally invasive surgical technique for the treatment of ventral midline and off-midline hernias that has shown to be a solid, durable, and reproducible repair. The preperitoneal eTEP repair is a surgical technique that brings together the extraperitoneal access surgery with a preperitoneal repair for primary midline hernias avoiding posterior rectus sheath division and preservation of the retrorectus space while being able to treat simultaneous diastasis recti.
Methods: The analysis included 33 patients operated with the preperitoneal eTEP approach from September 2022 to September 2023 in patients with primary small to medium (< 4 cm) midline hernias, single or multiple defects with or without diastasis recti. Age, gender, hernia characteristics, operative time, and surgical site occurrences will be discussed, as well as fine details and landmarks in the operative technique.
Results: 33 consecutive patients were operated, 19 female (57.5%) and 14 males (42.5%) between 32 and 63 years of age, the most common comorbidity found was obesity (BMI > 30). In 70% of the cases, operative time was 90 min ± 25 min. The average hospital stay was one day, while 12 went home the same day, and so far, no reoccurrences have been reported.
Conclusions: We believe the preperitoneal eTEP approach for small to medium primary midline hernias is an effective and solid repair that combines excellent features of proven surgical techniques and eliminates the need for posterior rectus sheath division while saving the retrorectus space, among other benefits that will be discussed. The reproducibility of the technique remains to be proven.

Abstract Temporomandibular joint intra-articular disorders are commonly managed using arthroscopic-assisted procedures. Arthroscopic procedures are minimally invasive, generally successful, and report a low frequency of complications. Vascular complications are particularly uncommon. This case report summarizes the diagnosis and management of jugular vein thrombosis following temporomandibular joint arthroscopy.

Abstract This paper proposes a kinetic theory approach coupling together the modeling of crowd evacuation from a bounded domain with exit doors and infectious disease contagion. The spatial movement of individuals in the crowd is modeled by a proper description of the interactions with people in the crowd and the environment, including walls and exits. At the same time, interactions among healthy and infectious individuals may generate disease spreading if exposure time is long enough. Immunization of the population and individual awareness to contagion is considered as well. Interactions are modeled by tools of game theory, that let us propose the so-called tables of games that are introduced in the general kinetic equations. The proposed model is qualitatively studied and, through a series of case studies, we explore different scenarios related to crowding and gathering formation within indoor venues under the spread of a respiratory infectious disease, obtaining insights on specific policies to reduce contagion that may be implemented.

Abstract Developmental plasticity allows organisms to adjust life-history traits to varying environmental conditions, which can have concomitant effects across life stages. Many amphibians are suitable model systems to study plasticity because their larvae can adjust growth and differentiation under fluctuating environments. It is unknown, however, whether somatic and gonadal differentiation are equally affected by environmentally induced plasticity or whether their decoupling alters gonadal maturation postmetamorphosis, which may affect fitness. We tested if developmental acceleration in response to warming and desiccation risk results in shifts in gonadal maturation during metamorphosis and postmetamorphic growth in western spadefoot toads (Pelobates cultripes). We found additive effects of increased temperature and desiccation risk on development and growth at metamorphosis, which largely constrained gonadal maturation in metamorphic and postmetamorphic individuals of both sexes. Furthermore, the conditions experienced by larvae incurred sex-specific carryover effects on the gonadal maturation of juveniles 5 months after metamorphosis. In females, high temperature delayed ovarian maturation regardless of the water level. In males, exposure to high temperature and high water levels slightly delayed the testes' maturation. These results highlight the relevance of larval plasticity in the gonadal maturation of species undergoing metamorphosis, which may have implications for population demographics and the evolution of life histories.

Abstract Waldenström's disease is a rare lymphoproliferative syndrome in the bone marrow and sometimes in lymphoid organs which secretes high amounts of monoclonal immunoglobulin M into serum. It can remain indolent for years and rarely affects the kidney, with intraglomerular rather than intratubular damage being predominant, in contrast to multiple myeloma. Different studies identified AL amyloidosis as the most frequent renal lesion, followed by cryoglobulinemic glomerulonephritis. Signs and symptoms may be unspecific, as well as renal manifestations, so collaboration between nephrologists, hematologists, and pathologists is crucial to establish the role of paraprotein in the development of renal damage. We present an atypical case of Waldenström's disease that had a minimal monoclonal peak and clinically debuted with nephritic and nephrotic syndromes. The diagnosis was cryoglobulinemic glomerulonephritis. Currently, there are numerous treatment options, without enough evidence yet to establish a standardised treatment.
