Title translation The Importance of Socioeconomic Status in the Occurrence of Mental Health Problems in 11- to 17-Year-Old Girls and Boys in Germany: Results of KiGGS Wave 2 (2014-2017).
Abstract Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to investigate the distribution pattern of mental health problems (emotional problems, conduct problems, peer problems, hyperactivity) among different socioeconomic groups of 11- to 17-year-old girls and boys.
Methods: Data for this study were obtained from the "German Health Interview and Examination Survey for Children and Adolescents KiGGS Wave 2" (2012-2014, n=15,023). The data on 11- to 17-year-old girls and boys (n=6599) was analyzed overall and separately for two age groups. The dependent variable was the parental version of the "Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire" (SDQ). As non-dependent variable, a multidimensional index was used, which indicates the socioeconomic status (SES) of the family. Prevalence and odds ratios (ORs) based on logistic regressions are shown.
Results: The prevalence of reporting mental health problems in those aged 11 to 17 was 15.7%. Girls were more likely to show internalizing problems whilst boys were more likely to show externalizing problems. The 11- to 17-year-old adolescents with a low SES were about two times (aOR: 2.32; 95%-CI: 1.81-2.97; p<0.001) more likely to report mental health problems. Adolescent girls with a low SES were at a twofold (aOR: 2.06; 95%-CI: 1.49-2.98; p<0.001) increased risk of showing a specific mental health problem such as "emotional problems".Conclusion Mental health problems in adolescents are distributed unequally. 11- to 17-year-old boys are generally more likely to show mental health problems, while girls' SES differences in mental health are more pronounced.

Abstract: Ziel der Studie: Ziel der Studie ist es, die Verteilungsunterschiede von psychischen Auffälligkeiten (Emotionale Probleme, Verhaltensauffälligkeiten, Probleme mit Gleichaltrigen, Hyperaktivität) ...

Title translation Socioeconomic differences in health and need for care among the elderly.
Abstract In view of the continuing increase in life expectancy, the question arises as to the state of health in which these years of gained life can be spent. The research findings on social differences in health and life expectancy suggest that this question has to be answered differently for different population groups. Even after the age of 65, persons with a low socioeconomic status are more likely to be affected by chronic illnesses and complaints, functional limitations of everyday activities, as well as impairments of well-being and health-related quality of life. With a significant proportion of people with low socioeconomic status still dying prematurely, the increase in lifetime that is observed for all population groups could increase the social gap in health in later life. This implies the challenge of giving special attention to the needs of socially disadvantaged groups in policies and programs aiming to improve the health of older people and preventing the need for care.

Abstract Digital Pathology is an area prone to high variation due to multiple factors which can strongly affect diagnostic quality and visual appearance of the Whole-Slide-Images (WSIs). The state-of-the art methods to deal with such variation tend to address this through style-transfer inspired approaches. Usually, these solutions directly apply successful approaches from the literature, potentially with some task-related modifications. The majority of the obtained results are visually convincing, however, this paper shows that this is not a guarantee that such images can be directly used for either medical diagnosis or reducing domain shift. This article shows that slight modification in a stain transfer architecture, such as a choice of normalisation layer, while resulting in a variety of visually appealing results, surprisingly greatly effects the ability of a stain transfer model to reduce domain shift. By extensive qualitative and quantitative evaluations, we confirm that translations resulting from different stain transfer architectures are distinct from each other and from the real samples. Therefore conclusions made by visual inspection or pretrained model evaluation might be misleading.

Abstract Domain shift in digital histopathology can occur when different stains or scanners are used, during stain translation, etc. A deep neural network trained on source data may not generalise well to data that has undergone some domain shift. An important step towards being robust to domain shift is the ability to detect and measure it. This article demonstrates that the PixelCNN and domain shift metric can be used to detect and quantify domain shift in digital histopathology, and they demonstrate a strong correlation with generalisation performance. These findings pave the way for a mechanism to infer the average performance of a model (trained on source data) on unseen and unlabelled target data.

Abstract Since the early 2000s, evidence has been accumulating that subjective social status - a person's sense of their own position on the social ladder - affects health above and beyond objective socioeconomic status. To date, however, little is known about how these distinct health effects of subjective social status can be explained. This article narratively reviews different explanatory approaches and key methodological challenges, backed up by empirical findings and supplemented by the authors' own reflections. Both social-psychological and psychoneurobiological explanations can make a theoretically plausible contribution to explaining the subjective social status-health relationship. Experimental and panel designs appear promising for addressing important methodological challenges in this strand of research.

Title translation Socioeconomic inequalities in health in later life.
Abstract Background: Socioeconomic differences in health and life expectancy are key issues for public health and health policy. In the course of demographic change, in addition to childhood, adolescence and middle adulthood, old age is increasingly becoming the focus of attention in research on health inequalities, with a special emphasis on the transition from working age to retirement.
Objective: How do health inequalities change in the transition from middle to older age and then to very old age?
Material and methods: This article reviews the studies available for Germany, supplemented with new analyses based on the German Health Update study and the German Socioeconomic Panel study. In order to set the findings in the context of international research on health inequalities in old age, selected studies from other countries and international comparative studies are additionally considered.
Results: Social differences in health and remaining life-expectancy also exist in older age, although to a slightly lesser extent than in middle age. There is evidence that as age progresses, health inequalities narrow in some health domains but there is also isolated evidence that health inequalities may widen with age.
Conclusion: The existence of health inequalities in old age indicates that older people from disadvantaged social groups have a particular need for healthcare and support. This poses special challenges for the medical, nursing and psychosocial care system as well as for the social security systems.

Abstract Introduction and hypothesis: Large, long-term studies are needed to compare pelvic organ prolapse (POP) recurrence and mesh exposure following all modes of sacrocolpopexy (open, robotic, and laparoscopic). We hypothesized that the prevalence of recurrent POP and mesh exposure does not differ between modes of sacrocolpopexy.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study with a cross-sectional, prospective survey. Participants were surveyed regarding complications, retreatments, and symptoms following sacrocolpopexy. Baseline characteristics, POP recurrence, mesh exposure, and survey responses were compared.
    Results: A total of 709 participants met the criteria. Median time from sacrocolpopexy to last follow-up for all participants was 0.5 years (2 days to 13.4 years). 15.0% experienced recurrent stage 2 or greater POP or underwent retreatment (open 11.7% [95% CI 7.8-17.2%]; robotic 21.1% [95% CI 15.6-27.9%]; laparoscopic 13.8% [95% CI 10.6-17.9%]; p = 0.03). After adjusting for baseline differences there was no significant difference among groups (p = 0.30). 5.3% experienced mesh and/or suture exposure (mesh n = 19, suture n = 10, mesh and suture n = 8) with no significant difference among groups (open 7.7% [95% CI 4.6-12.5%]; robotic 3.6% [95% CI 1.7-7.6%]; laparoscopic 4.9% [95% CI 3.1-7.7%]; p = 0.20). Median time from sacrocolpopexy to survey completion was 6.5 (1.6-13.4) years. 9.2% reported evaluation or treatment for recurrent POP (open 6.3% [95% CI 2.1-16.8%]; robotic 12.5% [95% CI 6.9-21.5%]; laparoscopic 8.5% [5.1-13.8%]; p = 0.44). 6.9% reported evaluation or treatment for mesh exposure (open 6.0% [95% CI 2.1-16.2%]; robotic 3.9% [95% CI 1.3-10.7%]; laparoscopic 8.6% [5.2-13.9%]; p = 0.38).
Conclusions: Objective and patient-reported long-term prevalence of POP recurrence and mesh exposure are low following all modes of sacrocolpopexy.

Abstract Introduction: Ibuprofen acid is poorly soluble in the stomach, thus reaching maximum plasma levels at approximately 90 min post-dose. Ibuprofen lysinate has been developed to accelerate absorption of ibuprofen to shorten the time to analgesic efficacy. This study compared analgesic efficacy and onset of effect of a single dose of ibuprofen lysinate or ibuprofen acid in patients undergoing third molar extraction.
Methods: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center, parallel-group single-dose study. Adults (18-60 years) undergoing extraction of ≥ 1 third molar were randomized 2:2:1 to ibuprofen lysinate, ibuprofen acid, or placebo postoperatively. Pain relief (PAR, 5-point scale, 0 = none to 4 = complete pain relief) and pain intensity (PI, 100 mm visual analog scale) were assessed between 15 and 360 min post-dose. The primary endpoint was the weighted sum of PAR scores at 6 h (TOTPAR). Time to onset of effect, global assessment of efficacy, and adverse events were also assessed.
Results: Overall, 351 patients received ibuprofen lysinate (N = 141), ibuprofen acid (N = 139), or placebo (N = 71). Both active treatments significantly reduced pain compared with placebo, from 15 min post-dose to 6 h (TOTPAR: ibuprofen lysinate: 19.57; ibuprofen acid: 19.96; placebo: 8.27). Ibuprofen lysinate was significantly more effective than placebo, but non-inferior to ibuprofen acid, at providing pain relief over 6 h. There was no significant difference between ibuprofen lysinate and ibuprofen acid for onset of analgesia. Both ibuprofen formulations were well tolerated; all adverse events were mild to moderate and considered unrelated to treatment.
Conclusions: A single dose of ibuprofen lysinate is non-inferior to ibuprofen acid in terms of analgesic efficacy, onset of action, and tolerability in patients who have recently undergone dental surgery.
