Abstract In Portugal, the lifetime prevalence of DSH in adolescents is situated between 16% and 35% (Duarte et al., 2020a; Gouveia-Pereira et al., 2016). Help-seeking is an important facilitator to stop these behaviors, although it is known that most individuals who engage in self-harm do not ask for help (Rowe et al., 2014). Study one (n = 222) examines the differences between two groups of young adults with a history of deliberate self-harm (participants who asked for help and participants who did not ask for help) regarding these behaviors' severity and diversity, suicidal ideation, and family conflicts. Participants completed a self-report questionnaire which included an open-ended question focused on the reasons that may or may not contribute for seeking help. Significant differences between the two groups were found for all variables and are further discussed, followed by a qualitative analysis concerning the help-seeking motives. Study two (n = 110) used a self-report questionnaire to analyze the expectations of young adults with a history of deliberate self-harm concerning their social support network and the role of healthcare workers when they asked or thought about asking for help. These expectations included contents related with problem-solving, confidentiality, understanding and trust, support, and unburdening. Identifying facilitators and barriers to help-seeking can be a relevant step in planning and managing interventions within deliberate self-harm. Future directions and limitations are discussed.

Abstract The ability of anaerobic digestion to create value from waste gives it an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and in the transition to a circular economy. For a better understanding of the digestion process and in order to reduce the number of time-consuming batch tests, an analytical model was developed to describe the kinetics of biogas production. Assuming that the organic fraction of the substrate has different degradation rates, the whole process was modelled as two groups of 1

Abstract Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a group of conditions characterized by multiple joint contractures. This rare disorder causes stiffness of joints, limiting the range of motion and negatively impacting activities of daily living (ADL). This case reports a 45-year-old male with AMC who was referred to physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR). He had a limited range of movement in multiple joints and global muscle weakness. However, ADL were feasible, including walking. The patient had an unsteady barefoot gait, causing claudication, which improved significantly with adapted shoes. The primary goal of treatment is to improve the quality of life (QoL), and proper management should be promptly initiated. AMC requires a multidisciplinary approach to care with three mainstays of treatment: rehabilitation, orthoses, and corrective surgeries. Patients should be followed up periodically by their family doctors, and PMR evaluations and rehabilitation should be provided as needed. An orthopedic surgery consultation may be required for surgical interventions to provide optimal outcomes and augment the QoL.

Abstract A comprehensive cartography of viral and host proteins expressed during the different stages of SARS-CoV-2 infection is key to decipher the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis. For the most detailed analysis, proteins should be first purified and then proteolyzed with trypsin in the presence of detergents. The resulting peptide mixtures are resolved by reverse phase ultrahigh pressure liquid chromatography and then identified by a high-resolution tandem mass spectrometer. The thousands of spectra acquired for each fraction can then be assigned to peptide sequences using a relevant protein sequence database, comprising viral and host proteins and potential contaminants from the growth medium or from the operator. The peptides are evidencing proteins and their intensities are used to infer the abundance of their corresponding proteins. Data analysis allows for highlighting the viral and host proteins dynamics. Here, we describe the sample preparation method adapted to profile SARS-CoV-2 -infected cell models, the shotgun proteomics pipeline to record experimental data, and the workflow for data interpretation to analyze infection-induced proteomic changes in a time-resolved manner.
