Abstract Erosive pustular dermatosis of the scalp (EPDS) is an uncommon and possibly underreported chronic inflammatory skin disease within the spectrum of neutrophilic disorders. Although it has been reported in all ages, elderly people are more common affected. The surrounding skin often shows symptoms of chronic actinic damage. Histopathology is rather unspecific. The pustules and lakes of pus are sterile. Treatment includes anti-septic, anti-inflammatory topical therapy, in more severe cases oral steroids. Rarely systemic antibiosis or surgery are necessary. EPDS is an important differential diagnosis of non-melanoma skin cancer, bullous autoimmune disease, and soft tissue infections by bacteria or fungi. When untreated, scarring alopecia develops. We report on or own case series and present a narrative review on published cases since 2010.

Abstract Neoplasms of the major and minor salivary glands are morphologically and a clinically diverse group of neoplasms which lead the clinician to diagnostic and management challenges. This article aims to report a case of mucoepidermoid carcinoma in 83 - year - old woman who presented in the dermatology clinic with a tumour mass in the left auricular area. The patient complained of pain and abnormal bleeding of the mass. The lesion was examined, and surgical treatment was performed. A tumour was extirpated, and partial resection of both the parotid gland and the sternocleidomastoid muscle was done. Lymphatic dissection was performed. Post recovery was uneventful with no functional defects and abnormalities. The pathohistological result confirmed the diagnosis of mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the parotid gland with massive infiltration of the skin and the subcutaneous tissue. Lymph nodules with total metastasis of mucoepidermoid carcinoma and capsular invasion were additionally presented. Postoperative radiation therapy was planned.

Abstract Both lipedema and juxta-articular adiposis dolorsa are painful disorders of subcutaneous adipose tissue. We investigated 297 female patients with lipedema treated at our department for the presence of juxta-articular adiposis dolorsa. Occurrence of both disorders was identified in 4.4% of lipedema patients. The common presence of both disorders was observed only in more advanced lipedema (grade II and III). Juxta-articular adiposis dolorosa of the knees is seen exclusively on the inner knees, and it presents neither bruising nor creases or hypothermia. Choices of surgical treatment are either microcannula liposuction or dermolipectomy. Recurrences have not been observed.

Abstract Cutaneous melanoma is the major cause of mortality from all skin cancers. The treatment has been revolutionized in recent years by introduction of immunotherapy and targeted therapy for melanoma patients Stages III and IV. Therefore, the role of surgery in melanoma treatment needs to be redefined. In this narrative review, we will focus on surgery for diagnosis, treatment of primary tumor, and metastases in the era of new and effective medical treatment options. Neoadjuvant therapy is currently investigated in several trials. Surgery for treatment-resistant metastases is another field of interest. In conclusion, surgery remains a cornerstone for diagnosis and treatment of primary melanoma. Therapeutic lymphadenectomy has lost importance while surgery in sentinel lymph node diagnostics and metastasectomy are useful in a tailored individual approach of combined treatments. There is a trend to less invasive surgical procedures.
