    Abstract Milk fan is an acid-curd cheese with strong national characteristics (a traditional dairy product of the Bai nationality with a shape like a piece of paper) and a long history in Yunnan province, China. In our previous study, we characterized the microbial community diversity of milk fan, but the succession of microorganisms associated with flavor formation in milk fan is still unknown. Therefore, we examined the predominant microorganisms and their correlations with the formation of flavor in the fermentation of sour juice and drying of milk fan by gas chromatography mass spectrometry, high-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing, intergenic spacer sequencing and metatranscriptome analysis. We found that the relative abundances of Lactobacillus and Issatchenkia initially decreased and then increased with time during the fermentation of sour juice. However, the relative abundances of Acetobacter, Leuconostoc, Lactococcus, Geotrichum, and Dipodascus initially increased and then decreased. During the drying step, the relative abundances of Lactobacillus and Issatchenkia continuously increased and became the dominant microorganisms in the milk fan. The metatranscriptomes generated from the milk fan showed that "carbohydrate metabolism," "translation," and "signal transduction" were the main metabolic functions of the microbial communities. Rhodotorula and Yarrowia contained more differentially expressed genes than other genera, which indicated they may be associated with the production of the characteristic flavor. Furthermore, a Pearson correlation analysis showed that Lactococcus, Rhodotorula, Candida, Cutaneotrichosporon, and Yarrowia were significantly positively correlated with more aroma-active compounds, mainly ethyl acetate, 2-heptanone, isovaleraldehyde, butyric acid, nonanal, and hexanal. In conclusion, these findings contribute to a better understanding of the flavor production mechanism during the production of milk fan.

    Abstract Quantification of the loss generation of ducted contra-rotating fan (CRF) blades is difficult to achieve, since there are no guide vanes between rotors. A blade design program was established to investigate the relationship between radial velocity distribution and incurred loss. Numerical and experimental techniques were used to confirm the optimal configuration's overall performance. The relationship between loss and velocity distribution under the impact of spanwise load distribution was confirmed by the entropy contour from various perspectives. The appropriate radial velocity distribution can improve the operating efficiency of a CRF by reducing the entropy around the annulus under design and near-stall conditions. This regularity could provide some strategies in the design of contra-rotating blades.

    Abstract Background: Premature ejaculation (PE) is one of the most common forms of sexual dysfunction in men, and multimodal therapeutic regimens should be considered to treat the condition. We developed a Chinese medicine herbal medicine, Shugan Yidan fang that had a significant clinical effect on PE patients, extending the time between penetration and ejaculation. However, the mechanism of this formula remains unclear. There is evidence that PE is associated with peripheral neuropathology, and the actions of dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT). The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of Shugan Yidan fang's effect on PE through the relationship between sexual behavioristics and the level of neurotransmitters and dopamine receptors (DARs).
    Results: We showed that the male PE groups had a significant PE phenotype compared to healthy rats. Treatment with Shugan Yidan fang improved the behavioristics of the PE rats, and reduced the expression of DAR mRNA and protein while improving dopamine transporter levels.
    Conclusions: Our study provided evidence for the beneficial effect of Shugan Yidan fang in PE therapy, and proposed a preliminary potential mechanism for the clinical application of the formula.

    Abstract Football is one of the most popular sports in the world. As the popularity of football continues to grow worldwide, so does the number of incidents of violence on the pitch. Today, doping, match fixing, black whistles, and football hooliganism are ranked as the four most toxic aspects of sport. How to study the factors that cause aggressive behaviour of fans from a psychological perspective has become a key issue in the field of sports. Therefore, this study proposes a method for mining the psychological factors of sport fan community members based on machine learning clustering. Firstly, three different members of a large fan community, i.e., university students, office workers, and unemployed people, are used as research subjects to investigate the psychological factors influencing fans’ aggressive behaviour using a questionnaire method. Secondly, the data obtained were mined and analysed using the K-means clustering algorithm in machine learning techniques. At the same time, a K-means initial clustering centre optimization algorithm based on principal component analysis (PCA) was proposed for the data characteristics of the interaction of psychological factors. The results show that the new algorithm significantly improves the quality of clustering compared with other optimization algorithms and accurately identifies the multiple factors that contribute to the occurrence of fan attacks.

    Abstract In this study, the surface water balance method was used to calculate the interaction between surface water and groundwater (SGW) in the Taoer River alluvial fan in Jilin Province, China, from 1956 to 2014. The automatic linear model was used to determine the key and non-key influencing factors, and correlation analysis was performed to evaluate their relationship with one another. River runoff and groundwater level were the key factors affecting the SGW interaction, and sand–gravel exposure in the fan was more conducive to SGW interaction. There was a positive correlation between runoff and SGW interaction, and the relationship between the groundwater and surface water levels was correlated and affected by groundwater exploitation and groundwater runoff. Groundwater exploitation and evaporation and precipitation indirectly influenced the SGW interaction by affecting the groundwater level and river runoff key factors, respectively, and were considered non-key factors. HIGHLIGHTS The annual and monthly interactions of the Taoer River alluvial fan were calculated from 1956 to 2014.; They are influencing factors of the interaction between surface water and groundwater (SGW).; The influencing factors of SGW transformation are analyzed and classified.; The stability factor affecting SGW interaction is riverbed lithology.; The key factors affecting SGW interaction are river runoff and groundwater level.;

    Abstract Personalized medicine implies reducing invasiveness of therapeutic procedures. Although interventional radiology proved a very interesting alternative to surgical procedures, it still raises concerns due to the irradiation dose received by the medical team (and by the patient). We propose a novel concept allowing to reduce very significantly the irradiation dose during the phases where tools inserted in the patient have to be tracked with respect to previously acquired images. This implies inserting a miniaturized X-ray detector in the tip of the tools, and reducing the dose by a "rotating collimator". We demonstrate that real-time processing of the signals allows accurate localization of the tip of the tools, with a dose reduction of at least ten times.

    Abstract In this study, the aerodynamic performance of flapping wings using a parallel motion was investigated and compared with the insect-like “fan-sweep” motion, and the effect of adding a slit to the wings was analyzed. First, numerical simulations were performed to analyze the wing aerodynamics of two flapping motions with equivalent stroke amplitudes over a range of pitching angles based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The simulation results indicated that flapping wings with a rapid and short parallel motion achieved better lift and efficiency than those of the fan-sweep motion while maintaining the same aerodynamic characteristics regarding stall delay and leading-edge vortices. For a parallel motion with a pitching angle of 25° and 100 mm stroke amplitude, the wings generated an average lift of 8.4 gf with a lift-to-drag ratio of 1.06, respectively, which were 1.8% and 26% greater than those of the fan-sweep motion with a corresponding 96° stroke amplitude. This situation was reversed when the pitching angle and stroke amplitude were increased to 45° and 144° for the fan-sweep motion, which was equivalent to the parallel motion with a 150 mm stroke amplitude. The slit effect in the parallel motion was also evaluated, and the CFD results indicated that a slit width of 1 mm (1/50 wing chord) increased the lift of the wing by approximately 27% in the case of the 150 mm stroke amplitude. Further, the slit width slightly influenced the lift and aerodynamic efficiency.
