Abstract Objectives: The dissemination of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-5 (NDM-5) among various species of Enterobacterales has attracted serious global attention. Here, we characterise the genomic characterisation of bla
Methods: Antimicrobial susceptibility and multilocus sequence typing was performed for the KA3. The plasmid conjugation assay and plasmid stability of the KA3 (pNDM-KA3) were also analysed. The pNDM-KA3 plasmid was further analysed by whole-genome sequencing and comparative analysis to determine the genetic environment of bla
Results: The KA3 strain belongs to ST4 and shows high resistance to β-lactam antibiotics, including carbapenems, but is susceptible to ciprofloxacin, amikacin, tigecycline, and colistin. The pNDM-KA3 was successfully transferred to the recipient E. coli J53 and showed strong stability in K. aerogenes. Genomic sequencing revealed that the pNDM-KA3 plasmid was assigned to plasmid incompatibility group X3 with 43367 bp, and a conserved structure sequence of △IS3000-△ISAba125-IS5-bla
Conclusions: Continued monitoring for the dissemination of bla

Abstract Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) has been widely concerned in the field of medical imaging because of its low radiation hazard to humans. However, under low-dose radiation scenarios, a large amount of noise/artifacts are present in the reconstructed image, which reduces the clarity of the image and is not conducive to diagnosis. To improve the LDCT image quality, we proposed a combined frequency separation network and Transformer (FSformer) for LDCT denoising. Firstly, FSformer decomposes the LDCT images into low-frequency images and multi-layer high-frequency images by frequency separation blocks. Then, the low-frequency components are fused with the high-frequency components of different layers to remove the noise in the high-frequency components with the help of the potential texture of low-frequency parts. Next, the estimated noise images can be obtained by using Transformer stage in the frequency aggregation denoising block. Finally, they are fed into the reconstruction prediction block to obtain improved quality images. In addition, a compound loss function with frequency loss and Charbonnier loss is used to guide the training of the network. The performance of FSformer has been validated and evaluated on AAPM Mayo dataset, real Piglet dataset and clinical dataset. Compared with previous representative models in different architectures, FSformer achieves the optimal metrics with PSNR of 33.7714 dB and SSIM of 0.9254 on Mayo dataset, the testing time is 1.825 s. The experimental results show that FSformer is a state-of-the-art (SOTA) model with noise/artifact suppression and texture/organization preservation. Moreover, the model has certain robustness and can effectively improve LDCT image quality.

Abstract It is widely recognized that the criminal act of poaching has brought tremendous damage to biodiversity. This paper employs a stochastic single-species model with regime switching to investigate the impact of poaching. We first carry out the survival analysis and obtain sufficient conditions for the extinction and persistence in mean of the single-species population. Then, we show that the model is positive recurrent by constructing suitable Lyapunov function. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to support our theoretical results. It is found that: (i) As the intensity of poaching increases, the odds of being at risk of extinction increases for the single-species population. (ii) The regime switching can suppress the extinction of the single-species population. (iii) The white noise is detrimental to the survival of the single-species population. (iv) Increasing the criminal cost of poaching and establishing animal sanctuaries are important ways to protect biodiversity.

Abstract Abstract Background With the accelerated aging of the Chinese population, elder abuse has become a serious social problem. As COVID-19 has had a very large impact on economic development and lifestyle in China, it has also affected elder abuse. The purpose of this study is to estimate the prevalence of elder abuse in China during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to identify changes in risk factors for elder abuse in the context of COVID-19. Methods We designed a cross-sectional study. In Hunan Province, a face-to-face questionnaire survey was conducted among elderly people over 65 years of age. To ensure the consistency of the measurement standards, we used the elder abuse questionnaire from the “Third Survey on Chinese Women’s Social Status.” According to related research, we selected 10 victim-related risk factors as independent variables. A logistic regression model was established to analyze the relationship between the independent variables and the four kinds of abuse. Results We collected 10,362 samples from Hunan Province. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevalence of financial abuse and neglect was significantly higher than that in 2010. Income had a significant impact on the four types of abuse. The lower the income was, the greater the risk of abuse. Moreover, factors such as an older age, being a woman, a lower cognitive ability, and not having a cohabiting spouse increased the possibility of abuse. The greater the number of children was, the greater the risks of physical abuse, financial abuse, and elder neglect. Seniors with higher education levels, those who frequently participated in social activities, and those with religious beliefs were less likely to suffer abuse. Conclusions During the COVID-19 epidemic, the prevalence of elder abuse in China has increased, which may be related to economic instability and social distancing measures. Increasing the income of the elderly and giving them more social support are important measures to reduce the prevalence of elder abuse.
