Abstract This study analyzes the effects of innovation and innovation characteristics on the survival of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the service industry. After analyzing around 22,300 innovative SMEs in Korea's service industry using Kaplan-Meier analysis, it is confirmed that the better the overall technological prowess (T-grade), the longer the survival period until delinquency (overdue payments for more than three months) and default. The technological innovation characteristics that significantly affect the survival period are derived using a time-dependent Cox model. Owner capability, productization capability, and profit prospects are found to positively affect the survival period of excellent SMEs, while R&D capability, technology superiority, and market status are found to have a negative effect. From an optimization perspective, if R&D capability is above an appropriate level, it can hinder the survival period of SMEs. Thus, it is interpreted that the more positive the market status, the more negative the survival period, because it accelerates the inflow of new competitors. Considering that owner capability, productization capability, and profit prospects are appraisal items based on business feasibility along with the technological prowess of SMEs, it is concluded that technology with business feasibility has a significantly positive effect on the survival period of innovative SMEs in the service industry.

Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a heterogeneous developmental disorder characterized by impairments in two core areas: 1) social communication and interaction and 2) restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviors and interests. In general, ASD is known to be a lifelong disorder. Follow-up studies from childhood to adulthood have reported that the severity of the key symptoms ASD decreases over time. However, chronic health problems including mental health occur in many patients with ASD. The prevalence of ASD has increased from around 0.04% in the 1970s to 2.8% at present. The average age of diagnosis in developed countries is 38-120 months of age. Recent evidence suggests that biological factors which include genetic, congenital, immunological, neuroanatomical, biochemical, and environmental ones are important in causing autism. Until now, early signs and various risk factors of ASD have been suggested.

Abstract Stomach cancer has a high annual mortality rate worldwide necessitating early detection and accurate treatment. Even experienced specialists can make erroneous judgments based on several factors. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are being developed rapidly to assist in this field. Here, we aimed to determine how AI technology is used in gastric cancer diagnosis and analyze how it helps patients and surgeons. Early detection and correct treatment of early gastric cancer (EGC) can greatly increase survival rates. To determine this, it is important to accurately determine the diagnosis and depth of the lesion and the presence or absence of metastasis to the lymph nodes, and suggest an appropriate treatment method. The deep learning algorithm, which has learned gastric lesion endoscopyimages, morphological characteristics, and patient clinical information, detects gastric lesions with high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, and predicts morphological characteristics. Through this, AI assists the judgment of specialists to help select the correct treatment method among endoscopic procedures and radical resections and helps to predict the resection margins of lesions. Additionally, AI technology has increased the diagnostic rate of both relatively inexperienced and skilled endoscopic diagnosticians. However, there were limitations in the data used for learning, such as the amount of quantitatively insufficient data, retrospective study design, single-center design, and cases of non-various lesions. Nevertheless, this assisted endoscopic diagnosis technology that incorporates deep learning technology is sufficiently practical and future-oriented and can play an important role in suggesting accurate treatment plans to surgeons for resection of lesions in the treatment of EGC.

Abstract We propose a band engineering scheme on the biphenylene network, a newly synthesized carbon allotrope. We illustrate that the electronic structure of the biphenylene network can be significantly altered by controlling conditions affecting the symmetry and destructive interference of wave functions through periodic fluorination. First, we investigate the mechanism for the appearance of a type-II Dirac fermion in a pristine biphenylene network. We show that the essential ingredients are mirror symmetries and stabilization of the compact localized eigenstates via destructive interference. While the former is used for the band-crossing point along high symmetry lines, the latter induces highly inclined Dirac dispersions. Subsequently, we demonstrate the transformation of the biphenylene network's type-II Dirac semimetal phase into various Dirac phases such as type-I Dirac, gapped type-II Dirac, and nodal line semimetals through the deliberate disruption of mirror symmetry or modulation of destructive interference by varying the concentration of fluorine atoms.

Abstract During laparoscopic surgery for colorectal or gastric cancers, locating the tumor for excision is difficult owing to it being obscured by mucous membranes. Therefore, a clip can be installed around the tumor, which can be located using a sensor. Most of the clip-detectors developed thus far can only detect tumors in either the colon or stomach and require a wire to connect the clip and detector. This study designs a clip and detector that can locate a tumor in the stomach and colon. The clip contains a neodymium magnet that generates a magnetic field, and the detector includes a Colpitts oscillator that allows magnetic coupling of the clip and detector. After installing the prepared clip at the tumor location, the detector is used to locate the clip. To test the clip and detector, we conducted animal experiments, during which four clips were installed in the colon and stomach of a mini pig. We succeeded in locating the clips within 2.17 and 3.14 s in the stomach and colon, respectively, which were shorter than the detection times reported in previous studies. The demand for laparoscopic surgery and endoscopes is predicted to increase owing to this method.

Abstract The primary symptom of both appendicitis and diverticulitis is a pain in the right lower abdomen; it is almost impossible to diagnose these conditions through symptoms alone. However, there will be misdiagnoses happening when using abdominal computed tomography (CT) scans. Most previous studies have used a 3D convolutional neural network (CNN) suitable for processing sequences of images. However, 3D CNN models can be difficult to implement in typical computing systems because they require large amounts of data, GPU memory, and extensive training times. We propose a deep learning method, utilizing red, green, and blue (RGB) channel superposition images reconstructed from three slices of sequence images. Using the RGB superposition image as the input image of the model, the average accuracy was shown as 90.98% in EfficietNetB0, 91.27% in EfficietNetB2, and 91.98% in EfficietNetB4. The AUC score using the RGB superposition image was higher than the original image of the single channel for EfficientNetB4 (0.967 vs. 0.959,
