Abstract Much of the current attention on artificial intelligence (AI)-based natural language processing (NLP) systems has focused on research ethics and integrity but neglects their roles in the editorial and peer-reviewing process. We argue that the academic community needs to develop and apply a consistent end-to-end policy on the ethics and integrity of NLP in academic publishing: standards such as drafting requirements and disclosure criteria imposed on potential contributors should be consistently applied to the editorial and peer review process in academic publications.

Abstract Decentralization is essential for the sustainable socio-economic development of megacities. In the context of the decentralization of noncapital functions in Beijing, the renewal of inefficient urban industrial land (UIL) into urban green space (UGS) is an important way to improve the quality of the city. This paper analyzes the urban industrial land use efficiency (UILUE) and its urban green space suitability (UGSS) of 865 study units in Daxing District, Beijing, and combines bivariate spatial autocorrelation with cluster analysis. The results show that (1) the distribution of UIL in Daxing District is “dense in the north and sparse in the south”, and UILUE shows a spatial pattern of “high in the west and low in the east”, with a high-efficiency area of 985.85 ha, accounting for 12.06 % of the study area, and a low-efficiency area of 507.77 ha, accounting for 6.21 % of the study area. (2) Among the existing UIL, the high suitable area is 1106.46 ha, accounting for 13.57 % of the study area, and the low suitable area is 439 ha, accounting for 5.38 % of the study area. (3) Through bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis, four types of UIL were identified, among which the low–high cluster area had the greatest potential for land conversion, with 175 study units and an area of 1335.22 ha, accounting for 16.28 % of the study area. Finally, this paper proposes recommendations for the renewal and utilization of UIL in Daxing District to provide guidance and suggestions for the decentralization of other megacities in the world.

Abstract Background: Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1116 (LINC01116) plays a carcinogenic role in a variety of cancers. The study aims to investigate the roles of LINC01116 and hsa-miR-9-5p (miR-9-5p) and fathom their interaction in chordoma.
Method: The predicted binding sites between miR-9-5p with LINC01116 and phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) by starBase were confirmed through dual-luciferase reporter assay. The behaviors of chordoma cells undergoing transfection with siLINC01116 or miR-9-5p inhibitor were determined by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation, Transwell, and flow cytometry assays. The glucose consumption, lactate production, and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production of chordoma cells were examined with specific kits. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot were performed to determine relevant gene expressions in chordoma cells.
Results: Silencing of LINC01116 facilitated the apoptosis and expressions of Bcl-2- associated X (Bax), cleaved caspase-3 (C caspase-3) and miR-9-5p while repressing the cell cycle, viability, proliferation, invasion, glucose consumption, lactate production, ATP production, and expressions of PGK1 and Bcl-2. Meanwhile, LINC01116 sponged miR-9-5p, which could target PGK1. Moreover, the miR-9-5p inhibitor acted contrarily and reversed the role of siLINC01116 in chordoma cells. Besides, LINC01116 downregulation facilitated apoptosis and attenuated the proliferation and invasion of chordoma cells as well as PGK1 expression by upregulating miR-9-5p expression.
Conclusion: LINC01116/miR-9-5p plays a regulatory role in the progression of chordoma cells and is a potential biomarker for chordoma.

Abstract Bi2Te3, as a topological insulator, is able to support plasmonic emission in the visible spectral range. Thin Bi2Te3 flakes can be exfoliated directly from a Bi2Te3 crystal, and the shape of Bi2Te3 flakes can be further modified by focused ion beam milling. Therefore, we have designed a Bi2Te3 triangular antenna with distinct tip angles for the application of plasmonic resonance. The plasmonic emission of the Bi2Te3 triangular antenna is excited and investigated by cathodoluminescence in the scanning electron microscope. Enhanced tip plasmons have been observed from distinct tips with angles of 20º, 36º, 54º, 70º, and 90º, respectively. Due to the confinement of geometric boundaries for oscillating charges, the resonant peak position of tip plasmon with a smaller angle has a blue shift. Moreover, the dependence of plasmonic behavior on the excitation position has been discovered as well. This research provides a unique approach to fabricate Bi2Te3 nanostructures and manipulate the corresponding plasmonic properties.

Abstract The development of safe and effective delivery systems is critical for the clinical applications of siRNA-based therapeutics. Polymer-based vectors have garnered significant attention owing to their structural flexibility and functional tunability. Polyethyleneimine (PEI) has been extensively studied for nucleic acid delivery; nevertheless, its high cytotoxicity has posed challenges for clinical applications. In this study, we have reported poly(glycidyl amine) (PGAm), a linear PEI analogue, demonstrating remarkable siRNA delivery efficacy and improved biocompatibility. By introducing three aromatic moieties (tyrosine,

Abstract Background: Furmonertinib is the standard treatment option in the first-line setting for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with sensitive epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in China. However, there are limited real-world data available.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study at a single center, analyzing a cohort of 73 NSCLC patients who tested positive for EGFR mutations and were treated with furmonertinib as their initial therapy between August 2022 and December 2023. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), with secondary endpoints including objective response rate (ORR), overall survival (OS), and safety profile.
Results: The median observation period was 9 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 8.0-20.0). The median PFS was 19.5 months (95% CI, 14.6-24.4). OS data were not yet mature. Univariate analysis showed no significant correlation between PFS and factors such as Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS) score, presence of brain or liver metastases, sex, age, EGFR mutation status, or number of metastatic sites. However, multivariate analysis indicated a potential trend toward extended PFS in patients younger than 65 years (p = 0.053, 95% CI, 0.10-1.02), although the p-value was only marginally significant. The most common adverse events were diarrhea (24%), anemia (36%), and liver injury (32%); however, only four cases experienced severe adverse events.
Conclusion: In a real-world setting, furmonertinib appears to be a favorable treatment option for EGFR-mutated patients. The manageable nature of adverse events further supports its use in clinical practice.

Abstract The ecosystems in China's arid and semiarid regions are notably fragile and experiencing dramatic land degradation. At the 12th Conference of the Parties (COP12) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in October 2015, a definition for land degradation neutrality (LDN) was proposed and subsequently integrated into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Research on LDN has developed in terms of conceptual framework constructions, quantitative assessments, and empirical studies. However, LDN and its drivers must be clarified in China's arid and semiarid regions since some representative processes have yet to be fully considered in the assessment. Here, we develop an LDN indicator system specialised for the area, assess their LDN status, and determine the impacts of human activities and climate change on LDN. Our research aims to refine the LDN indicator system tailored for China's arid and semiarid regions by incorporating the trends of wind and water erosion. We also identify the influence of human activity and climate change on LDN, which provides insightful strategies for ecological restoration and sustainable development in drylands with climate-sensitive ecosystems. The results show that: (1) In 2020, more than half of areas of China's arid and semiarid regions achieved LDN, with more pronounced success in the southeastern areas compared to the central regions. (2) For LDN drivers, elevation shows negligible influence on LDN, whereas increased temperature promotes LDN achievement. Conversely, factors like vapour pressure deficit and v-direction wind speed hinder it. In conclusion, China's arid and semiarid regions achieved LDN, and the dominant factor that substantially influences LDN varies across geographical zones, with higher wind speeds and elevated GDP levels generally obstructing LDN in most areas.
