Abstract TRPV4 is associated with the development of neuropathic pain, sensory defects, muscular dystrophies, neurodegenerative disorders, Charcot Marie Tooth and skeletal dysplasia. In all these cases, mitochondrial abnormalities are prominent. Here, we demonstrate that TRPV4, localizes to a subpopulation of mitochondria in various cell lines. Improper expression and/or function of TRPV4 induces several mitochondrial abnormalities. TRPV4 is also involved in the regulation of mitochondrial numbers, Ca

Abstract Devic's disease, commonly known as neuromyelitis optica (NMO), is a rare relapsing autoimmune illness of the central nervous system. Occasionally, it is associated with other autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren's syndrome (SS). Dry mouth and dry eyes are two symptoms of SS, a chronic autoimmune condition marked by inflammation and dysfunction of the exocrine gland. While SS primarily affects the exocrine glands, it can also manifest with a range of extraglandular features, including neurological manifestations, as in our case where the patient initially presented with neurological symptoms and was diagnosed with NMO. Owing to the persistent relapses along with sicca symptoms that occurred late, SS was diagnosed on further evaluation. Although the association of SS with NMO is not very common, the initial presentation of SS with neurological symptoms, as in our case, is what makes it more unique.

Abstract Objectives: Quality improvement strategies have been an integral part of healthcare to attain improved care delivery and effective health outcomes. The dental quality initiative improvement (DQII) presented in this manuscript represents a case study of successful implementation of a quality improvement culture within a large integrated-medical-dental health system serving a largely rural population.
Methods: The key elements of DQII included steering committee establishment, definition or dental quality measures and development/implementation of a dental quality analytics dashboard (DQAD) that provides relevant data on dental quality measures. Qualitative metrics were applied to look at the improvement in performance for the various measures relative to quality benchmarks.
Results: DQII facilitated improved oversight of care continuity and provider performance surrounding quality measures at granular and/or institutional level. Improvement associated with care delivery performance relative to benchmarks was observed.
Conclusions: DQII further advanced the quality improvement culture prevalent in our learning healthcare environment with its focus on value-based care delivery. DQII initiative and establishment of DQAD provided ability to track performance in operational care delivery for dental providers in a clinical setting in real time.

Abstract Exciton polaritons are quasiparticles of photons coupled strongly to bound electron-hole pairs, manifesting as an anti-crossing light dispersion near an exciton resonance. Highly anisotropic semiconductors with opposite-signed permittivities along different crystal axes are predicted to host exotic modes inside the anti-crossing called hyperbolic exciton polaritons (HEPs), which confine light subdiffractionally with enhanced density of states. Here, we show observational evidence of steady-state HEPs in the van der Waals magnet chromium sulfide bromide (CrSBr) using a cryogenic near-infrared near-field microscope. At low temperatures, in the magnetically-ordered state, anisotropic exciton resonances sharpen, driving the permittivity negative along one crystal axis and enabling HEP propagation. We characterize HEP momentum and losses in CrSBr, also demonstrating coupling to excitonic sidebands and enhancement by magnetic order: which boosts exciton spectral weight via wavefunction delocalization. Our findings open new pathways to nanoscale manipulation of excitons and light, including routes to magnetic, nonlocal, and quantum polaritonics.

Abstract Proximal myotonic myopathy (PROMM) is normally associated with bilateral proximal weakness of lower limbs, slight elevation of liver enzymes, and cataracts. Myotonic dystrophy and PROMM are both autosomal dominant disorders, but gene study is completely normal in the case of PROMM. The most important differential diagnosis of PROMM is myotonic dystrophy. In our case, we reported late-onset PROMM in a patient 42 years old whose symptoms started at the age of 33 years; genetic evaluation of both myotonic dystrophy type 1 and myotonic dystrophy type 2 came out to be normal; therefore, the diagnosis of exclusion PROMM was made, which is a rare entity.

Abstract Lemierre's syndrome is characterized by internal jugular vein thrombophlebitis and bacteremia, primarily from anaerobic organisms. The condition usually arises after a recent oropharyngeal infection. Young, healthy people with prolonged pharyngitis that progresses into septicemia, pneumonia, or lateral neck stiffness should be suspected of having Lemierre's syndrome. Identifying internal jugular vein thrombophlebitis and developing anaerobic bacterial growth on blood culture are frequently used to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment consists of long-term antibiotic treatment, sometimes in conjunction with anticoagulant medication. In this case report, we describe the unique case of a 29-year-old male with

Abstract Objective: The aim: Estimate the prevalence of the parietal foramen in the adult human skulls of Ukrainian origin, and study its morphology and relationships to main anatomical landmarks of the skull.
Patients and methods: Materials and methods: A cross-sectional observational study of PF was conducted with 42 random cadaveric adult human skull roofs (calvaria) collected from the laboratory and museum of Human Anatomy Department, Kharkiv National Medical University, Ukraine. The patency and the length of the PF canal were determined, and PF external/internal diameters and the distance to the calvarial landmarks from PF were measured using the caliper. Mean and standard deviation were calculated to compare with the existing data.
Results: Results: In the present study 85.7% (n = 36) of the calvaria had the PF, 54.8% (n = 23) had bilateral location of PF, 30.9% (n = 13) had unilateral presence of PF (right side: 23.8%, n=10 and left side: 7.1%, n=3), and 14.3 % (n = 6) demonstrated bilateral absence of PF.
Conclusion: Conclusions: An anatomical variation in parietal foramen is not uncommon, and the differences can be based on multiple factors like geography and race. It is important to have detailed information on anatomical variations in different population groups to facilitate surgical and radiological interventions.
