Abstract The high thermal storage density of phase change materials (PCMs) has attracted considerable attention in solar energy applications. However, the practicality of PCMs is often limited by the problems of leakage, poor solar-thermal conversion capability, and low thermal conductivity, resulting in low-efficiency solar energy storage. In this work, a new system of MXene-integrated solid-solid PCMs is presented as a promising solution for a solar-thermal energy storage and electric conversion system with high efficiency and energy density. The composite system's performance is enhanced by the intrinsic photo-thermal behavior of MXene and the heterogeneous phase transformation properties of PCM molecular chains. The optimal composites system has an impressive solar thermal energy storage efficiency of up to 94.5%, with an improved energy storage capacity of 149.5 J g

Abstract Phase-change materials (PCMs) offer tremendous potential to store thermal energy during reversible phase transitions for state-of-the-art applications. The practicality of these materials is adversely restricted by volume expansion, phase segregation, and leakage problems associated with conventional solid-liquid PCMs. Solid-solid PCMs, as promising alternatives to solid-liquid PCMs, are gaining much attention toward practical thermal-energy storage (TES) owing to their inimitable advantages such as solid-state processing, negligible volume change during phase transition, no contamination, and long cyclic life. Herein, the aim is to provide a holistic analysis of solid-solid PCMs suitable for thermal-energy harvesting, storage, and utilization. The developing strategies of solid-solid PCMs are presented and then the structure-property relationship is discussed, followed by potential applications. Finally, an outlook discussion with momentous challenges and future directions is presented. Hopefully, this review will provide a guideline to the scientific community to develop high-performance solid-solid PCMs for advanced TES applications.

Abstract Background: The modulations of lymphocyte subsets and cytokine production due to subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy (SCIT) are not fully clarified.
Objective: We investigated the changes in T-lymphocyte subsets and serum
Methods: This study involved 20 patients with allergic asthma who were receiving 156-week Der-p SCIT and 20 patients without SCIT (non-SCIT). We measured symptom and medication scores (SMS), serum Der-p sIgG4 levels, CD4
Results: We found that SCIT patients had significantly lower SMS after week 52. Der-p sIgG4 levels in SCIT patients significantly increased at week 16 compared with non-SCIT subjects. CD4
Conclusion: SCIT induced Dep-p sIgG4 may be involved in downregulating Th2 cytokine production in Der-p allergic asthma patients.

Abstract Summary: Precise identification of context-specific transcriptional regulators (TRs) cooperation facilitates the understanding of complex gene regulation. However, previous methods are highly reliant on the availability of ChIPped TRs. Here, we provide a protocol for running 3DCoop, a pipeline for computational inference of cell type-specific TR cooperation in 3D chromatin by integrating TR motifs, open chromatin profiles, gene expression, and chromatin loops. 3DCoop provides a feasible solution to study the potential interplay among TRs across multiple human or mouse tissue/cell types. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Yi et al. Abstract Summary: Passive cooling of buildings has become increasingly important for green and low-carbon development, especially in the near decade where daytime radiative cooling technology (DRCT) has drawn attention with big breakthroughs. However, irresistibly importing heat from sunlight and surroundings results in notable temperature rise, thus limiting the cooling effect. Here, we report a radiative paint with latent heat storage capacity to store imported heat by coupling randomly-distributed phase-change materials (PCMs) based microcapsules with acrylic resin to enhance cooling performance. The bifunctional paint shows good performance in selected-suitable phase transition temperature, high enthalpy, high reflectivity in the sunlight region and strong emissivity in the atmospheric window region. The temperature measurements demonstrate that the paint possesses enhanced cooling performance of temperature drop and time buffering effect compared with the pure radiative cooling paint. This work offers the potential to broaden the applications of PCMs and DRCT for energy saving and environment protection.

Abstract Radiative cooling technology is well known for its subambient temperature cooling performance under sunlight radiation. However, the intrinsic maximum cooling power of radiative cooling limits the performance when the objects meet the thermal shock. Here, a dual-function strategy composed of radiative cooling and latent heat storage simultaneously enabling the efficient subambient cooling and high-efficiency thermal-shock resistance performance is proposed. The electrospinning and absorption-pressing methods are used to assemble the dual-function cooler. The high sunlight reflectivity and high mid-infrared emissivity of radiative film allow excellent subambient temperature of 5.1 °C. When subjected the thermal shock, the dual-function cooler demonstrates a pinning effect of huge temperature drop of 39 °C and stable low-temperature level by isothermal heat absorption compared with the traditional radiative cooler. The molten phase change materials provide the heat-time transfer effect by converting thermal-shock heat to the delayed preservation. This strategy paves a powerful way to protect the objects from thermal accumulation and high-temperature damage, expanding the applications of radiative cooling and latent heat storage technologies.

Abstract The efficacy of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) has been reported with different allergens including house dust mites (HDM). HDM are the most prevalent allergens in patients with asthma and/or rhinitis in China. In addition to improving symptoms, reducing medication need, and improving quality of life, AIT can change the course of allergic disease and induce allergen-specific immune tolerance. To date, the use of AIT is becoming more acceptable in China, and there are many studies about the current clinical practice immunotherapy. In this paper we discuss the main aspects of AIT undertaken in China; including symptom and medication scores, pulmonary function and airway hyperresponsiveness, specific allergen sensitivity, safety evaluation, and mechanisms underlying AIT. This review will provide some important information on AIT treatment strategies to doctors, healthcare professionals and organizations involved in the AIT in China. According to the studies in China, successful AIT may induce antibody responses and cellular reactions in relation to the significant improvement in clinical symptoms, reducing the need for medications and maintenance of stable pulmonary functions.
