Abstract In the current research work, Ni0.2Co2.8O4 and Ni0.2Co2.8/MWCNTs have been synthesized via facile sol-gel and wet impregnation method. The synthesized materials attained the crystalline structures as evident from X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The uniform morphology and well dispersion of Ni0.2Co2.8O4 onto MWCNTs was observed via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrochemical investigations for supercapacitor application by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) revealed that, among both materials, Ni0.2Co2.8O4/MWCNTs has high specific capacitance (CV; 505.8 Fg-1 at 5 mV/s, GCD; 1598 Fg-1 at 0.5 A/g), greater capacitance retention (85 %) at 1000 cycles and has lower charge transfer resistance (Rct; 3.48 Ω cm2). These findings reflected the potential candidacy of Ni0.2Co2.8O4/MWCNTs to be used as anode material in supercapacitor. Further investigations by CV and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity in 1.0 M KOH showed comparatively low over potential of 340 mV @100 mA/cm2 for the same integrated material. Additionally, the lower Tafel slope (47 mV/dec) and solution resistance authenticated it as an appropriate electrocatalyst for OER in water splitting. The CPE (controlled potential electrolysis) revealed the stability of both materials for OER in water oxidation.

Abstract Anecdotally, there are attestations from clinicians of calcium carbonate being used successfully for laboring people experiencing labor dystocia. The goal of this narrative review was to provide a synopsis of pertinent literature on calcium use in obstetrics to explore the potential benefit of calcium carbonate as a simple and low-cost intervention for prevention or treatment of labor dystocia. To answer how calcium and carbonate physiologically contribute to myometrium contractility, we conducted a literature search of English-language peer-reviewed articles, with no year limitation, consisting of the keywords “calcium,” “calcium carbonate,” “calcium gluconate,” “pregnancy,” “hemorrhage,” and variations of “smooth muscle contractility” and “uterine contractions.” Though no overt evidence on calcium carbonate’s ability to prevent labor dystocia was identified; relevant information was found regarding smooth muscle contractility, calcium’s influence on uterine muscle contractility, and carbonate’s potential impact on reducing amniotic fluid lactate levels to restore uterine contractility during labor. Studies reporting the potential effectiveness of calcium gluconate and sodium bicarbonate in preventing labor dystocia offer background, safety information, and rationale for a future randomized control trial to evaluate the ability of calcium carbonate to prevent labor dystocia and reduce rates of cesarean section.

Abstract Background: Acute heart failure (AHF) is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases. Early diagnosis and prognosis are essential, as they can eventually lead to a fatal condition. Recently, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) has been recognized as one of the most popular biomarkers for AHF. Changes in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) are often observed in AHF.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect between March and June 2023. Original case control studies written in English that assessed levels oh BNP in AHF were included. Systematic reviews, letters to editor, correspondence, comprehensive reviews, and duplicated studies were excluded. Funnel plots were constructed to assess publication bias.
Results: A total of 9 studies were selected and we obtained the mean difference (MD) of BNP level to be 2.57 (95% CI: 1.35, 3.78), and GFR to be -15.52, (95% CI: -23.35, -7.70) in AHF patients. Sensitivity analyses supported the robustness of the outcome.
Conclusion: Results indicated that BNP was a promising prognostic biomarker of AHF, whereas GFR was found to be negatively correlated with AHF.

Abstract Sister Mary Joseph's nodule (SMJN) refers to umbilical metastatic lesions and indicates widespread intra-abdominal malignancy. The most common primary sites are gastrointestinal and genital tract. Benign umbilical nodules are called pseudo-SMJN (PSMJN) and have been also reported in nonmalignant lesions such as endometriosis, fibroma, papillomas, myxoma, keloid, omphalith, nevi, foreign-body granulomas, and epidermoid cysts. We report a case with PSMJN as an extremely rare manifestation of intra-abdominal tuberculosis.

Abstract Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the risk factors associated with major adverse cardiovascular (group of events that affect heart and blood vessels) and cerebrovascular (events affecting blood vessels supplying the brain) events (MACCE) in patients with uraemia complicated with hypertension who required maintenance haemodialysis (MHD) treatment.
Methodology: Clinical data and laboratory indicators of 156 uraemia patients complicated with hypertension were collected and retrospectively analysed. The patients were admitted to a tertiary care hospital (Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences AIMS) in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, from February 2018 to February 2022. The data was collected through consecutive sampling and patients were recruited after following the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Results: Eighty-one out of 156 patients were not complicated with MACCE, and 75 patients were complicated with MACCE during the MHD treatment cycle, with an incidence of 48.08%. Compared to the non-MACCE group, the MACCE group's diabetes, body mass growth rate, triglyceride (TG), NT-proBNP, standard deviation and coefficient of variance for systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP-SD, SBP-CV, DBP-SD, and DBP-CV) showed significant differences (P<0.05) between the groups. Diabetes, body mass growth rate, TG, NT-proBNP, SBP-SD, SBP-CV, DBP-SD, and DBP-CV with odds ratios of 3.074, 3.202, 2.188, 2.512, 2.357, 2.431, 2.299, and 2.062 respectively were risk factors for MACCE in uraemia patients with hypertension.
Conclusion:  From the results of this study, we inferred that patients with uraemia and hypertension complicated by MACCE in the treatment cycle of MHD were related to diabetes, body mass growth rate, TG, NT-proBNP, SBP-SD, SBP-CV, DBP-SD, and DBP-CV.

Abstract The aim of the present study was to develop a pictorial questionnaire for the assessment of health-related quality of life (PictoQOL) and to examine its content validity and usability across three exemplary population groups of different origin residing in Germany (non-migrants, Turkish migrants and Arabic-speaking migrants). A mixed-methods design combining qualitative and quantitative methods was used, comprising 6 focus group discussions with a total of 17 participants, 37 cognitive interviews and a quantitative pretest with 15 individuals. The PictoQOL consists of a pictorial representation of a total of 15 different situations. Using a visual Likert scale, respondents indicate how much each situation applies to them. Some representations proved to be culturally sensitive and were adapted. Respondents found the use of an additional graphic layer in the form of symbols in addition to pictures helpful for interpretation. The PictoQOL is considered to allow a more accessible assessment and better comparability of HRQOL across different population groups regardless of their literacy level. It is therefore considered to be superior to existing instruments for routine use in health research and practice. Future studies need to examine its convergent and factorial validity.
