    Abstract Background: This study aims at investigating the mediating role of rumination and COVID-19 burnout in the relationship among depression, resilience and intolerance of uncertainty.
    Subjects and methods: This is a correlational study. The study sample is composed of 436 (F=259, M=177) Turkish university students recruited via convenience sampling method. The participants responded to the Depression Scale, COVID-19 Burnout Scale, Rumination Scale, Resilience Scale and Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale face to face. The model that was developed within the scope of the current study was tested via path analysis, which is a technique of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM).
    Results: The study findings show that resilience and intolerance of uncertainty predict depression and rumination at a statistically significant level. Moreover, rumination directly predicts COVID-19 burnout, while COVID-19 burnout predicts depression. On the other hand, indirect effect modelling shows that resilience predicts depression with the mediating effect of rumination and COVID-19 burnout at a statistically significant level. Lastly, intolerance of uncertainty predicts depression with the mediating effect of rumination and COVID-19 burnout at a statistically significant level.
    Conclusion: The current findings suggest that an increase in the level of intolerance of uncertainty and a decrease in the level of resilience increase rumination, which in turn increases depression by increasing COVID-19 burnout.

    Abstract Background: Headache is one of the most common causes of emergency department (ED) visits. High-flow oxygen therapy is becoming more attractive as a treatment option because it is safe, effective, and cheap. We aimed to compare the effectiveness of high and medium-flow oxygen therapies with placebo for treating primary headache disorders among middle-aged patients.
    Methods: This prospective, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover designed, randomized study was conducted at a regional tertiary hospital's ED. Patients who were treated for primary headache disorder in the ED were evaluated at the time of diagnosis and subsequently included in the study upon their next ED visit. Four different treatment methods were administered; 1) high-flow oxygen (15 L/min oxygen), 2) medium-flow oxygen (8 L/min oxygen), 3) high-flow room air as placebo (15 L/min room air), 4) medium-flow room air as placebo (8 L/min room air). All four treatment methods were administered to all patients included in the study, at four separate ED visits. Patients' data, including demographics, medical history, additional complaints, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score, and physical examination findings were recorded by the treating physician.
    Results: One hundred and four patients with a mean age of 35.14 ± 9.1 years, were included in the study. Patients who received oxygen therapy had a significantly lower VAS score at all control points (15, 30, and 60 min) when compared with placebo (p < 0.001). This difference in scores reached its maximum at 30 min. There was not a significant statistical difference between the high-flow or mid-flow therapies (p > 0.05). It was determined that patients who received placebo therapy were more likely to revisit ED (p < 0.05). There was not a significant statistical difference between the high-flow or mid-flow therapy groups in terms of revisit (p > 0.05) and the 30th-minute analgesia requirement (p > 0.05). Pain duration was significantly less in patients who received oxygen therapy (p < 0.05). Patients who received high-flow oxygen therapy spent less time in the ED (p < 0.001).
    Conclusion: Oxygen therapy could be a beneficial treatment option for middle-aged patients with primary headache disorders. Based on the results obtained from high and mid-flow oxygen therapies, it may be more appropriate to begin treatment with mid-flow oxygen.

    Abstract Güneş enerjili sistemlerin tasarımı yapılırken güneş ışınlarından en iyi şekilde yararlanabilmek için güneş kollektörleri güneşe karşı doğru açıda yerleştirilmelidir. Bu şekilde daha fazla güneş ışınımının güneş kollektörü yüzeyine dik gelmesi sağlanmaktadır. Güneş geliş açıları, bölgenin coğrafik yapısına ve zamana bağlı olarak değişmektedir. Bu değişimlerin etkisini minimize etmek için güneş kollektörü belirli bir dönem boyunca o döneme uygun olacak şekilde optimum bir açıyla yerleştirilmelidir. Bu çalışmada güneş enerjili sistemlerde kollektörlerden yıl boyunca en iyi şekilde yararlanılabilmesi için kollektörün eğim açılarının çeşitli derece-gün bölgeleri için optimum değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Bunun için farklı derece-gün bölgelerinden dört şehir (İstanbul, Ankara, Erzurum, Adana) seçilmiştir ve her bir şehir için yılın her ayında kullanılabilecek optimum eğim açıları, teorik hesaplama ve Hottel & Woertz metotları ile ayrı ayrı belirlenmiş ve birbirleriyle karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuçlar incelendiğinde, teorik hesaplama metodu ile bulunan en yüksek optimum eğim açısının 56° ile Aralık ayında Erzurum ilinde, en düşük açının ise 12° ile Haziran ayında Adana ilinde gerçekleştiği görülmektedir. İki ayrı metotla hesaplanan optimum eğim açıları arasında en büyük fark İstanbul ilinde Ocak ayında .3 olarak gerçekleşirken, en düşük fark Ankara ve Erzurum illerinde Temmuz ayında %4 olarak gerçekleşmiştir. Tüm şehirler ve tüm aylar hesaba katıldığında, iki yöntem arasındaki ortalama farkın .64 olduğu görülmüştür.

    Abstract The COVID-19 related high morbidity and mortality have led to a common fear and anxiety. This study aimed to determine the state/trait and death anxiety levels of patients with myocardial infarction (MI) and COVID-19 pneumonia. The study was conducted at the emergency department of a tertiary hospital in Central Anatolia of Turkey. 120 patients with myocardial infarction , 120 patients with COVID-19 pneumonia, and 120 healthy volunteers as a control group were included in the study. The participants filled out the questionnaire that included the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and the Thorson-Powell's Revised Death Anxiety Scale (RDAS). All scores of patient groups were significantly higher than the control group. There was no significant difference in terms of STAI-S, STAI-T, and RDAS scores between COVID-19 pneumonia and MI groups. The anxiety risk increased 2.14-fold for STAI-T and 1.97-fold for STAI-S in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia compared to the control group. In this study, the state/trait and death anxiety levels of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia were as high as patients with myocardial infarction.COVID-19 pneumonia-related anxiety was associated with chronic diseases and smoking. Knowing the level of anxiety in these patients is important to provide better health services in the emergency departments.

    Abstract Background: Diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) in its early stages is important for reversing ischemic damage. The CRP to albumin (CRP/Alb) ratio has been defined as an inflammatory indicator and is associated with the severity of inflammation and mortality rates. However, the prognostic value of CRP/Alb has not been evaluated in patients with AMI. Here, we aimed to examine the prognostic significance of CRP/Alb and compare it with other inflammatory markers.
    Materials and methods: In this retrospective, case-control study, we included patients diagnosed with AMI at the emergency department between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2020. In addition to demographic characteristics, lactate, D-dimer, white blood cell (WBC), CRP/Alb, and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) were recorded. Testing characteristics of CRP/Alb in predicting in-hospital mortality were studied.
    Results: The mean age of 132 patients was 66.48 ± 15.95 years and 71 (53.8%) of them were male. The cut-off value obtained using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for in-hospital mortality was a CRP/Alb ratio of >1.32 (sensitivity, 93.65%; specificity, 69.57%; +LR, 3.08; -LR, .091; AUC, .782; 95% CI, .70-.85;
    Conclusion: C-reactive protein/albumin ratio is a powerful predictor of in-hospital mortality for AMI patients. It was superior to WBC, NLR, and lactate. It could be used to determine low-risk patients and help clinicians with treatment options.

    Abstract Due to the increase in food-borne diseases, especially in recent years, consumers' orientation to healthy products and their emphasis on consumption force producers to environmentally friendly products. Nitrogen is the most widely used plant nutrient in the world. Nitrogen, a very expensive input due to its excessive use, pollutes the environment and causes nitrate accumulation in plants. Therefore, vegetable growers strive to replace chemical fertilizers such as nitrogen with environmentally friendly and cost-effective sources. PGPRs stand out in this regard and at the same time, their potential in environmentally and consumer-friendly vegetable production needs to be revealed. In this study, the importance and potential role of N2-fixing PGPR are discussed for the improvement of yield and yield components in environment-friendly vegetable production for healthy human nutrition.

    Abstract Purpose: Duodenal/pancreatic injuries occur in less than 10% of intra-abdominal injuries in pediatric blunt trauma. Isolated duodenal/pancreatic injuries occur in two-thirds of cases, while combined injuries occur in the remaining. This study aimed to investigate pediatric patients with pancreatic and duodenal trauma.
    Methods: Data from 31 patients admitted to Atatürk University, Medical Faculty, Department of Pediatric Surgery for pancreatic/duodenal trauma between 2010 and 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Age/gender, province of origin, duration before hospital admission, trauma type, injured organs, injury severity, diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, complications, hospitalization duration, blood transfusion requirement, and mortality rate were recorded.
    Results: Twenty-four patients were male, and 7 were female. The mean age was 9 years. The leading cause was bicycle accidents, with 12 cases, followed by traffic accidents/bumps, with 7 cases each. Comorbid organ injuries accompanied 18 cases. Duodenal trauma was most commonly accompanied by liver injuries (4/8), whereas pancreatic injury by pulmonary injuries (7/23). Serum amylase at initial hospital presentation was elevated in 83.9% of the patients. Thirty patients underwent abdominal CT, and FAST was performed in 20. While 54.8% of the patients were conservatively managed, 45.2% underwent surgery.
    Conclusion: Because of the anatomical proximity of the pancreas and the duodenum, both organs should be considered being co-affected by a localized trauma. Radiologic confirmation of perforation in duodenal trauma and an intra-abdominal pancreatic pseudocyst in pancreatic trauma are the most critical surgical indications of pancreaticoduodenal trauma. Conservative management's success is increased in the absence of duodenal perforation and cases of non-symptomatic pancreatic pseudocyst.

    Abstract The most widely used statistical method that is used to determine the wind energy potential for a specific region is Weibull distribution or probability function. Using two-parameter Weibull distribution function, wind characteristics such as mean wind speed and mean wind power can be forecasted. In this study, the mean wind speed and wind power potential for Antalya are determined using Graphical, Moment and Maximum Likelihood methods with the help of the data taken from Antalya-Elmalı Meteorological Station. In this way, predicting the wind energy potential of Antalya region, it is discussed whether the possible installation of a wind power plant is feasible or not in this area. The results obtained are evaluated by using error analysis methods that are the Coefficient of Determination (R2) and Root Mean Squares Error (RMSE).
