Abstract The objective was to evaluate the influence of residual bone height (RBH) and implant macro-design on the primary stability (PS) of implants using a simultaneous sinus floor elevation (SFE) and implant insertion model. Fresh bovine rib samples that resembled type-IV density that were confirmed by computerized tomography were prepared to represent 4 groups of varying RBHs (3, 6, 9, 15 mm). To simulate simultaneous implant insertion with SFE, 120 implants in different macro-designs (group R: NobelReplace; group P: NobelParallel; group A: NobelActive, Nobel Biocare, Gothenburg, Sweden) were randomly inserted at RBHs of 3, 6, 9, and 15 mm in each rib. The implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured immediately after implant insertion. RBH and implant macro-design have an impact on ISQ values (P < .001). ISQ values were the highest with RBH of 15 mm, followed by RBHs of 9, 6, and 3 mm. (P < .001). There was no statistically significant difference between different implant macro-designs at RBHs of 3 and 15 mm regarding ISQ values (P = .111, P = .551). ISQ values of group P were higher than those of group R and group A at an RBH of 6 mm (P = .049, P = .029). ISQ values were also higher in group P compared to group A at an RBH of 9 mm (P = .006). A higher PS may be expected in sites with higher RBH, regardless of the macro-design. In addition, cylindric implant design may enhance the PS at RBHs of 6 and 9 mm in simultaneous implant insertion with SFE.

Abstract Introduction: The aim of this study is to assess the risk of peroneal artery injury of hardware placement at the fixation of syndesmotic injuries.
Materials and methods: The lower extremity computed tomography angiography was used to design the study. The syndesmosis screw placement range was simulated every 0.5 cm, from 0.5 to 5 cm proximal to the ankle joint. The screw axes were drawn as 20°, 30° or individual angle according to the femoral epicondylar axis. The proximity between the screw axis and the peroneal artery was measured in millimeters. Potential peroneal artery injury was noted if the distance between the peroneal artery to the axis of the simulated screw was within the outer shaft radius of the simulated screw. The Pearson chi-square test was used and a p-value < 0.05 was considered significant.
Results: The potential for injury to the peroneal artery increased as the syndesmosis screw level rose proximally from the ankle joint level or as the diameter of the syndesmosis screw increasds. In terms of syndesmosis screw trajection, the lowest risk of injury was observed with the syndesmosis screw angle of 20°. Simulations with a screw diameter of 3.5 mm exhibited the least potential for peroneal artery injury.
Conclusion: Thanks to this radiological anatomy simulation study, we believe that we have increased the awareness of the peroneal artery potential in syndesmosis screw application. Each syndesmosis screw placement option may have different potential for injury to the peroneal artery. To decrease the peroneal artery injury potential, we recommend the followings. If individual syndesmosis screw angle trajection can be measured, place the screw 1.5 cm proximal to the ankle joint using a 3.5 mm screw shaft. If not, fix it with 30° trajection regardless of the screw diameter at the same level. If the most important issue is the peroneal artery circulation, use the screw level up to 1 cm proximal to the ankle joint regardless of the screw angle trajection and screw diameter.

Abstract This study aimed to examine the effect of using oleogel as a frying medium on the quality of coated and deep-fried chicken products. Sunflower oil-based oleogels prepared with 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% carnauba wax were produced for deep frying of coated chicken products and were compared to sunflower and commercial frying oil based on palm oil. The increased carnauba wax concentration in the oleogel decreased the pH, oil, oil absorbance and TBARS value of coated chicken (p < 0.05). Samples deepfried with oleogels containing 1.5% and 2% carnauba wax had the lowest pH values. In addition, since the oil absorption during deep-frying was significantly reduced in these groups (1.5 and 2%), the fat contents of coated products were also lower (p < 0.05). The use of oleogel as a frying medium did not cause a significant change in the color values of the coated chicken products. However, the increased carnauba wax concentration in the oleogel increased the hardness of coated chicken (p < 0.05). As a result, sunflower oilbased oleogels with a carnauba wax content of 1.5% and higher which is healthier in terms of saturated fat content can be used as frying media and can be improved the quality of coated and deep-fried chicken products.

Abstract Introduction: This study aimed to determine the factors influencing the hedonic hunger status of overweight adults and to examine the relationship between hedonic hunger, self-stigmatisation and self-esteem in terms of weight.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 353 people living with obesity who applied to the Endocrine and Internal Medicine Clinic in Samsun, Turkey, between June and October 2022. The data were collected using the Personal Information Form, Power of Food Scale (PFS), Weight Self-Stigmatisation Questionnaire (WSSQ) and Self-Liking/Self-Competence Scale (SLSC) through face-to-face survey method.
Results: About 53.3% of the participants were ≥45 years old, 80.5% were married and 69.1% had previously followed weight loss diet. It was found that those who were aged <45 years, single, those who perceived themselves as overweight, those who had used weight loss diets before and those whose waist-hip ratio were normal had higher hedonic hunger scores (p < 0.05). A negative and significant correlation was found between PSF-Tr general dimension scores and SLSC general dimension, whereas a significant and positive correlation was observed between PSF-Tr general dimension scores and WSSQ general dimension (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: As hedonic hunger increased in adults with overweight, self-esteem decreased, and self-stigmatisation in terms of weight increased. Effective interventions are needed to cope with the hedonic hunger that contributes to obesity and to prevent the stigma and low self-esteem experienced by people living with obesity because of their excess weight.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate stability outcomes and failure rates associated with four types of lingual retainers: (1) dead-soft wire, (2) multistrand stainless steel (SS) wire, (3) CAD/CAM nitinol, and (4) connected bonding pads (CBPs) after 3 years of retention.
Methods: This study enrolled 96 patients (66 females, 30 males) with a median age of 19 years with four types of lingual retainers: (1) 0.016 × 0.022-inch dead-soft wire, (2) 0.0215-inch five-strand SS wire, (3) 0.014 × 0.014-inch CAD/CAM nitinol wire, and (4) CBPs. The irregularity index, intercanine distances, and arch lengths were obtained and used to evaluate mandibular stability. Failure rates were also assessed during this study. Data were statistically analysed.
Results: Irregularity increased, whereas intercanine width and arch length decreased after 3 years of retention. The greatest irregularity was associated with the CBPs and the least with the CAD/CAM retainers. Changes in stability measurements were significantly higher in the dead-soft wire and CBPs than those in the CAD/CAM nitinol and multistrand SS wires. Parallel to these changes, the frequency of failure yielded similar results with the same significance between the groups. The failure rate of CBPs, in contrast to the CAD/CAM nitinol and multistrand SS wires, was significantly higher in the right quadrant (P < .05).
Conclusion: After taking the 3-year results into consideration, CAD/CAM nitinol and multistrand SS wires were found to be more successful than the others in maintaining mandibular stability. The most failures were observed with CBPs after 3 years of retention.

Abstract A major problem in medicine and oncology is cancer recurrence through the activation of dormant cancer cells. A system scale examination of metabolic dysregulations associated with the cancer dormancy offers promise for the discovery of novel molecular targets for cancer precision medicine, and importantly, for the prevention of cancer recurrence. In this study, we mapped the total mRNA sequencing-based transcriptomic data from dormant cancer cell lines and nondormant cancer controls onto a human genome-scale metabolic network by using a graph-based approach, and two mass balance-based approaches with one based on reaction activity/inactivity and the other one on flux changes. The gene expression datasets were accessed from Gene Expression Omnibus (GSE83142 and GSE114012). This analysis included two diverse cancer types, a liquid and a solid cancer, namely, acute lymphoblastic leukemia and colorectal cancer. For the dormant cancer state, we observed changes in major adenosine triphosphate-producing pathways, including the citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, indicating a reprogramming in the metabolism of dormant cells away from Warburg-based energy metabolism. All three computational approaches unanimously predicted that folate metabolism, pyruvate metabolism, and glutamate metabolism, as well as valine/leucine/isoleucine metabolism are likely dysregulated in cancer dormancy. These findings provide new insights and molecular pathway targets on cancer dormancy, comprehensively catalog dormancy-associated metabolic pathways, and inform future research aimed at prevention of cancer recurrence in particular.

Abstract Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is characterized by exposed necrotic bone persisting for more than 8 weeks in the maxillofacial region in patients using antiresorptive or antiangiogenetic drugs for several treatment options like bone metastasis or osteoporosis. There are several treatment options studied in scientific literature, and one of them with promising results is using platelet concentrates adjunct to surgical therapy. The aim of this study is to examine the therapeutic effect of leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) on patients with MRONJ. This 2-centered study investigated patients referred to oral and maxillofacial surgery departments of 2 university clinics between the years 2014 and 2020 with the diagnosis of MRONJ. Demographic data, the indication of the drug usage, drug type, duration, administration route, and systemic comorbidities of the patients were recorded. L-PRF was applied to 20 osteonecrotic lesions of 19 patients following surgical debridement. The male/female ratio was 5/14. Except 1 of the patients, all of the indications of medication were neoplasia-related. The mean follow-up period of patients was 27.9±9.2 months. Most common antirezorptive drug was zoledronate (84.2%). Complete resolution was observed in 16 necrosis sites (80%). It could be concluded that the use of L-PRF may represent an important adjunct in the surgical management of MRONJ.

Abstract Introduction and hypothesis: We aimed to evaluate the outcomes, complication rates, and complication types of different labiaplasty techniques.
Methods: In this cross-sectional retrospective study, a total of 2,594 patients who underwent surgery owing to hypertrophy or asymmetry of the labium minus were retrospectively analyzed. Data were collected by individual interviews with 43 experts from different centers. The patients were between 18 and 50 years of age. During the interview information about the presence and nature of complications, and about concomitant or revision surgeries, were gathered. The surgeons who performed these surgeries were also questioned about their training and surgical experience.
Results: The most frequently observed complication was complete dehiscence, accounting for 29% of all complications. Complete dehiscence was most commonly seen after wedge resection (16 cases). The second most common complication was labium majus hematoma, accounting for 12.5% of all cases. Among the labiaplasty techniques, wedge resection had the highest complication rate at 3% (26 cases out of 753 patients). This was followed by composite labiaplasty at 1.2% (5 cases out of 395 patients), Z-plasty at 0.8% (1 case out of 123 patients), and trimming labiaplasty at 0.5% (7 cases out of 1,323 patients).
Conclusion: Considering the heterogeneity and low quality of the existing studies on this subject, this study provides valuable information for surgeons practicing in this field. However, further research is clearly warranted as female genital aesthetic procedures are being performed with a steadily increasing trend.

Abstract Purpose: The effectiveness of the Colorectal Cancer (CRC) screening program is assessed based on the reduction in CRC mortality and incidence rates over time. To accurately estimate the long-term impact, it is advisable to monitor additional indicators such as age and stage-specific incidence rates. Our objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of the National CRC Screening Program in Turkey and analyze its influence on disease stage at diagnosis and survival rates.
Methods: The National CRC Screening Program was considered an intervention and the distribution of local, regional, and distant diseases, and survival estimates were assessed before and after the intervention to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention.
Results: 518 patients were included in the study. At the time of diagnosis, localized, regional, and distant disease in pre-intervention were 31.3%, 42.9%, 25.8%, while post-intervention were 42.8%, 33.3%, 23.9%, respectively (p = 0.020). The relative effectiveness of the intervention in males, females, and 50-70 ages were calculated as 1.2[95% CI 0.95-1.73], 1.5[95% CI 1.04-2.18], and 1.6[95% CI 1.21-2.28] in localized disease, 0.8[95% CI 0.67-1.18], 0.6[95% CI 0.43-0.90], and 0.6[95% CI 0.46-0.81] in regional diseases, 0.8[95% CI 0.57-1.20], 1.1[95% CI 0.66-1.84], and 1.0[95% CI 0.70-1.57] in distant disease, respectively.
Conclusion: A noticeable shift in the disease stage at the time of diagnosis was observed; however, this shift varied among gender and age groups. To effectively evaluate the impact of a cancer screening program on reducing the incidence and mortality rates of the disease, it is essential to monitor and analyze these indicators alongside 5-10-year survival estimates and stage changes at the time of diagnosis.
