Abstract In the second edition of this highly successful book, the authors once again aim to equip the reader with up-to-date information. This book, containing more than 200 cadaveric photos and 200 illustrations, aims to familiarize physicians practicing botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT-A) and filler injection with the anatomy of the facial mimetic muscles, vessels, and soft tissues in order to enable them to achieve optimum cosmetic results while avoiding possible adverse events. Anatomic considerations of importance when administering BoNT-A and fillers are identified and in addition invaluable clinical guidelines are provided, highlighting, for example, the preferred injection points for BoNT-A and the adequate depth of filler injection. Unique insights are also offered into the differences between Asians and Caucasians with regard to relevant anatomy. The contributing authors include an anatomist who offers distinctive anatomic perspectives on BoNT-A and filler treatments and three expert physicians from different specialties, namely a dermatologist, a plastic surgeon, and a cosmetic physician, who share insights gained during extensive clinical experience in the use of BoNT-A and fillers.

Abstract NAD(P)H-quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) is an essential redox enzyme responsible for redox balance and energy metabolism. Despite of its importance, the brain contains high capacity of polyunsaturated fatty acids and maintains low levels of NQO1 expression. In this study, we examined how levels of NQO1 expression affects cell survival in response to toxic insults causing mitochondrial dysfunction and ferroptosis, and whether NQO1 has a potential as a biomarker in different stressed conditions. Following treatment with rotenone, overexpressed NQO1 in SH-SY5Y cells improved cell survival by reducing mitochondrial reductive stress via increased NAD

Abstract Background: Thickened nerve cross-sectional areas (CSA) have been investigated in compressive neuropathy, but the longitudinal extent of nerve swelling has yet to be evaluated. We did a volumetric assessment of the ulnar nerve in cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) with three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) modeling and investigated this relationship with clinical and electrodiagnostic parameters.
Methods: We compared 40 CuTS patient elbow MRIs to 46 patient elbow MRIs with lateral elbow epicondylitis as controls. The ulnar nerve was modeled with Mimics software and was assessed qualitatively and quantitatively. The CSA and ulnar nerve volumes were recorded, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was calculated for diagnostic performance. We analyzed clinical and electrodiagnostic parameters to investigate their relationship with the 3D ulnar nerve parameters.
Results: For the diagnosis of CuTS, the area under the curve value was 0.915 for the largest CSA and 0.910 for the volume in the ROC curve. The optimal cut-off was 14.53 mm
Conclusions: The 3D ulnar nerve volume, which is an integration or multilevel measurement of CSAs, showed diagnostic usefulness similar to CSA, but it correlated better with conduction velocity, indicating demyelination or early-to-moderate nerve damage in CuTS.
