Abstract At the end of the nineteenth century, Chinese intellectuals had to respond to the dire situation of their country. Against this background, the leading intellectual Kang Youwei aimed to re-establish some traditional values. Although Yang Zhu had long been employed rhetorically in pre-modern China, Kang reconstructed Yang Zhu as an ancient master who had a coherent theory centered around two expressions: wei wo (serving one’s own interest) and zong yu (indulging in desires). However, there is a tension in Kang’s attitudes towards Yang Zhu: on the one hand, he criticizes Yang Zhu for when he reflects upon the despotic nature of Chinese governance; on the other hand, Kang sees the positive sides of wei wo and zong yu in the achievement of the Great Unity. Despite the ambiguity, Kang’s choice of vocabulary still made an impact to the portrayals of Yang Zhu after his: his portrayal turned this master into someone highly relevant to modern China; he also showed the possibility of reading Yang Zhu in a positive light.

Abstract With the continuous development of technology, the advancement of various data sharing technologies has gradually penetrated into various fields. Thus, data sharing and security are vital to realizing the value of the data. Nevertheless, the original data sharing model is not easily monitored for traces of electronic data use. In addition, the reluctance of data providers to share their data is also a problem. In order to address the issues of traditional centralized data sharing and management in terms of security and control, this research proposes the data sharing model based on blockchain technology, thereby enabling secure access to data. Furthermore, this study evaluates the model in terms of functionality and security. The results show that the blockchain-based data sharing model designed in this paper has great feasibility, security, controllability, and efficiency.

Abstract The p6 domain of the Gag precursors (Gag p6) in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) plays multifunctional roles in the viral life cycle. It utilizes the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) system to facilitate viral budding and release from the plasma membrane through the interactions with the ESCRT-I component tumor susceptibility gene 101 (TSG101) and with the ALG-2 interacting protein X (ALIX). Moreover, Gag p6 contributes to viral replication by a range of posttranslational modifications such as SUMOylation, ubiquitination and phosphorylation. Additionally, Gag p6 also mediates the incorporation of the accessory protein Vpr into virions, thereby promoting Vpr-induced viral replication. However, less attention is focused on Gag p6 as therapeutic intervention. This review focuses on the structures and diverse functions of Gag p6 in viral replication, host cells, and pathogenesis. Additionally, several challenges were also discussed in studying the structure of Gag p6 and its interactions with partners. Consequently, it concludes that the Gag p6 represents an attractive target for the development of antiretroviral drugs, and efforts to develop p6-targeted antiretrovirals are expected to undergo significant growth in the forthcoming years.

Abstract Background: The pituitary tumor-transforming gene 1 (PTTG1), also recognized as securin, plays a crucial role in diverse biological processes, such as restraining sister chromatid segregation, facilitating DNA repair, contributing to organ development, and governing angiogenesis. Additionally, it regulates the expression and secretion of transfer factors. The epigenetic characteristics of PTTG1 suggest its potential in elucidating the progression of malignant tumors in pan-cancer. Nevertheless, the current comprehension of this relationship remains limited, necessitating further comprehensive studies to delve into the underlying pathogenesis.
Methods: This investigation aimed to explore the potential functions of PTTG1 in pan-cancer by leveraging existing databases, such as TCGA and GTEx. Notably, PTTG1 was overexpressed in nearly all tumors, indicating promising prognostic and diagnostic capabilities. Moreover, the observed correlation between PTTG1 and immune cell infiltration, immune checkpoint genes, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), and other immune features suggests its potential utility as a guide for immunotherapy.
Results: The study unveils that the downregulation of PTTG1 expression in neuroblastoma results in reduced cell proliferation and increased apoptosis, substantiating the proposition that PTTG1 could serve as both a prognostic biomarker and a potential target for immunotherapy across various cancer types.
Conclusions: This study centers on the exploration of the expression and role of PTTG1 in both tumors and the tumor microenvironment (TME), offering valuable insights for the development of cancer therapeutic strategies. These discoveries present potential alternative avenues for addressing clinically resistant cancers.
