Abstract Starch extracted from Chinese Yam (Dioscorea opposita Thunb var. Angao) was treated with 2.2 mol/L hydrochloric acid for different lengths of time, (2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 days). The recovery yield, morphological, crystalline, and particle size distribution properties were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), wide angle X-ray powder diffractometer (WAXRD), and laser light scattering particle size analysis (LLSPSA). The recovery yield decreased gradually with increasing hydrolysis time. The average particle size of the starch reduced continuously following acid thinning. The particle shape of the acid-thinned starch also changed significantly with acid hydrolysis. The most notable phenomenon was the conversion of thick starch granules (oval or spherical) to thin starch granules (caky or sheet). After acid hydrolysis for 32 days, most of the starch granules had disintegrated with many fragments visible. The crystalline type of the D. AG starch changed from C-type to A-type after 8 days of acid hydrolysis. This result was first found in the present study. The crystallinity level increased with increasing hydrolysis time.

Abstract Based on the consideration of the dual attributes of agricultural carbon emission and carbon sink, this study measures the agricultural carbon compensation rate (ACCR) of 31 provinces in China from 2006 to 2019, the impact of agricultural financial support on ACCR and its transmission mechanism are empirically analyzed using a spatial econometric model and intermediary effect model. The results show that: (1) a significant spatial correlation between agricultural financial support and ACCR; (2) increased agricultural financial support is conducive to the improvement of ACCR; (3) agricultural financial support has the most significant effect on the ACCR in the eastern region; (4) the effect of agricultural financial support on ACCR has a spatial spillover effect but is not significant; (5) agricultural technological progress is the intermediary variable that agricultural financial support affecting ACCR. Therefore, it is suggested to promote agricultural emission reduction through collaboration, innovative financial support mechanisms, implementation of differentiated financial support strategies, exerting the radiation effect of financial support to agriculture, and pushing up the level of agricultural mechanization.

Abstract Mycotoxin contamination in cereal is a global concern, threatening food safety and human health, necessitating the development of rapid on-site methods. Here, a label- and enzyme-free biosensor was developed based on aptamer-regulated DNA-silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) for rapid detection of ochratoxin A (OTA). A novel DNA-templated AgNCs emitting strong red fluorescence was designed and synthesized in this study. The partial sequence of the DNA template was selected from the complementary OTA aptamer (Apt-OTA) sequence, which can quench fluorescence from the AgNCs via hybridization in the absence of OTA. In the presence of OTA, the high OTA-Aptamer affinity prevented the Apt-OTA from quenching the AgNCs, resulting in "turn on" of the fluorescence. This biosensor eliminated the use of costly reagents, complex pretreatments, and sophisticated equipment, which could realize the point-of-care testing (POCT) of OTA with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1.3 nM and a detection time of 45 min.

Abstract The heat treatment and seasoning of meat are indispensable before its consumption. In this work, the spectral characteristics of cooked meat and condiments were analysed by hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology. The spectral reflectance of spices was significantly lower than that of meat protein, and that the spectral reflectance of protein regularly increased upon heating at 800–956 nm range. PCA pre-process and SVM models were used to predict beef moisture (R² = 0.912) and tenderness (R² = 0.771) based on 100 beef data. Mapping technology clearly showed the dynamic change of meat tenderness during heating, and the performance of 3D mapping was better than that of 2D mapping. Based on 750 nm/900 nm ratio image and machine-vision method, spice uniformity was accurately calculated. Thus, the quality of cooked meat and condiments distribution can be simultaneously evaluated by HSI. This technology can be used in the intelligent production of complex meat products in the future.

Abstract Due to its invaluable potential in discrete mechanical energy collection, TENG (triboelectric nanogenerator) is considered to satisfy the power requirements of intelligent electronic devices and drive the development of the Internet of Things (IoT). Nowadays, the promotion of TENGs has been hindered due to the limitation of their output performance and service life. Herein, a brand new triboelectric nanogenerator based on a multi-material stacking structure is proposed. By stacking various triboelectric materials in a specific order, a special charge balance state could be achieved inside the system such that the conductive layer generates more induced charges, and the output performance is significantly enhanced. Besides, due to the usage of the electropositive elastomer PU (polyurethane sponge), the design also effectively alleviates abrasion on the contact surface and adjusts its own output according to different compression environments. The experimental results show that the stacked PTFE/FKM/PU TENG (PFP-TENG) presents a more than 50% increase in transferred charge and almost 5 times the current output compared with the general contact-separation type TENG. When connected to the application circuit, the maximum output power reached 10.2 W m

Abstract Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that poses a serious risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, early detection of impaired cardiac function with non-invasive myocardial imaging is critical for improving the prognosis of patients with DM.
Purpose: This study aimed to assess the left ventricular (LV) function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by non-invasive myocardial work technique.
Materials and methods: In all, 67 patients with T2DM and 28 healthy controls were included and divided into a DM group and a control group. Two-dimensional dynamic images of apical three-chamber view, apical two-chamber view, and apical four-chamber view were collected from all subjects, consisting of at least three cardiac cycles. LV myocardial strain parameters, including global longitudinal strain (GLS) and peak strain dispersion (PSD), as well as myocardial work parameters, including global constructive work (GCW), global wasted work (GWW), global work index (GWI), and global work efficiency (GWE), were obtained and analyzed.
Results: A total of 15 subjects were randomly selected to assess intra-observer and inter-observer consistency of myocardial work parameters and strain parameters, which showed excellent results (intra-class correlation coefficients: 0.856 - 0.983,
Conclusion: Uncoordinated LV myocardial strain, higher GWW, and lower GWE in patients with T2DM may serve as indicators for the early assessment of cardiac impairment in T2DM.
