This article provides the development of the patent indexes and related researches in Taiwan, and generalizes the application of classification and implication of the patent indexes. Presently the related patent index researches in Taiwan could be distinguished the patent indexes into general characteristic, the quotation and the technology and so on. Such discrimination shows the essence of the patent information and if it can compare with the factors of time and professional fields and presents in the forms of the quantity, frequency or composite indexes, it can provide the appropriate information to the company, the industry or the country. This article not only offers the understanding of the present researches of the patent indexes, but also provides the reference of the policy formulation and the industrial layout. 頁次:88-106

Abstract Purpose: To assess the survival impact of pre-concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) staging with positron emission tomography-CT (PET-CT) in patients with unresectable epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation-positive adenocarcinoma.
Methods: Patients with unresectable stage IIIA-IIIC EGFR mutation-positive adenocarcinoma undergoing definitive CCRT were divided into two groups: those who received PET-CT staging prior to CCRT and those with other staging methods. Survival outcomes were compared after propensity score matching.
Results: Analysis of 11 856 patients (5928 in each group) showed that PET-CT staging was associated with improved survival (adjusted HR of all-cause mortality: 0.74, 95% CI 0.71 to 0.79). Other prognostic factors included male sex, age group, clinical stage, adjuvant treatment, smoking status, Charlson Comorbidity Index score and treatment setting.
Conclusion: Pre-CCRT staging with PET-CT in patients with unresectable EGFR mutation-positive adenocarcinoma of clinical stage IIIA-IIIC was associated with enhanced survival. Independent prognostic factors were also identified.

Abstract Reconstructing a spline surface from a given arbitrary topological triangle mesh is a fundamental and challenging problem in computer-aided design and engineering. This paper introduces a novel surface fitting method utilizing G-NURBS capable of handling control meshes with arbitrary topologies. This method employs adaptive control point adjustment, guided by the geometric attributes of the input model, ensuring precise representation of sharp features such as edges and corners. Two primary strategies are employed: a parameter correspondence approach designed for sharp features and a control mesh iterative refinement technique that incorporates geometrical feature information. The proposed method has been tested and evaluated on various CAD models to demonstrate its effectiveness. This method can achieve higher fitting accuracy while faithfully preserving the geometrical features with fewer control points.

Abstract Lungs and kidneys are two vital and frequently injured organs among critically ill patients. In this study, we attempt to develop a weaning prediction model for patients with both respiratory and renal failure using an explainable machine learning (XML) approach. We used the eICU collaborative research database, which contained data from 335 ICUs across the United States. Four ML models, including XGBoost, GBM, AdaBoost, and RF, were used, with weaning prediction and feature windows, both at 48 h. The model's explanations were presented at the domain, feature, and individual levels by leveraging various techniques, including cumulative feature importance, the partial dependence plot (PDP), the Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) plot, and local explanation with the local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME). We enrolled 1789 critically ill ventilated patients requiring hemodialysis, and 42.8% (765/1789) of them were weaned successfully from mechanical ventilation. The accuracies in XGBoost and GBM were better than those in the other models. The discriminative characteristics of six key features used to predict weaning were demonstrated through the application of the SHAP and PDP plots. By utilizing LIME, we were able to provide an explanation of the predicted probabilities and the associated reasoning for successful weaning on an individual level. In conclusion, we used an XML approach to establish a weaning prediction model in critically ill ventilated patients requiring hemodialysis.
