Abstract Croatian pedunculate oak ( Quercus robur L.) populations represent southern range peripheral populations, often viewed as sources of valuable diversity and drought-resistant ecotypes. At the same time, they endure stronger selection pressures as a result of climate change. The leaves of 20 individuals per population (17) were sampled in a field trial and analyzed using 10 nuclear and 9 chloroplast SSRs to determine the level of intrapopulation genetic variability and genetic differentiation. Analysis with nSSRs revealed deviation from HWE in seven populations. AMOVA showed a high intra-population diversity (98.53%) and a small but statistically significant inter-population differentiation. Isolation by distance explained 19.6% of differentiation. Average F ST between populations was low (0.013) compared with usual values for peripheral populations. Populations were rich in cpSSR haplotypes, confirming the hotspot of diversity caused by the encounter of recolonization routes. Unbiased haplotype diversity ( H E ) from 9 chloroplast SSRs and 325 individuals was ( H E = 0.440). Sixty-six different haplotypes were grouped in three maternal lineages by both a median-joining network and a neighbor-joining algorithm. AMOVA for cpSSRs showed statistically significant diversity among populations (70.23%), suggesting genetic differentiation, but also a probable anthropogenic effect. AMOVA of nSSRs within and between lineages showed that original recolonization patterns of nuclear diversity were subsequently erased by gene flow.

Abstract Introduction: Decreased physical activity is a major cardiovascular risk factor that is particularly pronounced in people living with HIV (PLHIV), who are more susceptible to endothelial dysfunction and accelerated atherosclerosis than the general population due to multiple mechanisms. The aim of the present study was to analyse whether regular physical activity is capable of improving endothelial function measured by flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) in PLHIV.
Methods: We performed FMD measurement in 38 PLHIV, along with the assessment of their regular physical activity level using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ).
Results: Flow-mediated dilatation results in PLHIV were 0.31 ± 0.06 mm and 7.34% ± 1.41% for absolute and relative FMD, respectively. IPAQ results showed that the average weekly level of physical activity was 3631.1 ± 1526.7 MET-min/week, whereas the average daily sitting time was 287.3 ± 102.7 min/day. Predictors jointly accounted for 48% (adjusted value 42%) of FMD variance. Bootstrapped confidence levels revealed that physical activity had a statistically significant effect on the outcome [beta = 0.517, 2.5% confidence interval (CI) = 0.205, 97.5% CI = 0.752].
Conclusion: Physical activity represents a widely available and uncostly tool that is capable of improving endothelial function and overall cardiovascular health in PLHIV.

Abstract Drinking patterns and types of alcoholic beverages consumed in Croatia vary from culture to culture as well as between different social strata. Alcohol drinking in Croatia is a socially accepted behaviour, and society has a high tolerance for drinking alcohol as a cultural pattern and an accepted style of behaviour deeply rooted in tradition. In its continental part, Croatia belongs to the pattern of drinking of Eastern and Central European peoples by drinking alcoholic beverages, while in the coastal areas, it belongs to the Mediterranean pattern, dominated by wine drinking. Taking comorbidity into account significantly contributes to the quality and success of alcoholics’ treatment and improves prognosis. Abuse and alcohol addiction in women have been steadily increasing in recent decades. The results of numerous studies, as well as the experience gained in clinical work, show that there are significant differences in the customs, phenomenology and cultural patterns of alcohol consumption in the north and south of Croatia, and that alcoholism can be associated with suicide rates, Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression in the north and south of Croatia. Analyses of the phenomenology and cultural patterns of alcohol consumption in the north and south of Croatia in this article, as well as the results of numerous studies, indicate the need to take into account the sociocultural influences and specificities of a particular country when designing prevention and promotion programs as a precondition for their success, and that in planning interventions and therapeutic procedures in alcoholics should always be sensitive to cultural differences.

Methods: Serum samples from 806 pregnant women (28.29 ± 4.50 years old) who came for a consultation at the Timisoara Clinical Emergency City Hospital between 2008 and 2010 were tested for anti-CMV IgM/IgG antibodies, and data about demography, obstetrical history, pregnancy complications, birth, and neonate were collected. The data were compared between the groups with and without latent CMV infection, and statistical significance was calculated.
Results: We did not find a difference regarding cesarean section (OR = 0.916,
Conclusions: The presence of latent CMV infection does not affect the likelihood of complications in healthy women. A borderline significantly higher prevalence of miscarriage history was found in women with latent CMV infection.

Abstract Various biomarkers like certain complete blood cell count parameters and the derived ratios including neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio are commonly used to evaluate disease severity. Our study aimed to establish if baseline levels of complete blood cell count-derived biomarkers and CRP, measured before any treatment which can interfere with their values, could serve as a predictor of development of pneumonia and the need for hospitalization requiring oxygen therapy. We retrospectively analyzed the laboratory data of 200 consecutive patients without comorbidities, who denied usage of medications prior to blood analysis and visited a COVID-19 ambulance between October and December 2021. Multivariate regression analysis extracted older age, elevated CRP and lower eosinophil count as significant independent predictors of pneumonia (

Abstract The decision made by top management to form an internal audit should be aimed at improving the security of the entire company. This ensures the safety of top management in all enterprises, especially in agricultural enterprises that rely on primary agriculture and processing of agricultural products with the aim of producing production that is more valuable than primary agricultural products. Internal audit should be introduced in the regular course of business of the enterprise with the aim of improving the overall security of the business of the enterprise. One form of implementation is to improve internal controls already in place by giving internal management advice and advice to top management on how to improve the controls already in place. The contribution of the authors who made this study is to emphasize and emphasize the importance of implementing internal audit, which, after the decision of top management to introduce internal audit in the processes of business operations of the company. The aim of such a decision is to increase the security of the business of the enterprise and, together with the existing internal control, to build a more secure business system in order to contribute to the improvement of the performance of the agricultural enterprise. The process was emphasized by the authors as being continuous and not carried out in the short term because the postulates of setting up and setting up a business are presumably permanent and long-term.

Abstract Business decision-making as part of management and decision-making in industrial enterprises depends on the interaction of multiple internal and external factors. Business decision-making is part of the business decisions that top management makes every day with the goal of good company management. This is of great importance for the practical functioning of enterprises in transition countries. Their economies are heavily influenced by developed economies that impose their own rules of conduct that often do not suit countries in transition. Therefore, the importance of studying business decision-making is increasing. This is important for the operation and functioning of an industrial enterprise, because the strength of an economy is directly dependent on the strength of industrial economies. Applying valid business decisions can have a major impact on making the right business decisions of the top management of an industrial enterprise. On this basis, it is clear to see the true importance of the link between making valid, timely business decisions of top management of an industrial enterprise and the achieved business results as a result of the conducted business activities of an industrial enterprise in a certain real time period of observation. This is the primary goal and contribution that the authors of this paper make in this study. It is possible to apply in many transition countries.

Abstract Internal audit in a large number of heterogeneous companies contributes to the improvement of the overall business of the company by contributing to the improvement and making new business decisions. This generally improves and modernizes enterprise management. Top management decisions based on the recommendations of internal company auditors are less risky. Management risk with management using the decisions and recommendations of internal auditors has a lower degree of risk. Thus, top management decisions are made with less risk to the survival of the company. Management should be seen as the governing body of the company. He, as the governing body, is constantly looking for a way to improve management in the enterprise. The processes for establishing internal audit mechanisms should be designed to contribute to the structural improvement of the overall management of any enterprise with respect to the business in which it operates, the size of the enterprise, and more. Internal audit can contribute to helping top management by making continuous recommendations that can help top management improve enterprise management. The authors emphasize that their contribution in this paper is primarily focused on demonstrating the importance of introducing internal audit in companies. This becomes part of the management structure of the company by adopting the recommendations of internal auditors from the corporate governance body or top management of the company.

Abstract Point-of-Care ultrasound (POCUS) is based on target ultrasound that is performed wherever a patient is being treated, and by a non-radiologist directly involved in the patient's care. It is used either for quick diagnosis or procedural guidance. Abdominal pain is one of the most common complaints in emergency departments, and POCUS can help in the differentiation of patients who need additional diagnostic tests or hospital treatment, which eventually reduces the overall costs of health care. POCUS has high sensitivity and specificity in abdominal pathology, it can be helpful in the evaluation of biliary, intestinal, and urinary tract, and it is especially used in trauma. Additionally, the gold standard for abdominal aortic aneurysm detection, follow up and screening is precisely this diagnostic procedure. Unfortunately, the quality of ultrasound examination can be affected by the experience of the physician performing it and the patient's body weight. There is no doubt that POCUS is being increasingly recognized, but all motivated physicians should be provided with dedicated tutors and enough time for learning. This would certainly help to implement this diagnostic method as a routine in emergency and critical care departments, and significantly shorten the time until definitive diagnosis.
