Title translation Charles II: From spell to genitourinary pathology.
Abstract Objectives: We attempt to unravel the complex condition of the last king of the Hapsburg dynasty in Spain, Charles II, called The Bewitched, in whom a genitourinary disorder was preponderant, preventing him from fulfilling one of the objectives of the monarchial institution, engendering a heir, and causing a series of complications that led to his death.
Methods: We review the works describing the life of the King, with special emphasis on his bloodline, the doubts about his sex at birth, his pathological processes, the repercussion among European Courts, but above all on his marriages and the inability to engender an heir. We also emphasize the thought of 17th century Spanish society which led to the belief that he was bewitched. The nickname he passed into history with.
Results: It was deduced that he could have presented posterior hypospadias which, together with monorchism and atrophic testicle, led to the belief that he presented an intersexual state with ambiguous genitals. The physical phenotype leans more towards true hermaphro-ditism and above all a XX male, rather than the more often attributed Klinefelter's syndrome. This is probably also associated with a fragile X syndrome. Very possibly congenital monorenal, death was due to chronic kidney failure caused by glomerulopathy or interstitial nephro-pathy as a consequence of renal lithiasis plus recurrent infections of the urinary tract.
Conclusions: As a result of a reiterated endogamic matrimonial policy, the Hapsburg dynasty died out in Spain in 1700, represented by Charles II, a pluripatho-logical king who can only be freed from speculation by chromosomal and genetic studies of his remains buried in El Escorial monastery.

Title translation Da Vinci robot assisted radical prostatectomy: one year experience at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos.
Abstract Objectives: Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid is the first Spanish public centre using the latest surgical technology: the Da Vinci robot. First operation was carried out in our department in October 9th 2006. Since then, numerous changes have happened which enabled us to overcome difficulties, to complete the learning curve.
Methods: Between October 9th 2006 and November 30th 2007 we performed 30 radical prostatectomies with the Da Vinci robot. Mean patient age was 63 years (47-70 years) with an ASA (American society of anesthesia) risk below III in all cases, a Gleason score between 2 and 8 and a PSA < or = 15 (3.5-15). Mean prostatic volume measured by transrectal ultrasound was 36 cc (16-90 cc).
Results/conclusions: Six trocars and a 15 mm Hg pneumoperitoneum were employed. Mean operative room occupation time was 5.9 hours (4-14 hours). Two cases were converted to open surgery and one to laparoscopy. No major intraoperative complications have happened. In the immediate post-operative period, 2 patients presented plexopathy and arthralgia, 1 infection at the site of one trocar, and 2 haematomas at the site of trocar insertion. Sixteen patients required transfusion (mean 1 red blood cells unit (0-4)). Bladder catheter was retrieved between 5th and 21st post-operative days (mean 11 days). Regarding continence: 10 patients were completely continent or present mild incontinence (0-1 pad) and 5 had moderate incontinence (2-5 pads). Three patients preserve sexual potency, the rest show different grades of dysfunction.

Abstract DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17227/01234870.38folios61.74 This article examines how the daily newspaper El Tiempo represented the campaigns of the candidates Alvaro Uribe and Carlos Gaviria in the 2006 Colombian presidential election. In particular, this study analyses strategies such as the socio-discursive phenomenon of legitimisation, proposed by Pardo (2007), which manifests itself in the newspaper’s representation of the candidates and their campaigns during the week before the election. By means of a comparative analysis of the linguistic processes of authorisation, evaluation and mitigation, and their correlation with three concepts in political science such as charismatic authority (Weber, 1983), Bonapartism (Moncayo, 2004) and legitimacy (Lipset, 1981), conclusions are reached regarding the stance adopted by the newspaper in terms of the two candidates. It is concluded that El Tiempo favoured Uribe’s campaign because of the charismatic representation of his political figure and the legitimisation of his political project. In contrast, the newspaper made the figure of Carlos Gaviria invisible and represented his project as contrary to the interests of the majority of the country.

Abstract Background: Evidence on real-world outcomes of ustekinumab for ulcerative colitis (UC) patients is needed.
Aims: To summarise evidence on the real-world outcomes of ustekinumab for UC and conduct a meta-analysis of effectiveness and safety data.
Methods: A systematic search was conducted through September 2022 in electronic databases for observational studies evaluating ustekinumab for UC. A random-effects meta-analysis model was used to calculate the pooled effect sizes (percentages or incidence rates [IRs]) of effectiveness and safety outcomes.
Results: In all, 19 studies were included with 3786 patients. More than 92% of patients were previously treated with any biologic, 61.1% with both anti-TNF and vedolizumab and 16.4% with any biologic and tofacitinib. Clinical remission was achieved in 45.4% at week 8 (95% CI: 30.1%-60.6%), 43.8% (38.4%-49.2%) at weeks 12-16, 44.6% (35.9%-53.3%) at month 6, and 50.6% (36.3%-64.8%) at month 12. Response was achieved in 61.2%, 59.4%, 65.2% and 76.8% at weeks 8, 12-16, month 6 and 12, respectively. CS-free remission was achieved in 18.7%, 36.8%, 34.5% and 39% at weeks 8, 12-16, month 6 and 12, respectively. Overall, 58.2% of patients had endoscopic improvement at month 12. Almost 30% of the patients needed dose escalation, which was effective in 40% of these patients. The IRs of colectomy, adverse events (AEs), serious AEs and serious infections were 4.8, 7.9, 0.8 and 0.3 per 100 patient-years, respectively.
Conclusions: This meta-analysis confirms the effectiveness and safety of ustekinumab in a highly treatment-refractory population of UC patients.

Abstract Studies were carried in Red delicious apple grove in Mendoza during two seasons: 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 with objective of analyze morphologically stages of development of Parlatoria oleae (Colvée) and explain the population development (number of generations) related to accumulated degree days. Were sampled five plant from which were obtained five outbreaks and five fruits, were counted in the laboratory individuals under stereo microscope, separating the different stages of development: eggs (h), first nymphal stage (N1), second nymphal stage (N2), female (H), prepupa and pupa (P). With the data obtained were elaborated population curves that represented the annual generations of the specie. Through direct observation and stereo microscope with micrometric lens was made analysis descriptive and morphological, the simple sine formula belonging at the program of calculus of degree days of the California University used to obtain the integral termic of the species. The scale presented two annuals generations with maximum first instar nymphs (N1) in spring (October, 240-270 °D) and summer (February, 1490-1505 °D). In winter only were found females fertilized. The constant termic generational obtained of data, considering a lower threshold temperature of 10 °C and maximum of 32 °C, was estimated at 825-870 °D in 115-103 days accumulated in the first generation and 1,300 °D in 260 days for the second generation considering the winter passage.

Abstract Proactive cognition brain models are mainstream nowadays. Within these, preparation is understood as an endogenous, top-down function that takes place prior to the actual perception of a stimulus and improves subsequent behavior. Neuroimaging has shown the existence of such preparatory activity separately in different cognitive domains, however no research to date has sought to uncover their potential similarities and differences. Two of these, often confounded in the literature, are Selective Attention (information relevance) and Perceptual Expectation (information probability). We used EEG to characterize the mechanisms that pre-activate specific contents in Attention and Expectation. In different blocks, participants were cued to the relevance or to the probability of target categories, faces vs. names, in a gender discrimination task. Multivariate Pattern (MVPA) and Representational Similarity Analyses (RSA) during the preparation window showed that both manipulations led to a significant, ramping-up prediction of the relevant or expected target category. However, classifiers trained with data from one condition did not generalize to the other, indicating the existence of unique anticipatory neural patterns. In addition, a Canonical Template Tracking procedure showed that there was stronger anticipatory perceptual reinstatement for relevance than for expectation blocks. Overall, the results indicate that preparation during attention and expectation acts through distinguishable neural mechanisms. These findings have important implications for current models of brain functioning, as they are a first step towards characterizing and dissociating the neural mechanisms involved in top-down anticipatory processing.

Abstract Chromosomal instability (CIN) is the result of ongoing changes in the number (aneuploidy) and structure of chromosomes. CIN is induced by chromosome missegregation in mitosis and leads to karyotypic diversity within the cancer cell population, thereby adding to intratumor heterogeneity. Regardless of the overall pro-oncogenic function of CIN, its onset is typically detrimental for cell fitness and thus tumors must develop CIN-tolerance mechanisms in order to propagate. There is overwhelming genetic and functional evidence linking mutations in the tumor suppressor
