Abstract The study intended to determine the correlation among coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and variable abnormalities in liver function test, lipids, and thyroid hormones. The study included 160 infected COVID-19 patients (80 females and 80 male) and 100 subjects as a control group (50 females and 50 males), attended the Al-Sader Medical City in Al-Najaf, Iraq during the period between January 2021 to October 2021. The patients' age ranged from 16-80 years old. Liver enzymes, lipid profile and thyroid hormone were tested. The results revealed a significant increase in liver function levels including alanine transaminase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and Albumin (p < 0.05). Also, there was an increase in lipids levels including total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides. The result showed significant difference in levels of thyroid hormones triiodothyronine, thyroxine and thyroid stimulating hormone between COVID-19 infected patients and the control group. As well the antithyroid antibodies (thyroglobulin antibody, thyroid peroxidase antibody and thyrotropin receptor antibodies) were increased. There was a correlation between increasing thyroid hormones and their antibodies with infection by COVID-19. This study concluded that COVID-19 infection can induce disturbances in liver and thyroid function tests and changes in the lipid metabolism.

Abstract This paper presents a numerical investigation of the flow of a non-Newtonian tangent hyperbolic nanofluid over a nonlinearly stretched surface, taking into account factors such as thermal radiation, prescribed surface temperature, and a chemical reaction mechanism. Furthermore, the analysis includes the consideration of both viscous dissipation and the influence of a magnetic field within a Darcy porous medium. A mathematical framework for addressing the issue, rooted in the principles of conserving momentum, energy, and mass. The MATHEMATICA tools were employed to apply the shooting technique in order to solve the modeled equations describing the temperature, velocity, and concentration fields of the proposed physical system. Graphs are used to illustrate how certain key parameters affect the profiles of concentration, velocity, and temperature. Data tables are utilized to display information pertaining to the local Nusselt number, local Sherwood number, and local skin friction coefficient. The present results have been confirmed through a comparison with previously published findings. This research holds significant importance as it focuses on the extensive utilization of tangent hyperbolic nanofluids in cooling electronic components that produce substantial heat during their operation. The observed pattern indicates that as the local Weisbsenberg number, magnetic number, local porous parameter, and power law index increase, there is a reduction in the boundary layer thickness. Conversely, in the instances of concentration and temperature distributions, an escalation in these parameters leads to an expansion of the boundary layer thickness.

Abstract The objective of this paper is to examine the flow of a non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid induced by a permeable stretching sheet in motion within a porous medium. The research incorporates the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model to study the heat transfer process. The utilization of the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux approach becomes relevant in scenarios involving materials with high thermal conductivity or during short time intervals. Consequently, the current investigation holds significant importance. It is assumed that the viscosity of the Maxwell fluid changes exponentially as the temperature changes. The modeling of the physical phenomena being investigated takes into account the effects of a magnetic field, thermal radiation, velocity, and thermal slip conditions. In this study, the viscous dissipation phenomenon is taken into account because it can have notable impacts on the temperature and viscosity of the fluid, and is known to play a crucial role in fluid flow phenomena. The equations developed to model fluid flow are transformed into nonlinear ordinary differential equations through the use of appropriate similarity transformations. The focus of the research revolves around investigating the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations accompanied by boundary conditions using the shooting technique. The findings are then showcased via tables and graphs and scrutinized in order to arrive at conclusions. Furthermore, the precision of the present findings was evaluated by contrasting the heat transfer rate with outcomes that were previously published. Based on the obtained outcomes, it can be concluded that both the Eckert number and thermal radiation have a comparable enhancing influence, whereas the thermal relaxation parameter and thermal slip parameter exhibit opposing effects.

Abstract Mathematical filtration is an efficient tool to resolve the overlapping spectra of binary mixtures in zero or first order form. Herein, a comparative study was conducted between six economic, accurate and precise spectrophotometric methods for determination of Triclabendazole (TCB) and Levamisole HCl (LVM). Each component was resolved with minimum mathematical steps in its zero-order absorption spectrum by ratio subtraction, constant multiplication, and the recent factorized response method; coupled with spectrum subtraction. In addition, the mixture was resolved in its first derivative form by derivative subtraction, D

Abstract Background: Preeclampsia is a hypertensive pregnancy-related disorder. The etiology of preeclampsia is still not fully elucidated. Genetic factors are suggested to play a vital role.
Aim: The association between p53, miRNA-21, and lncRNA-TCL6 expression levels and the risk of preeclampsia and its onset and severity in pregnant women was evaluated.
Method: Expression levels of the analyzed RNAs were assessed in the serum samples from 75 preeclamptic pregnant women and 75 volunteer pregnant women with an uncomplicated pregnancy.
Results: Cases showed upregulated p53, lnc-TCL6, and downregulated miRNA-21. P53 expression and preeclampsia severity were substantially correlated, while miRNA-21 and lnc-TCL6 were not. None of them was associated with preeclampsia onset. In diagnosing preeclampsia, p53 had the best sensitivity (98.67 %), followed by miRNA-21 (97.33 %) and lnc-TCL6 (92 %). P53 had the highest sensitivity (68.42 %) for distinguishing mild from severe cases. Lnc-TCL6 exhibited 52.63 % sensitivity, while miRNA-21 had 52.63 % sensitivity. Finally, for discriminating early and late-onset cases, miRNA-21 demonstrated the highest sensitivity (66 %), followed by p53 (62 %) and lnc-TCL6 (54 %). P53 expression was inversely correlated with proteinuria. Parity, TLC, platelet count, AST, and ALT were positively correlated, while lnc-TCL6 expression was negatively correlated with miRNA-21 expression. However, parity negatively correlated with lnc-TCL6 expression.
Conclusion: P53, miRNA-21, and lnc-TCL6 were dysregulated in preeclampsia compared to normal pregnancy, highlighting the role of apoptosis in its development. P53 can be a prognostic marker for preeclampsia, discriminating between mild and severe cases.
