Abstract Atrial myxoma (AM) is the most common primary cardiac tumor. Its clinical presentation can be highly heterogeneous and can be characterized by many constitutional manifestations and development of rheumatologic symptoms. We report the case of a patient presenting with a seronegative arthritis characterized by articular and enthesis involvement and purpuric cutaneous lesions that was refractory to conventional treatments and that was later diag- nosed with an AM as first cause of the manifestations. AM can present with different symptoms; among them, it is able to cause some rheumatological manifestation as it is able to secrete proinflammatory cytokines, as interleukin 6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), and interferon γ (IFN-γ). The present case is of particular interest as it presents an AM as the cause of an inflammatory arthropathy with articular and enthesis involvement. A paraneoplastic screening is always relevant in rheumatology, especially when encountering a refractory disease.

Abstract The Rorschach inkblot test allows access to psychological processes that usually do not emerge in self-report measures and it has been widely used in clinical psychological and psychiatric settings. Recordings of brain activity during the administration of the Rorschach inkblots test could provide information on neural correlates of the underlying perceptual-cognitive processing and potentially identify neuroimaging markers of psychopathology risk. The present paper offers a systematization of the available literature on the Rorschach inkblot test and neuroimaging research. The 13 selected studies had been conducted with healthy participants and using fMRI, EEG, and fNIRS to investigate the neural underpinnings of Rorschach inkblot test responses. The neural processes underlying the visual, social, and emotional processes described by the included papers are systematically summarized. Research on the neural correlates of the Rorschach inkblot test is promising and would further benefit from studies on clinical populations, broader samples, and younger age groups.

Abstract Background: Alexithymia is the inability to identify and describe one's own emotions. Adolescents who suffer from Restrictive Eating Disorders (REDs) show a higher prevalence of alexithymia than the general population.
Methods: The study explored the correlation between levels of alexithymia in mothers, fathers, and adolescents affected by REDs and patients' ability to recognize their emotions. The study also aimed to evaluate if patients' emotional distress can significantly impact the severity of their disorder and functioning measured by the Clinical Global Impression Scale - Severity (CGI-S) and the Children's Global Assessment Scale (CGAS). We enrolled 67 families of adolescents affected by REDs. Parents and patients' levels of alexithymia were assessed through the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). Spearman's correlation shows a statistically significant correlation between mothers and patients' levels of alexithymia.
Results: Our findings also suggest that fathers and mothers' TAS scores correlate with each other. However, there is no statistically significant relationship between the influence of the TAS scores of fathers and sons/daughters.
Conclusions: In conclusion, mothers' level of alexithymia could influence both fathers and patients' difficulty in identifying and describing their own emotions. This relationship can be investigated further when considering externally oriented thinking. However, the severity of the disease and overall functioning do not appear to be affected by patients' levels of alexithymia.

Abstract Hemp (Cannabis sativa) is a well-known crop with a great potential to produce fibers without being excessively water and nutrient demanding. Moreover, hemp can be considered a viable and sustainable alternative to reach a cleaner production in the garment industry. Accurate information on fiber traits will enhance the exploitation of hemp in textile and biofuel industry. The aim of this work was to investigate the cyto-histological characteristics of hemp primary and secondary fibers through semi-thin sections and a light microscopy approach. To this purpose, we cultivated in open field a dioecious hemp variety under two different sowing densities and two different fertilization regimes. We confirmed the prominent role of sex in influencing all the analyzed traits; moreover, we found the possibility to mitigate it by changing the sowing density and the fertilization regime. In particular, the cell wall thickening in primary fibers was reduced in female plants by high fertilization. In male plants, combining high fertilization and low density, secondary fibers development is deeply increased. Cell area, in both plant sexes, was reduced by high fertilization. Operating on these simple agronomic aspects could thus result in the desired amount of fibers/lignin, depending on the final purpose of hemp cultivation.

Abstract Canine pigmented viral plaques (PVPs) are proliferative epidermal lesions caused by canine papillomaviruses (CPVs). Although the lesions are benign, neoplastic transformation has been reported. Cases reported in the literature are few and mainly focused on genome sequencing. The aim of this study was to collect data on the epidemiology, clinicopathological features, and genotyping of PVPs. Fifty-five canine PVPs were retrospectively retrieved and histologically evaluated. Follow-up was available for 33 cases. The median age was 6.5 years and pugs were the most represented breed (25%). There were 4 clinical presentations: a single lesion (24%), multiple lesions (75%) in one (41%) or different sites (34%), and generalized lesions all over the body (24%). The abdomen and axillae were the most common sites. In single lesions, no recurrence was observed after conventional surgery, whereas different medical treatments reported for multiple lesions were not successful. Spontaneous regression was reported in 3 cases. Neoplasia in contiguity with PVPs was seen in 5 of 55 lesions (9%), and 1 dog was euthanized due to invasive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The most useful histopathological features for diagnosis were scalloped profile, epidermal spikes, hypergranulosis, and hyperpigmentation. L1 immunolabeling was present in 14 of 16 cases (87%). Sequencing revealed that 10 of 16 cases were associated with CPV-9 (71%), 2 cases were associated with CPV-4 (14%), and 2 cases were associated with CPV-8 (14%). In conclusion, this represents a large cohort study on canine PVPs reporting data on clinicopathological features, therapy, outcome, and the type of CPV involved for the first time in Italy.

Abstract The quality of family interactions may be a critical factor for restrictive eating disorders (REDs). Adolescent patients with RED have interpersonal problems that can be inferred by observing their behaviours during family interactions. To date, the assessment of the association among RED severity, interpersonal problems, and patients' interactive behaviours in the family is partially explored. This cross-sectional study aimed to explore how adolescent patients' interactive behaviours observed during the Lausanne Trilogue Play-clinical version (LTPc) were associated with both RED severity and interpersonal problems. Sixty adolescent patients completed the EDI-3 questionnaire to assess RED severity using the Eating Disorder Risk Composite (EDRC) and Interpersonal Problems Composite (IPC) subscales. Moreover, patients and their parents took part in the LTPc, and patients' interactive behaviours were coded as participation, organization, focal attention, and affective contact in all the LTPc four phases. A significant association emerged between patients' interactive behaviours during the LTPc triadic phase and both EDRC and IPC. Better patients' organization and affective contact significantly correlated with lower RED severity and fewer interpersonal problems. These findings suggest that investigating the quality of family relationships and patients' interactive behaviours may contribute to better identifying adolescent patients at risk for more severe conditions.

Abstract Suicide is an important public health issue. To examine the differences in personality characteristics between a group of adolescents with suicidal ideation (SI) and a group with a history of suicidal attempts (SA), we conducted a cross-sectional study. We enrolled 55 adolescents (51 females; 12-18 y.o.) who presented SI and/or SA. Using the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, we divided the sample into two groups: adolescents with SI and adolescents with SA. All participants filled in the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-Adolescent (MMPI-A). Adolescents in the SA group had greater difficulties in social relations, risky behaviors, and more intense suicidal ideation compared to those in the SI group. Adolescents in the SA group scored higher in Omission, in the Lie Scale, the Conduct Problem Scale, the Less Aspirations Scale, the Repression Scale in the MMPI-A, and item 283 of the MAST compared to the other group. The results suggest that using the MMPI-A to assess certain features (e.g., tendency to lie, repression) may be helpful in identifying young people who are at high risk of suicide. However, further research is required to determine the effectiveness of using this instrument.
