Abstract Quinoa is a plant commonly-resistance to adverse biotic and abiotic factors. However, this crop can be affected by phytopathogenic fungi. There is a lack of knowledge about the fungi associated with quinoa plants in Colombia. Through morphological and molecular identification in this study were identified four Fusarium species associated with quinoa crops: Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium graminearum, Fusarium equiseti, and Fusarium culmorum. For this, we collected samples of panicles, leaf tissue, root tissue, and soil for isolation of different isolates of Fusarium. We performed a pathogenicity test of the fungi strains, under greenhouse conditions to evaluate the pathogenicity in seedlings of the Piartal cultivar with two inoculation methods. First inoculating the stem through a nodal wound or second inoculating the abaxial face with a brush. The results indicate the presence of four species with both molecular markers, phylogenetically distributed in these groups. The four species turned out to be pathogenic but with different degrees of virulence with significant differences between F. graminearum and F. oxysporum depending on the inoculation method. This is the first report on the presence of Fusarium species isolated from Quinoa in Colombia.

Abstract Purpose: Patients increasingly consult social media regarding aesthetic surgery. Given the popularity of fat transfer operations, this study assesses the quality and reliability of patient information available on YouTube regarding aesthetic fat grafting.
Methods: The terms "fat grafting" and "fat transfer" were searched on YouTube with respect to the terms "face", "breast", "buttock", and "Brazilian butt lift". Filtered by view count, the top 20 unique, English language, aesthetic surgery-related videos for each search combination were reviewed by three independent reviewers for demographic and descriptive characteristics. Videos were rated for information reliability and quality using the modified DISCERN (MD) tool (1 = low, 5 = high) and global quality scale (GQS) (1 = poor, 5 = excellent).
Results: Out of 80 total videos, 76% were authored by physicians and 24% by laypersons. The overall mean MD score was 1.5 and the mean GQS was 2.6. Videos authored by physicians outscored those by non-medical authors (MD: 1.6 vs. 1.3; GQS 2.7 vs. 2.2). Board-certified plastic surgeon videos (N = 30) scored higher on both the MD (1.7 vs 1.3) and GQS (3.1 vs 2.2) than those of non-medical authors. On the contrary, videos by laypersons and non-plastic surgeons had 40% more views, twice as many "likes" and nearly double as many subscribers.
Conclusion: The overall quality of information presented in aesthetic fat grafting procedures videos on YouTube is low and from unreliable sources. Surgeons should educate patients regarding potentially inaccurate information, and professional societies should disseminate high-quality media.

Abstract Background: Several risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD), including insulin resistance/hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia, overweight/obesity, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, are often present in varying combinations in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Patients with a clustering of these risk factors, termed the metabolic syndrome, are at greater risk for CVD than are patients with only a single risk factor. Although glycemic control is the central feature of type 2 DM management, patients require an individualized approach to therapy that takes their other CVD risk factors into account.
Objective: This review examined the effects of antidiabetes therapy on glycemic control, as well as its potential to affect body weight, serum lipids, and blood pressure (BP), and thus CVD risk.
Methods: Information was obtained by searching the MEDLINE and EMBASE databases from 1995 through March 2010. The search terms included type 2 DM, metabolic syndrome, CV complications of type 2 DM, and therapy for type 2 DM. Articles that described relevant details of the metabolic syndrome, CV complications of type 2 DM, and effects of antidiabetes therapy on glycosylated hemoglobin, body weight, serum lipids, and BP were selected for in-depth review. Only English language publications were reviewed. Clinical trials, meta-analyses, and review articles on the key words were preferentially selected for review and analysis. Non-English language publications, case reports, letters to the editor, and similar types of publications were excluded.
Results: Although all approved antidiabetes agents lowered glucose, their effect on other CV risk factors, such as BP, lipids, and weight, differed significantly. Therapy with insulin, the sulfonylureas, and the thiazolidinediones was associated with weight gain. Metformin and the dipeptidyl-peptidase-4 inhibitors were generally considered weight neutral, whereas the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists and amylin agonists were associated with weight loss. Metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinedioness, and dipeptidyl-peptidase-4 inhibitors had modest effects on serum lipid levels and BP. The glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists generally had beneficial effects on serum lipid levels and systolic and diastolic BP.
Conclusion: A wide variety of agents were available to aid glycemic control in patients with type 2 DM. These agents had variable effects on known CV risk factors that might be present in this patient population, including excess body weight, elevated BP, and increased serum lipids. Some of the newer agents improved glycemic control while also having potentially favorable effects on these CV risk factors. The impact of various agents on known CV risk factors should be considered when selecting a therapeutic regimen.

Abstract Magnetite is the main constituent of iron oxide-apatite (IOA) deposits, which are a globally important source of Fe and other elements such as P and REE, critical for modern technologies. Geochemical studies of magnetite from IOA deposits have provided key insights into the ore-forming processes and source of mineralizing fluids. However, to date, only qualitative estimations have been obtained for one of the key controlling physico-chemical parameters, i.e., the temperature of magnetite formation. Here we reconstruct the thermal evolution of Andean IOA deposits by using magnetite thermometry. Our study comprised a > 3000 point geochemical dataset of magnetite from several IOA deposits within the Early Cretaceous Chilean Iron Belt, as well as from the Pliocene El Laco IOA deposit in the Chilean Altiplano. Thermometry data reveal that the deposits formed under a wide range of temperatures, from purely magmatic (~ 1000 to 800 °C), to late magmatic or magmatic-hydrothermal (~ 800 to 600 °C), to purely hydrothermal (< 600 °C) conditions. Magnetite cooling trends are consistent with genetic models invoking a combined igneous and magmatic-hydrothermal origin that involve Fe-rich fluids sourced from intermediate silicate magmas. The data demonstrate the potential of magnetite thermometry to better constrain the thermal evolution of IOA systems worldwide, and help refine the geological models used to find new resources.
