Abstract Emotion regulation through cognitive reappraisal is well-studied, but less so are the predispositional and superordinate beliefs that influence reappraisal. Recently, researchers developed the cognitive mediation beliefs questionnaire (CMBQ), which measures two emotion beliefs, namely stimulus-response (S-R) generation beliefs and cognitive mediation (C-M) change beliefs. In working populations S-R generation beliefs are inversely related to cognitive reappraisal tendencies and positive mental health, and positively related to emotion reactivity. C-M change beliefs are positively related to cognitive reappraisal tendencies, and inversely related to emotion reactivity and positive mental health. As yet, there is no evidence for the validity of the CMBQ within student samples, or for the associations between its subscales and cognitive reappraisal, emotion reactivity, and positive mental health. Therefore, in the present study the CMBQ is tested for factorial, convergent (associations with cognitive reappraisal), and concurrent (associations with emotion reactivity and positive mental health) validity in a cohort of 621 undergraduate students in the United Kingdom (U.K.). Results indicate support for the factorial and convergent validity of the CMBQ, with mixed evidence for the concurrent validity of the CMBQ. A CM-SR discrepancy score appeared to provide a promising variable when associated with emotion reactivity and positive mental health. The findings are discussed in terms of practical and research implications of the findings.

Abstract Recently, researchers have proposed four superordinate emotion beliefs that supposedly influence emotion regulation and emotion reactivity. Two of these proposed emotion beliefs are captured in the cognitive mediation beliefs questionnaire (CMBQa), namely stimulus-response (S-R) generation beliefs and cognitive mediation (C-M) change beliefs. The remaining two proposed emotion beliefs, C-M generation beliefs and S-R change beliefs, are yet to be operationalised in psychometric form. It is important to validate measurement for all four emotion beliefs in order for them to be used in research and practice. The current paper reports the development and initial validity testing of the CMBQb (studies 1-3), which concerns only C-M generation beliefs and S-R change beliefs, and then tests the four-factor structure of the combined CMBQa (S-R generation, C-M change) and CMBQb (C-M generation, S-R change): the CMBQc (study 4). Some support was found for the four-factor structure of the CMBQc, with factor analyses revealing good fit to the data with a four-factor solution. Also, scores indicating greater C-M generation and change beliefs, and lower S-R generation and change beliefs, were related to more adaptive, and less maladaptive, emotion regulation tendencies. In addition, there was some evidence that greater C-M change beliefs, and lower S-R generation and change belief, were related to better affective and emotion reactivity outcomes. Implications of the CMBQc for research and practice are discussed within the context and emotion regulation science, and cognitive behavioural psychotherapy.

Abstract An effective customer relationship management strategy can deliver a step change in customer engagement, profitability, revenue growth and sustainability. This second edition of the CRM Pocketbook will help managers take a more strategic approach to setting relationship management objectives and implementing practical plans in a multi-channel environment. Consumers are becoming more empowered and turning to channels where they can access their own personal information, have more say in how that information is used, and manage how often they receive marketing materials. Abstract We studied 15 strains of group C (Streptococcus equi subsp. equisimilis) [corrected] isolated from the throats of college students with acute pharyngitis and 5 strains isolated from patients with noninfectious problems. Nineteen of the 20 strains resisted phagocytic killing during incubation in normal human blood, suggesting that they might express M proteins. Genomic DNA from all 20 strains hybridized with a probe corresponding to the carboxyterminal one-third of the group A M-protein gene emm24, a region that is highly conserved among M proteins of group A and group G streptococci. The DNA sequences of the N-terminal (variable) regions of the M-protein-encoding genes from two disease-associated group C isolates and one control isolate were determined. The predicted amino acid sequences of the two pharyngitis strains were identical and were 88% homologous to the amino acid sequence of a group G M-protein gene. The predicted terminal amino acid sequence of the control strain does not correspond to any such sequences in the GenBank database. All three strains studied possess the conserved region domain common to class I group A M-protein types epidemiologically associated with rheumatic fever. These studies demonstrate the presence of M proteins in strains of S. equi subsp. equisimilis [corrected] isolated in cases of endemically occurring acute pharyngitis. Certain of these proteins are similar to those of group G streptococci, while others may represent new M types. The similarity in structure and function between M proteins of nonrheumatogenic serogroups and those of rheumatogenic group A streptococci suggests that factors other than or in addition to M protein per se are likely involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatic fever.

Abstract Objective: The term "scanxiety" has been coined to describe the anxiety commonly associated with individuals undergoing cancer-related imaging. Despite the prevalence and severity of scanxiety across various clinical and demographic populations, there remains a significant lack of qualitative insights from existing studies that effectively capture patients' experiences of scanxiety in their own words. Therefore, this review addresses the following research question: What are the experiences of scanxiety distress among people affected by cancer across the cancer care continuum?
Data sources: Following the PRISMA methodology, a meta-aggregation of qualitative studies was performed, encompassing patients of all age groups who had been diagnosed with cancer or were indicated for a cancer-related scan. Of the 556 articles screened, 15 were deemed eligible for inclusion in the analysis.
Conclusion: The three overarching themes of 1) experience of "scan-itis," 2) experience of "patient-clinician support," and 3) development of self-management strategies reveal the complex and interconnected factors that influence scanxiety in individuals undergoing cancer-related imaging. These findings emphasized distress experienced by patients during the waiting period for scan results, the act of viewing the results, and even the delivery of "bad" news. Consequently, patients expressed a strong desire for increased information, communication, and empathy from attending healthcare providers. Patients also report a myriad of self-coping strategies to manage their scanxiety well before, during, and after their scan appointment.
Implications for nursing practice: The study highlights the need for targeted interventions for those undergoing cancer-related scans, including increased awareness and education for health professionals regarding scanxiety.
