Abstract: ... that maintains the overall structure of the joint capsule: capsule-uncut immaculate (CUI) lateral retinacular ...

Abstract Lateral retinacular release of the patella is the main surgical treatment for excessive lateral pressure syndrome. It was first described by Merchant and Mercer in 1974. The main complications of arthroscopic lateral retinacular release are hemarthrosis and medial patellar instability. The main causes of these complications are the disturbance of the synovial membrane of the joint capsule and excessive release of the lateral retinaculum. In this article, we introduce a method for arthroscopic lateral retinacular release that maintains the overall structure of the joint capsule: capsule-uncut immaculate (CUI) lateral retinacular release.

Abstract To deepen the understanding of CuI that emerges as a promising next-generation transparent display material, we investigate the temperature effect on the electronic structures of its room-temperature phase γ-CuI. Using density-functional-theory-based approaches, we investigate the bandgap renormalization, which is contributed by the electron-phonon (el-ph) interaction and lattice thermal expansion. Different from most semiconductors, the bandgap widens as temperature increases, although it only widens by 88.3 meV from 0 to 600 K. In addition, based on the temperature-dependent band structure and conventional Drude model, we investigate the influences of the effective masses and evaluate the hole mobilities limited by phonon scattering along different directions. The calculated mobilities agree well with existing experimental values. Our study not only provides a fundamental understanding of the temperature effect on the electronic structure of CuI, but also gives insights for further improvement of the electronic and thermoelectric devices based on CuI.

Abstract With vacuum thermal evaporation, the CuI film was deposited on quartz and n-GaN substrates, and the morphology, crystalline structure and optical properties of the CuI films were investigated. According to the XRD results, the CuI film preferentially grew along [111] crystal orientation on the GaN epilayer. With Au and Ni/Au ohmic contact electrodes fabricated on CuI and n-GaN, a prototype p-CuI/n-GaN heterojunction UV photodetector strong UV spectral selectivity was created. Abstract A cuprous iodide (CuI) crystal is considered to be one of the inorganic scintillator materials with the fastest time response, which is expected to play an important role in the field of γ and X rays detection in the future. To improve the detection performance of the CuI scintillator, the effects of element doping on the electronic structure and optical properties of the γ-CuI were investigated by using the first principles calculation method. It was found that Li and Na doping increases the band gap of the γ-CuI scintillator, while Cs, F, Cl, and Br doping decreases the band gap. The optical absorption coefficient of the γ-CuI scintillator is decreased by the Li and Na doping, and the Cs, F, Cl, and Br doping has little effect on the optical absorption coefficient. The effects of the Tl doping on the electronic structure and optical properties of the γ-CuI scintillator depends on its concentration. Based on the changes in the electronic structure and optical properties, we conclude that the Cs, F, Cl, and Br doping might be a good method that can enhance the detection performance of the γ-CuI scintillator.

Abstract The demand for scintillators with ultrafast decay times, high spatial resolutions, and high stabilities is increasing due to the development of ultrafast hard X-ray detection, hard X-ray imaging, and high-energy physics facilities. γ-CuI single crystals, which exhibit ultrafast luminescence and high stopping power for hard X-rays, hold great promise for such applications. However, slow luminescence and poor stability caused by surface iodine deficiencies hinder the practical use of γ-CuI. Herein, we treated a γ-CuI single crystal by iodine annealing and SiO

Abstract Low-cost and eco-friendly CuI hybrid compounds with various structures have recently attracted increasing attention due to their excellent optical properties and promising phosphor applications. However, the poor solubility and solution processability of bulk powders with agglomerated particle limited their practical applications greatly. In this work, we reported the self-assembly formation of CuI hybrid micron phosphors via the aqueous PVP micelle-assisted assembly route. Seven CuI hybrid micron phosphors with the emission from blue 450 nm to red 636 nm have been successfully synthesized. Among them, CuI-pyridine hybrid micron phosphors can be obtained via the reaction of CuI with various pyridines. PVP limits the size growth of the phosphors efficiently and it also plays an important role in controlling the distinct crystal phase formation. Whereas, micron phosphors based on bidentate ligands including 2-propylpyrazine, 5-bromopyrimidine or 4,4'-bipyridine need to be prepared via ligand exchange reaction. The micron phosphors present excellent stability in water and can be dispersed in the aqueous solution of PVP or PVA to form homogenous luminescent composites. The luminescent composites based on PVP are easy to use for fabricating anti-counterfeiting patterns via brush-painting or screen-printing. On the other hand, PVA composites can be applied for preparing free standing monochromatic or multichromatic emitting films as color convertor for display backlight. The PVA composites also exhibit the promising phosphor application for light-emitting diode (LED). Especially, the white LED can be directly realized via optimizing the mixing ratio of blue and orange phosphors.
