    Abstract Polyethylene (PE), a non-biodegradable plastic, is widely used in agriculture as a mulch material, which causes serious plastic pollution when it is discarded. Recent studies have described the biodeterioration of PE by bacteria, but it is difficult for a single bacterial species to effectively degrade PE plastic. We isolated two strains with PE-degrading ability, Bacillus cereus (E1) and Rhodococcus equi (E3), from the soil attached to plastic waste on the south side of Mount Tai, China, using a medium with PE plastic as the only carbon source. By clear zone area analysis, we found that E1 mixed with E3 could improve the degradation of PE plastics. The mixture of E1 and E3 was incubated for 110 days in a medium containing PE and mulch film as the only carbon source, respectively. After 110 days, a decrease in pH and mass was observed. Obvious slits and depressions were observed on the surface of the PE film and the mulch films using scanning electron microscopy. The surface hydrophobicity of both films decreased, and FTIR revealed the formation of new oxidation groups on their surfaces during the degradation process and the destruction of the original CH

    Abstract Background: In recent years, the issue of suicide caused by the stress of a contradictory relationship between graduate students and academic supervisors has aroused heated discussion in society. Based on the interpersonal psychological theory of suicide, this study aims to examine the influence of the perceived abusive supervision on graduate students' suicidal ideation and the parallel mediating roles of thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness.
    Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional online survey measuring perceived abusive supervision, interpersonal psychological needs and suicidal ideation among 232 Chinese graduate students. A structural equation model was constructed to test the hypothesis.
    Results: The results showed that abusive supervision directly exacerbated suicidal ideation (β = 0.160, 95% CI = [0.038, 0.281], p = 0.009) and indirectly influenced suicidal ideation through thwarted belongingness (β = 0.059, 95% CI = [0.008, 0.110], p = 0.019) and perceived burdensomeness (β = 0.102, 95% CI = [0.013, 0.191], p = 0.018). The indirect effect accounted for 50.15% of the overall effect.
    Conclusions: These findings enrich our understanding of the influence of supervisor-student relationship by integrating the literatures on educational and organizational behaviour, and provide practical insights for psychosocial interventions from the perspective of the interpersonal psychological theory of suicide.

    Abstract Introduction: The study aimed to investigate the impact and mechanism of negative life events on college students' suicidal ideation during the COVID-19 pandemic and the buffering effect of hope under the background of normalization of pandemic.
    Methods: A total of 5211 participants took part in this study. Self-reported negative life events, rumination, hope and suicide ideation were measured using a range of questions and scales. Our research demonstrated that the incidence of suicidal ideation among college freshmen in the past week was higher during the COVID-19 pandemic than that before the pandemic. In this study, conditional process model 15 was used to verify the hypothetical model of rumination as a potential mediator and hope as a moderator.
    Results: The hypothesized moderated mediation model was verified significant (
    Discussion: We found that rumination partially mediated the effect of negative life events on suicidal ideation, and hope buffered the direct and indirect effect of negative life events on suicidal ideation. The implications of the findings for clinical interventions are discussed, including the importance of hope arousal as a protective factor and rumination as a cognitive mechanism for emotion regulation under the background of normalization of pandemic.

    Abstract Objective: Lung ultrasound (LUS) has become an essential clinical tool for pulmonary evaluation. LUS has been found to induce pulmonary capillary hemorrhage (PCH) in animal models, posing a safety issue. The induction of PCH was investigated in rats, and exposimetry parameters were compared with those of a previous neonatal swine study.
    Methods: Female rats were anesthetized and scanned in a warmed water bath with the 3Sc, C1-5 and L4-12t probes from a GE Venue R1 point-of-care ultrasound machine. Acoustic outputs (AOs) of sham, 10%, 25%, 50% or 100% were applied for 5-min exposures with the scan plane aligned with an intercostal space.     Abstract Plasmonic nanovesicles show broad applications in areas such as cancer theranostics and drug delivery, but the preparation of nanovesicles from shaped nanoparticles remains challenging. This article describes the vesicular self-assembly of shaped nanoparticles, such as gold nanocubes grafted with amphiphilic block copolymers, in selective solvents. The nanocubes assembled within the vesicular membranes exhibit two distinctive packing modes, namely square-like and hexagonal packing, depending on the relative dimensions of the copolymer ligands and nanocubes. The corresponding optical properties of the plasmonic nanovesicles can be tuned by varying the length of the grafted copolymers and the size of the nanocubes. This work provides guidance for the fabrication of functional plasmonic vesicles for applications in catalysis, nanomedicines and optical devices.
