    Methods: We analyzed 60 patients with DLBCL who received rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone (R-CHOP) treatment and underwent baseline, interim, and final FDG PET/CT scans. The FDG uptakes of lymphoma lesions, MBP, liver, and myocardium were assessed, and changes in the MBP and liver SUV and possible associated factors were evaluated.
    Results: The SUV of the liver did not change significantly during the chemotherapy. However, the SUV
    Conclusions: The SUV of the liver was not significantly changed during R-CHOP chemotherapy in patients with DLBCL, whereas the MBP SUV of the interim scan decreased slightly. However, the SUV of the reference organs may be affected by tumor burden, and this should be considered when assessing follow-up scans. Although myocardial FDG uptake was more frequently observed after R-CHOP chemotherapy, it did not affect the SUV of the MBP and liver.

    Abstract Introduction: Nymphaea rubra belongs to the Nymphaea family and is regarded as a vegetable used in traditional medicine to cure several ailments. These species are rich in phenolic acid, flavonoids, and hydrolysable tannin.
    Objective: This study aimed to assess the biological activities of Nymphaea rubra flowers (NRF) and leaves (NRL) by identifying and quantifying their polyphenolic compounds using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole cyclic ion mobility time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-cIM-TOF-MS) and triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-TQ-MS).
    Methodology: NRF and NRL powder was extracted with methanol and fractionated using hexane, ethylacetate, and water. Antioxidant and α-glucosidase, and tyrosinase enzyme inhibitory activities were evaluated. The polyphenolic components of NRF and NRL were identified and quantified using UHPLC-Q-cIM-TOF-MS and UHPLC-TQ-MS. The method was validated using linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection (LOD), and lower limit of quantification (LLOQ).
    Results: Bioactive substances and antioxidants were highest in the ethylacetate fraction of flowers and leaves. Principal component analysis showed how solvent and plant components affect N. rubra's bioactivity and bioactive compound extraction.     Conclusion: The developed method is simple, rapid, and selective for the identification and quantification of bioactive molecules. These findings provide a scientific basis for N. rubra's well-documented biological effects.

    Abstract Progesterone (P4) is a crucial reproductive hormone that acts as a precursor for all other endogenous steroids. P4 modulates transcriptional activity during reproduction by binding to progesterone receptors (PR). However, the physiological role of P4 in the liver is understudied. P4-mediated lipid metabolism in the liver was investigated in this study, as P4 facilitates insulin resistance and influences energy metabolism. While exogenous lipids are mainly obtained from food, the liver synthesizes endogenous triglycerides and cholesterol from a carbohydrate diet. Hepatic de novo lipogenesis (DNL) is primarily determined by acetyl-CoA and its biosynthetic pathways, which involve fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis. While P4 increased the hepatic levels of sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 C (SREBP-1 C), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARγ), acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), and CD36, co-treatment with the P4 receptor antagonist RU486 blocked these proteins and P4-mediated lipogenesis. RNA sequencing was used to assess the role of P4 in lipogenic events, such as fatty liver and fatty acid metabolism, lipoprotein signaling, and cholesterol metabolism. P4 induced hepatic DNL and lipid anabolism were confirmed in the liver of ovarian resection mice fed a high-fat diet or in pregnant mice. P4 increased lipogenesis directly in mice exposed to P4 and indirectly in fetuses exposed to maternal P4. The lipid balance between lipogenesis and lipolysis determines fat build-up and is linked to lipid metabolism dysfunction, which involves the breakdown and storage of fats for energy and the synthesis of structural and functional lipids. Therefore, P4 may impact the lipid metabolism and reproductive development during gestation.

    Abstract Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is considered a super-supplement that prevents obesity and diabetes. While NR has been investigated for various effects depending on nutritional conditions, metabolic research on women and pregnant women has rarely been discussed. In this study, we focused on the glycemic control of NR in females and found the protective role of NR in pregnant animals under hypoglycemic conditions. Metabolic-tolerance tests were performed in vivo under progesterone (P4) exposure after ovariectomy (OVX). NR enhanced resistance to energy deprivation and showed a slight increase in gluconeogenesis in naïve control mice. However, NR reduced hyperglycemia and significantly induced gluconeogenesis in OVX mice. While NR reduced hyperglycemia in the P4-treated OVX mice, it reduced insulin response and substantially increased gluconeogenesis. Similar to animal experiments, NR increased gluconeogenesis and mitochondrial respiration in Hep3B cells. The gluconeogenic function of NR is mediated by tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA) cycle enrichment, as residual pyruvate could induce gluconeogenesis. NR recovered fetal growth by increasing blood glucose levels when hypoglycemia was induced by diet-restriction during pregnancy. Our study revealed the glucose-metabolic function of NR in hypoglycemic pregnant animals, suggesting NR as a dietary supplement to improve fetal growth. Because diabetic women suffer from hypoglycemia due to insulin therapy, NR has therapeutic potential for use as a glycemic control pill.

    Abstract South American tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is native to South America, but is a major invasive and quarantine pest species in Europe, Africa, and Asia. It causes extensive damage of up to 100% yield loss in tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) in open and greenhouse conditions. Since its first invasion in Spain in 2006, it has spread rapidly into many countries in the Mediterranean and Western Europe and further invaded Africa and Asia. In Asia, it was first recorded in August 2009 in Turkey and spread to most South and East Asian countries. In this study, we reviewed existing work on the biology and distribution of T. absoluta in Asia, as well as the damage it causes. This review will help to develop efficient management tactics as well as establish quarantine and phytosanitary precautions in uninvaded countries.

    Abstract Food products contain various active ingredients, such as flavors, nutrients, unsaturated fatty acids, color, probiotics, etc., that require protection during food processing and storage to preserve their quality and shelf life. This review provides an overview of standard microencapsulation technologies, processes, materials, industrial examples, reasons for market success, a summary of recent applications, and the challenges in the food industry, categorized by active food ingredients: flavors, polyunsaturated fatty acids, probiotics, antioxidants, colors, vitamins, and others. We also provide a comprehensive analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the most common microencapsulation technologies in the food industry such as spray drying, coacervation, extrusion, and spray cooling. This review ends with future perspectives on microencapsulation for food applications.
