Abstract Introduction: Although people spend most of the day in their home environment, the focus of research in environmental psychology to date has been on factors outside the home. However, it stands to reason that indoor quality likewise has an impact on psychological well-being. Therefore, the present study addresses the question of whether the subjective evaluation of home environmental parameters are related to self-reported anxiety and whether they can additionally explain variance beyond the usual sociodemographic and general lifestyle variables.
Methods: Data from the Hamburg City Health Study (first 10,000 participants) was analyzed. A subsample of
Results: Using the integrated model, we were able to explain about 13% of the variance in self-reported anxiety scores. This included both the demographic, lifestyle, and subjective evaluation of home environment variables. Protection from disturbing night lights, a greater sense of security, less disturbing noises, brighter accommodations, and a satisfactory window view explained almost 6% of the variance and was significantly associated with lower anxiety scores.
Conclusion: The home as a place of refuge plays an increasingly important role as home office hours rise. It is therefore crucial to identify domestic factors contributing to people's mental well-being. The subjective evaluation of one's home environment has proven influential over and above modifiable lifestyle variables.

Abstract Background: Brodalumab, a fully human monoclonal immunoglobulin IgG2 antibody that binds the human interleukin 17 receptor subunit A, is available for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in Europe since September 2017, but so far there are only a few studies on its use in real-world conditions.
Objectives: To assess the management of moderate-to-severe psoriasis with brodalumab 210 mg in daily practice after 12 and 52 weeks (W). In addition, patient profiles and treatment pathways are described.
Methods: LIBERO is a prospective, multicenter, non-interventional study including adult patients with plaque psoriasis treated with brodalumab 210 mg.
Results: In total, 638 patients (65% male, mean age: 49.3 ± 14.4 years) from 148 sites in Germany were enrolled. The majority suffered from severe (51.1%) or very severe (13.1%) psoriasis according to physician global assessment (PGA0-5). When starting with brodalumab, 58.5% were biologic naïve and 41.5% were previously treated with another biologic, mainly adalimumab (18.5%) and secukinumab (17.9%). About 74.0% of patients met the primary endpoint of an absolute PASI ≤3 at ~W12 (n = 618, LOCF). The mean PASI was reduced significantly as of ~W2 from 17.2 (±11.7) to 9.7 (±8.8) and improved further to 3.3 (±6.3) at ~W12 (p < 0.001). At ~W52 85.5% of patients reached a PGA0/1-response (primary endpoint) and 54.1% patients were assessed as completely clear (PGA0) (both n = 399, as observed). Effectiveness of brodalumab was confirmed in relevant subgroup analysis by previous treatment regimen. Most frequently reported adverse events were nasopharyngitis (4.6%), psoriasis (4.6%) and arthralgia (4.1%), new safety signals were not detected.
Conclusion: This representative, non-interventional study confirms the short- and long-term effectiveness and safety profile of brodalumab in the management of psoriasis in daily practice as well as in relevant treatment pathways.

Abstract Low vitamin D levels are common in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and have been associated with various adverse COPD-related outcomes. Recent data on vitamin D status in representative COPD cohorts in Scandinavia is lacking. This study aimed to assess vitamin D status and determinants of vitamin D insufficiency in patients with COPD who were attending a specialist secondary care COPD clinic in Southwestern Sweden. All patients who visited the COPD clinic for their first medical visit during two periods, 2017−2018 and 2021, were included in this observational study. Measurements of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), clinical data and documentation of supplements containing vitamin D were collected retrospectively from patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to identify determinants of the primary outcome, vitamin D insufficiency (25(OH)D < 50 nmol/L). A total of 667 patients were included, and 33% had vitamin D insufficiency. The median 25(OH)D was 62 nmol/L (43.5−83.1 nmol/L). Vitamin D insufficiency was related to the male gender, current smoking habits, a lack of supplements containing vitamin D and the winter season for blood sampling. In conclusion, vitamin D insufficiency is common in patients with COPD. Men had significantly lower levels of vitamin D but took vitamin D-containing supplements less frequently compared to women. Our findings can help clinicians to identify patients who are at risk of vitamin D insufficiency and allow correction with supplementation where appropriate.

Abstract Angiogenesis is a prerequisite for tumor growth and metastatic progression. The discovery of the first specific angiogenic cytokine, VEGF, in 1989 paved the way for the clinical approval of the first antiangiogenic tumor drug 15 years later. This brief commentary highlights and puts into historical perspective the 1985 G.H.A. Clowes Memorial Award Lecture delivered by Dr. Judah Folkman. Thirty years later, this award lecture is a lively testimony of the visionary mind of Dr. Folkman, whose legacy continues to inspire contemporary angiogenesis research. Abstract The Wsc1, Wsc2, and Wsc3 proteins are essential cell surface sensors that respond to cell wall perturbation by activating the cell wall integrity pathway (CWIP). We show here that in situ production of cholesterol (in place of ergosterol) induces hyper-phosphorylation of Slt2, the MAPK of the CWIP, and upregulates cell wall biosynthesis. Deletion of all three Wsc genes in K. phaffii reverts these phenotypes. In the cholesterol-producing strain, both Wsc1 and Wsc3 accumulate in the plasma membrane. Close inspection of the transmembrane domains of all three Wsc proteins predicted by AlphaFold2 revealed the presence of CRAC sterol-binding motifs. Experiments using a photoreactive cholesterol derivative indicate intimate interaction of this sterol with the Wsc transmembrane domain, and this apparent sterol binding was abrogated in Wsc mutants with substitutions in the CRAC motif. We also observed cholesterol interaction with CRAC-like motifs in the transmembrane domains of mammalian integrins, analogs of Wsc proteins. Our results suggest that proper signaling of the Wsc sensors requires highly specific binding of the native endogenous terminal sterol, ergosterol.

Abstract Spaces with locally varying scale of measurement, like multidimensional structures with differently scaled dimensions, are pretty common in statistics and machine learning. Nevertheless, it is still understood as an open question how to exploit the entire information encoded in them properly. We address this problem by considering an order based on (sets of) expectations of random variables mapping into such non-standard spaces. This order contains stochastic dominance and expectation order as extreme cases when no, or respectively perfect, cardinal structure is given. We derive a (regularized) statistical test for our proposed generalized stochastic dominance (GSD) order, operationalize it by linear optimization, and robustify it by imprecise probability models. Our findings are illustrated with data from multidimensional poverty measurement, finance, and medicine.

Title translation Dermatological video consultations for German prisons : Experiences from teledermatological consultations 2020 to 2022.
Abstract Background: With increasing shortage of medical personnel also in the medical care in German correctional facilities, telemedicine has been used since 2016, initially in projects and then for regular medical care. Since 2019, there is the possibility of dermatological expertise in regular video consultations.
Objective: The benefits of an interdisciplinary online consultation with video and store and forward technology for dermatological issues are highlighted in terms of efficiency and feasibility.
Material and methods: A descriptive analysis of 450 dermatological video consultations for German correctional facilities from February 2020 to July 2022 was carried out with respect to procedures, indications and demand.
Results: Requests were made via a standardised form with optional photographs, which were sent via a secure cloud to the dermatology department in store and forward mode. The majority of cases could be presented live in a regular weekly video consultation and only single cases required an acute presentation within 24 h. The spectrum of skin diseases was comparable to cases presenting to a dermatology outpatient clinic. The interdisciplinary consultation management together with colleagues from general medicine enabled the transfer of the cases to the medical personnel at the correctional facility on site for follow-up and further medical procedures. Treatment could be started in all cases without delay.
Conclusion: Teledermatology represents an important contribution to medical care in German correctional facilities and the interdisciplinary cooperation saves time and resources in the presentation and treatment of skin diseases.
