Abstract Spinocerebellar ataxias, also called autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxias, are a group of neurological genetic diseases characterised by chronic, progressive cerebellar ataxia. The clinical hallmark of spinocerebellar ataxia is the loss of balance and coordination, accompanied by slurred speech. Spinocerebellar ataxia type 11 is a rare subtype of spinocerebellar ataxia caused by mutations in the tau tubulin kinase 2 gene. Patients with spinocerebellar ataxia are clinically characterised by slowly progressive cerebellar ataxia, trunk and limb ataxia, and eye movement abnormalities with occasional pyramidal features. Peripheral neuropathy and dystonia are rare. According to the literature, only nine families affected with spinocerebellar ataxia have been reported worldwide. Herein, a series of spinocerebellar ataxia cases are discussed in detail to determine the potential research direction of this dysfunction, including its epidemiology, clinical features, genetic characteristics, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, pathogenic mechanisms, treatment, prognosis, follow-up, genetic counselling and future perspectives, and to improve the overall understanding of spinocerebellar ataxia among clinicians, researchers and patients.

Abstract The immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccines in patients with liver cirrhosis remains largely unknown. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to investigate the immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccines in patients with cirrhosis and compare the humoral and cellular immune responses following complete COVID-19 vaccination between cirrhosis patients and healthy controls. A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science from 1 January 2020 to 22 August 2023. Sixteen studies with 2127 cirrhosis patients were included. The pooled seroconversion rate in patients with cirrhosis following complete COVID-19 vaccination was 92.4% (95% CI, 86.2%-96%,

Abstract Purpose: To analyze the effect of orthodontic treatment combined with bone level implant in repairing dentition defect.
Methods: The data of 88 patients with single dental implant in mandibular posterior region who were treated for dentition defect from January 2020 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, including 44 patients with bone level implant repair(control group) and 44 patients with orthodontic treatment combined bone level implant repair (experimental group). The success rate of implant implantation, periodontal health status, masticatory function, implant stability, postoperative complications and implant satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 18.0 software package.
Results: There was no significant difference in the success rate of implant implantation at 3 months and 6 months between the two groups(P>0.05). The success rate of implant implantation at 12 months in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The gingival sulci bleeding index (SBI) and probing depth (PD) of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group at 12 months after implantation (P<0.05), and there was no significant different in bone absorption between the two groups at 12 months after implantation(P>0.05). The EMG activities of masseter muscle and temporal muscle in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.05), and those of masseter muscle and temporal muscle in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The implant stability coefficient values of 6 months and 12 months in 2 groups were significantly higher than those of 3 months (P<0.05), the implant stability coefficient values of 12 months in 2 groups were significantly higher than those of 6 months and 12 months in 2 groups (P<0.05), and the implant stability coefficient values of 6 months and 12 months in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the total complication rate between the two groups (P>0.05). The implant satisfaction of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusions: Orthodontic treatment combined with bone level implants can improve the success rate of implantation and masticatory efficiency, enhance the periodontal health of implants, and increase the patients' satisfaction with implants.

  7. Article: Development and Validation of a Nomogram Model for Individualizing the Risk of Osteopenia in Abdominal Obesity.

Abstract Objective: This study was aimed to create and validate a risk prediction model for the incidence of osteopenia in individuals with abdominal obesity.
Methods: Survey data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database for the years 2013-2014 and 2017-2018 was selected and included those with waist circumferences ≥102 m in men and ≥88 cm in women, which were defined as abdominal obesity. A multifactor logistic regression model was constructed using LASSO regression analysis to identify the best predictor variables, followed by the creation of a nomogram model. The model was then verified and evaluated using the consistency index (C-index), area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results Screening based on LASSO regression analysis revealed that sex, age, race, body mass index (BMI), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and Triglycerides (TG) were significant predictors of osteopenia development in individuals with abdominal obesity (P < 0.05). These six variables were included in the nomogram. In the training and validation sets, the C indices were 0.714 (95 % CI: 0.689-0.738) and 0.701 (95 % CI: 0.662-0.739), respectively, with corresponding AUCs of 0.714 and 0.701. The nomogram model exhibited good consistency with actual observations, as demonstrated by the calibration curve. The DCA nomogram showed that early intervention for at-risk populations has a net positive impact.
Conclusion: Sex, age, race, BMI, ALP and TG are predictive factors for osteopenia in individuals with abdominal obesity. The constructed nomogram model can be utilized to predict the clinical risk of osteopenia in the population with abdominal obesity.

Abstract Background: Lung cancer is a malignant tumor that seriously threatens the health of human beings. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are thought to play important roles in the pathophysiology of lung cancer. In this study, we identified a new lncRNA, MAGI2-AS3 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissues by conducting an integrated bioinformatics analysis. Mechanistic studies were also performed to explore the biological functions of MAGI2-AS3 in NSCLC progression.
Methods: A bioinformatics analysis was conducted to determine the prognostic role of MAGI2-AS3. CCK-8, EdU assay, colony formation and Transwell were performed to determine the effects of MAGI2-AS3 on the progression of NSCLC cells. A nude mice model was used to evaluate the effects of MAGI2-AS2 on the
Results: MAGI2-AS3 was found to be downregulated in NSCLC tissues. The gain-of-function
Conclusions: The study revealed that MAGI2-AS3 was downregulated in NSCLC tissues and cells, and MAGI2-AS3 suppressed NSCLC cell progression. Further, the mechanistic results showed that MAGI2-AS3 exerted a tumor-suppressive effect in NSCLC by targeting the miR-629-5p/TXNIP axis.
