Abstract Objective: Chronic scrotal hyperthermia (SHT) can lead to serious disorders of the male reproductive system, with oxidative stress playing a key role in the onset of these dysfunctions. Thus, we evaluated the impact of caffeine, a potent antioxidant, on cellular and tissue disorders in mice with chronic SHT.
Methods: In this experimental study, 56 adult male NMRI mice were allocated into seven equal groups. Apart from the non-treated control group, all were exposed to heat stress. Two groups, termed "preventive" and "curative," were orally administered caffeine. The preventive mice began receiving caffeine immediately prior to heat exposure, while for the curative group, a caffeine regimen was initiated 15 consecutive days following cessation of heat exposure. Each treated group was subdivided based on pairing with a positive control (Pre/curative [Cur]+PC) or a vehicle (Pre/Cur+vehicle). Upon conclusion of the study, we assessed sperm characteristics, testosterone levels, stereological parameters, apoptosis, antioxidant and oxidant levels, and molecular markers.
Results: Sperm parameters, testosterone levels, stereological parameters, biochemical factors (excluding malondialdehyde [MDA]), and c-kit gene expression were significantly elevated in the preventive and curative groups, especially the former, relative to the other groups. Conversely, expression levels of the heat shock protein 72 (HSP72) and nuclear factor kappa beta (NF-κβ) genes, MDA levels, and apoptotic cell density were markedly lower in both caffeine-treated groups relative to the other groups, with more pronounced differences observed in the preventive group.
Conclusion: Overall, caffeine attenuated cellular and molecular abnormalities induced by heat stress in the testis, particularly in the mice treated under the preventive condition.

Abstract Removing a fiber post from a root canal that requires endodontic retreatment is often very challenging. Conventional freehand techniques for removing fiber posts are time-consuming, sometimes result in iatrogenic errors, and heavily rely on the practitioner's experience. The endodontic static guide can be an alternative method. While the use of an endodontic 3D-printed static guide for fiber post removal has been reported as highly successful, it can also cause complications. Skipping any critical steps during the guide construction or its clinical application can lead to errors. This case report presents the saving of a compromised tooth with a fractured fiber post and a periapical lesion around the apex through the use of an endodontic static guide for fiber post removal. This study describes possible sources of error that may happen during construction and clinical use of the guide.

Abstract Background: Statins play a vital role in the management of high-risk patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two doses of 40 and 80 mg of atorvastatin on lipid profiles and inflammatory markers among patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Materials and methods: This single-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted on 60 patients with ACS referred to Heshmatiyeh Hospital, Sabzevar, Iran. Eligible subjects were randomly assigned to either 80 mg/day (atorvastatin, 80 mg/day) or 40 mg/day intervention (atorvastatin, 40 mg/day) groups. Serum lipid profiles (low-density lipoprotein [LDL], high-density lipoprotein [HDL], triglyceride [TG], and total cholesterol), an inflammatory marker (creatine phosphokinase [CPK]), and liver function biomarkers (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase) were assessed before starting treatment and 3 months later.
    Results: According to the paired
Conclusion: Findings suggest that increasing the dose of atorvastatin decreases the mean serum levels of LDL and CPK but has no effect on the mean serum HDL levels and liver function biomarkers.

Abstract Background: Family caregivers of cancer patients must have strong emotional intelligence skills essential for understanding one's and others' feelings and learning how to cope.
Objectives: The present study aims to determine the predictive factors of emotional intelligence and its relationship with spiritual intelligence, coping, and knowledge and experience about pain among family caregivers of cancer patients in Iran.
Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted in 2020-2021. Two hundred twenty-six family caregivers of cancer patients participated in this study. The data collection tools were Wong and Law's emotional intelligence, King's spiritual intelligence, Brief Cope, and the family pain questionnaire. Following determining the variables' correlation, linear regression was carried out.
    Results: Emotional intelligence had a significant correlation with age (r = 0.20, p = .003), academic degree (r = 0.15, p = .032), duration of care (r = 0.15, p = .032), and spiritual intelligence (r = 0.30, p < .001). The regression model accounted for 12.4% of the variance in emotional intelligence; age (β = 0.16, p < .021) and spiritual intelligence (β = 0.26, p < .001) were significant explanatory variables.
Conclusions: Emotional intelligence is correlated with age, academic degree, duration of care, and spiritual intelligence, but only age and spiritual intelligence were found to be predictive factors for emotional intelligence in the family caregivers of cancer patients.

Abstract The mist bioreactor has been proved to have a higher performance relative to the liquid phase reactor. The water and conventional media (MS, ½MS, and B5) were tested in a mist bioreactor to evaluate the performance of the misting system. The physicochemical properties of liquids were measured at 0 (Fresh state) and when treated by ultrasonic system for 1 and 2 h. At a given airflow rate, the misting rate for different heights of various media was determined. The results demonstrated that the electrical conductivity of all media increased with the duration of sonication. The ultrasonic effect caused an increase in surface tension of MS and ½MS, while the pH of MS and ½MS reduced with ultrasonic treatment. The inverse trends were observed for water and B5 for these properties. The misting rate increased by increasing liquid height to a maximum value, then decreased to a minimum value at the highest height. For all liquids studied in this experiment, this maximum value of misting performed at height ranged between 3 and 4 cm. The maximum and minimum values of the ultrasonic misting rate belonged to MS ([Formula: see text]) at height 3 cm and B5 ([Formula: see text]) at height 1 cm, respectively.
