Abstract Measurements of the production of forward pi0 mesons from p + p and d + Au collisions at square root sNN=200 GeV are reported. The p + p yield generally agrees with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The d + Au yield per binary collision is suppressed as eta increases, decreasing to approximately 30% of the p + p yield at eta =4.00, well below shadowing expectations. Exploratory measurements of azimuthal correlations of the forward pi0 with charged hadrons at eta approximately 0 show a recoil peak in p + p that is suppressed in d + Au at low pion energy. These observations are qualitatively consistent with a saturation picture of the low-x gluon structure of heavy nuclei.

Abstract Pheochromocytoma (PCC) is a rare neuroendocrine catecholamine-secreting tumour of the adrenal gland. It originates from the chromaffin cells found within the adrenal medulla or the extra-adrenal paraganglia. We present a case report of a 24-year-old female who presented with hypertension, headache, palpitations, chest pain and blurry vision. On ultrasound evaluation, a right suprarenal mass was noted, which was further evaluated using contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT). Based on our imaging findings, the patient was diagnosed with a case of right-sided pheochromocytoma. The patient was operated on, and our diagnosis was confirmed with histopathological examination.

Abstract Background and aim: Celiac disease (CeD) is mainly reported from the northern and western parts of India. In central India, it is believed to be a disease of children, with limited data among adults diagnosed for the first time after the age of 18 years. Hence, we aimed to describe CeD's clinical and demographic features among adults and children/adolescents in central India.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database of all patients diagnosed for CeD from 2010 to 2019. The disease in adults was confirmed when symptoms developed for the first time after 18 years and had positive anti-transglutaminase antibodies with villous atrophy on duodenal biopsy. It was compared with pediatric patients with CeD diagnosed during the same time period.
Results: Of the 170 patients diagnosed with CeD, 118 were adults and 52 were children or adolescents. The mean age of presentation of adult CeD was 37.3 ± 11.93 years, while in the pediatric and adolescent group it was 9.19 ± 5.4 years. Classical presentation with chronic, painless, small-bowel-type diarrhea was seen in 44.1% of adults compared to 57.7% in the pediatric age group. Among the adult patients, 55.9% presented with nonclassical symptoms, which included abdominal pain (40.7%) and weight loss (36.4%). The common presenting symptom in children other than diarrhea was weight loss (50%) and abdominal pain (34.6%).
Conclusion: CeD is common in central India, with an increasing number of patients being diagnosed for the first time after 18 years of age and presenting more often with nonclassical symptoms.

Abstract For more effective chemotherapy and targeted treatment of colorectal cancer, this study seeks to develop chitosan (CH)-human serum albumin (HAS)-D-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 (TPGS) nanoparticles (BOS-CH-HSA-TPGS-NPs) coated with Bosutinib (BOS). Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) indicated that chitosan's structure was modified by carbodiimide coupling with HSA. We used a Box-Behnken design to find the ideal region for particle size, zeta potential, and entrapment efficiency, eventually emerging at a formulation with these values: 187.14 ± 3.2 nm, 76.2 ± 0.96 %, and 21.1 ± 2.3 mV. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were all used to characterize the sample in detail. At a phosphate buffer pH of 7.4, in vitro drug release tests showed both Higuchi model release (0.954) and Fickian diffusion (n = 0.5). Compared to free BOS, HCT116 cell lines showed considerably higher cytotoxicity in in vitro cytotoxicity assays. In male albino Wistar rats, the BOS-CH-HSA-TPGS-NPs also showed enhanced pharmacokinetics, targeting efficiency, and biocompatibility. When used to the treatment of colorectal cancer, the BOS-CH-HSA-TPGS NPs show promise as a sustained-release therapy with improved therapeutic effects by addressing the challenges of poor solubility, poor permeability, and toxic side effects.

Abstract Chondrosarcoma is a rare form of carcinoma that originates in the cells of cartilage, the flexible tissue that cushions the joints and gives structure to various parts of the body. This malignant tumour primarily affects adults and is most commonly found in the bones of the arms, legs, pelvis, and ribs. The severity and prognosis of chondrosarcoma can vary widely depending on factors such as tumour size, location, and grade. We are reporting a case of an 83-year-old male patient who presented with swelling over the left hip joint. A mass was detected on radiograph and ultrasound that was further characterized using contrast-enhanced CT and MRI. Imaging findings suggested chondrosarcoma. The patient was diagnosed on histopathological examination.

Abstract Background: Crohn's disease, a chronic gastrointestinal inflammatory condition, can involve gynecological structures. Rectovaginal or rectovestibular involvement may be the first sign in the pediatric population and may result in delayed diagnosis and treatment.
Case: A 9-year-old premenarchal female with chronic constipation and poor growth presented to the pediatric gynecologist for evaluation of persistent vulvovaginal discharge and vulvar irritation. Examination under anesthesia revealed a rectolabial fistula; colonoscopy was diagnostic of Crohn's disease. Immunotherapy resulted in improvement of symptoms and anatomical changes.
Summary and conclusion: In cases of persistent vulvar complaints in a child without clear diagnosis, a high index of suspicion for a non-gynecologic diagnosis is necessary. Collaboration between pediatric gynecologists, gastroenterologists, and surgeons can result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of genital Crohn's disease.

Abstract Effective treatment of breast cancer relies heavily on early detection. Routine annual mammography is a widely accepted screening technique that has resulted in significantly improving the survival rate. However, it suffers from low sensitivity resulting in high false positives from screening. To overcome this problem, adjunctive technologies such as ultrasound are employed on about 10% of women recalled for additional screening following mammography. These adjunctive techniques still result in a significant number of women, about 1.6%, who undergo biopsy while only 0.4% of women screened have cancers. The main reason for missing cancers during mammography screening arises from the masking effect of dense breast tissue. The presence of a tumor results in the alteration of temperature field in the breast, which is not influenced by the tissue density. In the present paper, the IRI-Numerical Engine is presented as an adjunct for detecting cancer from the surface temperature data. It uses a computerized inverse heat transfer approach based on Pennes's bioheat transfer equations. Validation of this enhanced algorithm is conducted on twenty-three biopsy-proven breast cancer patients after obtaining informed consent under IRB protocol. The algorithm correctly predicted the size and location of cancerous tumors in twenty-four breasts, while twenty-two contralateral breasts were also correctly predicted to have no cancer (one woman had bilateral breast cancer). The tumors are seen as highly perfused and metabolically active heat sources that alter the surface temperatures that are used in heat transfer modeling. Furthermore, the results from this study with twenty-four biopsy-proven cancer cases indicate that the detection of breast cancer is not affected by breast density. This study indicates the potential of the IRI-Numerical Engine as an effective adjunct to mammography. A large scale clinical study in a statistically significant sample size is needed before integrating this approach in the current protocol.
