Abstract: ... and bully-victim) and know profiles of bullying among students of rural schools of Anand, Gujarat ...

Abstract Background: Bullying can have short- and long-term implications on physical as well as mental health. The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of bullying involvement (bully, victim, and bully-victim) and know profiles of bullying among students of rural schools of Anand, Gujarat, in Western India.
Materials and methodology: A questionnaire in the Gujarati language was administered to sixth to tenth graders of 12 rural schools (
Results: Prevalence of bullying involvement was 70% (
Conclusions: There is a high prevalence of bullying-related involvement compared with earlier studies and a complete lack of bullying prevention policies at the school level. A simple screening strategy, using a few questions to identify bullying-related involvement, is valid and useful. Guidelines need to be devised to standardize future bullying-related research in India.

Abstract Context: The nature of the work in saw mills carries a huge risk as the workers are exposed to various life-threatening hazards.
Aims: This study was conducted to know the "Work place Wellbeing" of the saw mill workers, occupational Hazards identification and Risk assessment (HIRA) including hazard communication, occupational accidents, injuries and diseases.
Settings and design: The study was a cross sectional study amongst workers of saw mills.
Methods and material: A total of 219 saw mill workers were interviewed. "Work place wellbeing", was studied by using the "Workplace Wellbeing Questionnaire - Black Dog Institute" which includes four areas of workplace wellbeing viz. (1) Work satisfaction, (2) Organizational respect for the employee, (3) Employer care, and (4) Intrusion of work into private life. Reliability analysis was done and Cronbach's alpha was found. Association was found between the work place wellbeing and other demographic and occupational variables.
Statistical analysis used: Proportions and Mann-Whitney U test.
Results: Scores of all the participants fall in the medium scale for "work satisfaction". For "respect", 93.6% fall in the medium scale. In "employer care" 97.7% fall in medium category. All the workers scored in the medium scale for the "intrusion in private life". None of the scores were in low scale for any domain. Injury as an event was reported by 8.22%. Specific disease prevalence was highest for back ache as 72.1%. Hazard communication was done in 40% workers.
Conclusions: We found poor working positions at work place and they did suffer from various medical morbidities at the work place.

Abstract Background: Growing childhood obesity epidemic is concerning the health of future generation in any country. Today’s competitive world is increasing the never ending pressure on children to excel in academic performance to ensure bright future. Hence, it is the need of the hour to understand the correlation between obesity and academic performance for implementation of the policies related to obesity prevention and treatment. Methods: 1034 school children were taken randomly according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, and they were divided into two groups: a) 5-11 years and b) 12-18 years. BMI (BMI), Waist Circumference (WC), the Waist-Height ratio (WHtR) and SSFT (Sum of Skinfold thickness) were taken to measure obesity, and the class teacher evaluated academic performance. Results: The prevalence of obesity when assessed by WC revealed highest values as compared to Waist-Height ratio, IOTF-BMI and SSFT. Spearman correlation between obesity (WC) and academic performance revealed that there was a significant negative moderate correlation in urban boys (r = -0.4, p<0.05) and girls (r = -0.3, p<0.05) of 5 -11 years’ age-group. There was no significant (r ranging from -0.02 to -0.7, p>0.05) correlation between obesity and academic performance in boys and girls of 12-18 years’ age-group. Conclusions: It is also concluded from the present study that obesity and academic performance of school children were negatively correlated in boys and girls of 5 -11 years of age but it was not found in 12-18 years of age. Influence of various confounding factors could not be isolated which could have also impacted the academic performance of the child.

Abstract Introduction: Dissatisfaction with job is invariably linked with decreased work performance. Discontent provider is more likely to face difficulty in caring for his patients and provide quality medical care. Thus, provider dissatisfaction results in patient dissatisfaction which deleteriously affects health outcomes. Aim: The study was undertaken with the objective of finding determinants of job satisfaction amongst Primary Health Centre (PHC) doctors in Anand, Gujarat, India. Materials and Methods: The present cross-sectional analytical study was conducted amongst 50 PHC Medical Officers (MO), MBBS and Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy (AYUSH) of Anand, Gujarat, India. Self-administered questionnaire method was used to obtain the responses from the participants. Job satisfaction was seen in four different heads/dimensions like “Workload”, “Relationships with Staff”, “Personal Difficulties” and “Availability of Infrastructure”. Some questions were in Likert scale and some questions were of dichotomous type. All the individual heads were summated to get a final score. Total scores ranged from 6-36. Categorical analysis of all the individual variables was also done. Face validity and consensual validity, and content validity of the questionnaire was checked. The data entry was done in excel and analysed using SPSS version 15.0. Qualitative as well as quantitative analysis was done. Mann-Whitney U test, and chisquare test were applied and values were calculated. Fisher’s exact test was also applied. Results: Out of total 50 MO, 33 (66.0%) were MBBS doctors and the rest were BAMS and BHMS doctors. Overall job satisfaction score was found to be significantly different amongst two groups (p=0.037). The two groups (MBBS and AYUSH) were statistically different in the workload scores (p=0.008). Conclusion: Overall job satisfaction scores were poor amongst PHC doctors. It was observed that doctors were unsatisfied on account of facilities in terms of good infrastructure, support services, good ...

Abstract The present research work was undertaken in brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) local types to identify suitable varieties for cultivation with morphological and nutraceutical traits under Anand (Gujarat) condition. The study revealed that significant differences were observed for most of the traits. Mean performance showed that AB-07-02 registered the highest fruit length followed by GBL-1. In case of fruit girth, fruit weight and fruit volume, data were recorded higher for GOB 1. From the nutrient point of view, Doli-5 for higher ascorbic acid and lower amount of glycoalkaloid, AB-09-01 for maximum acidity and total carbohydrates and AB-07-02 for higher anthocyanin were found. Hence these genotypes/varieties could be better utilized for further breeding programme.

Abstract Purpose: The aim of this review is to appraise the current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of os acetabuli.
Methods: A scoping review was conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines. A systematic search was performed on Medline (PubMed), Embase and Cochrane Library. Inclusion criteria comprised observational and interventional studies and review articles published in the English language that focused on patients with os acetabuli according to the PRISMA extension of scoping reviews checklist using the terms 'Os Acetabuli' or 'os acetabula' or 'acetabular ossicles'. A narrative synthesis of results was undertaken, and the included articles were divided into (i) definition, (ii) aetiology, (iii) diagnosis and imaging and (iv) management of os acetabuli.
Results: 107 articles were screened, with 22 meeting the eligibility criteria. A total of 8836 patients were considered, of which 604 had os acetabuli. The mean age was 32.8 years. The prevalence of os acetabuli ranged from 3.4 to 7.7%, with a higher prevalence in males compared to females. True os acetabuli was defined as an unfused secondary ossification centre along the acetabular rim. The aetiology of os acetabuli is thought to be secondary to acetabular dysplasia and/or femoroacetabular impingement. Standard of care for management of symptomatic os acetabuli is considered to be arthroscopic excision unless the excision results in acetabular undercoverage and/or instability, in which case, fixation is recommended.
Conclusions: Successful management of os acetabuli depends on understanding the pathology and treating the underlying cause rather than treating the os acetabuli in isolation. Future work needs to focus on establishing clear diagnostic criteria, consensus on definition and an evidence-based treatment algorithm.
