    Abstract Modern action recognition techniques frequently employ two networks: the spatial stream, which accepts input from RGB frames, and the temporal stream, which accepts input from optical flow. Recent researches use 3D convolutional neural networks that employ spatiotemporal filters on both streams. Although mixing flow with RGB enhances performance, correct optical flow computation is expensive and adds delay to action recognition. In this study, we present a method for training a 3D CNN using RGB frames that replicates the motion stream and, as a result, does not require flow calculation during testing. To begin, in contrast to the SE block, we suggest a channel excitation module (CE module). Experiments have shown that the CE module can improve the feature extraction capabilities of a 3D network and that the effect is superior to the SE block. Second, for action recognition training, we adopt a linear mix of loss based on knowledge distillation and standard cross-entropy loss to effectively leverage appearance and motion information. The Intensified Motion RGB Stream is the stream trained with this combined loss (IMRS). IMRS surpasses RGB or Flow as a single stream; for example, HMDB51 achieves 73.5% accuracy, while RGB and Flow streams score 65.6% and 69.1% accuracy, respectively. Extensive experiments confirm the effectiveness of our proposed method. The comparison with other models proves that our model has good competitiveness in behavior recognition.

    Abstract Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has the capability of assisting in the recovery of damaged tissues by releasing a variety of biologically active factors to initiate a hemostatic cascade reaction and promote the synthesis of new connective tissue and revascularization. It is now widely used for tissue engineering repair. In addition, PRP has demonstrated nerve repair and pain relief, and has been studied and applied to the facial nerve, median nerve, sciatic nerve, and central nerve. These suggest that PRP injection therapy has a positive effect on nerve repair. This indicates that PRP has high clinical value and potential application in nerve repair. It is worthwhile for scientists and medical workers to further explore and study PRP to expand its application in nerve repair, and to provide a more reliable scientific basis for the opening of a new approach to nerve repair.

    Abstract Specular Reflections often exist in the endoscopic image, which not only hurts many computer vision algorithms but also seriously interferes with the observation and judgment of the surgeon. The information behind the recovery specular reflection areas is a necessary pre-processing step in medical image analysis and application. The existing highlight detection method is usually only suitable for medium-brightness images. The existing highlight removal method is only applicable to images without large specular regions, when dealing with high-resolution medical images with complex texture information, not only does it have a poor recovery effect, but the algorithm operation efficiency is also low. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a specular reflection detection and removal method for endoscopic images based on brightness classification. It can effectively detect the specular regions in endoscopic images of different brightness and can improve the operating efficiency of the algorithm while restoring the texture structure information of the high-resolution image. In addition to achieving image brightness classification and enhancing the brightness component of low-brightness images, this method also includes two new steps: In the highlight detection phase, the adaptive threshold function that changes with the brightness of the image is used to detect absolute highlights. During the highlight recovery phase, the priority function of the exemplar-based image inpainting algorithm was modified to ensure reasonable and correct repairs. At the same time, local priority computing and adaptive local search strategies were used to improve algorithm efficiency and reduce error matching. The experimental results show that compared with the other state-of-the-art, our method shows better performance in terms of qualitative and quantitative evaluations, and the algorithm efficiency is greatly improved when processing high-resolution endoscopy images.

    Abstract The internal floating-roof tank is the main type of storage tank for refined oil products. The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission from the internal floating-roof tank plays a dominant role in the unorganized emission source of the oil depot. In this study, we selected six typical oil depots in Beijing to investigate VOC emission characteristics from the tank top vent hole using infrared imaging technology and flame ionization detector (FID). The results reveal that infrared thermal imager is efficient in quickly identifying the emission level of the tank discharge point. The ambient temperature and wind speed have a direct effect on sealing loss, the turnover can greatly influence the wall hanging loss, and the concentration of VOCs emitted from the tank top vent hole is negatively correlated with liquid height. Furthermore, the influence of accessories type of the internal floating-roof tank on the concentration of VOCs emission from the top vent hole is also studied when other parameters remain unchanged, and find the floating deck type and sealing mode have a significant influence on their VOCs emissions, of which the combination of pontoon type floating deck and secondary seal are effective in controlling the concentration of VOCs emitted from the tank top vent hole. Finally, based on our experimental results, several feasible emission reduction strategies are proposed in terms of source prevention and process control in order to achieve the fine management of the whole process. This paper provides important technical support and policy thoughts for VOCs emission control during oil storage.

    Abstract The endothelial glycocalyx is a negatively charged, carbohydrate-rich structure that arises from the luminal surface of the vascular endothelium and is comprised of proteoglycans, glycoproteins, and glycolipids. The glycocalyx, which sits at the interface between the endothelium and the blood, is involved in a wide array of physiological and pathophysiological processes, including as a mechanotransducer and as a regulator of inflammation. Most recently, components of the glycocalyx have been shown to play a key role in controlling angiogenesis. In this review, we briefly summarize the structure and function of the endothelial glycocalyx. We focus on its role and functions in vascular inflammation and angiogenesis and discuss the important unanswered questions in this field.

    Abstract The endothelial glycocalyx, located at the luminal surface of the endothelium, plays an important role in the regulation of leukocyte adhesion, vascular permeability, and vascular homeostasis. Endomucin (EMCN), a component of the endothelial glycocalyx, is a mucin-like transmembrane glycoprotein selectively expressed by venous and capillary endothelium. We have previously shown that knockdown of EMCN impairs retinal vascular development in vivo and vascular endothelial growth factor 165 isoform (VEGF165)-induced cell migration, proliferation, and tube formation by human retinal endothelial cells in vitro and that EMCN is essential for VEGF165-stimulated clathrin-mediated endocytosis and signaling of VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2). Clathrin-mediated endocytosis is an essential step in receptor signaling and is of paramount importance for a number of receptors for growth factors involved in angiogenesis. In this study, we further investigated the molecular mechanism underlying EMCN's involvement in the regulation of VEGF-induced endocytosis. In addition, we examined the specificity of EMCN's role in angiogenesis-related cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase endocytosis and signaling. We identified that EMCN interacts with AP2 complex, which is essential for clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Lack of EMCN did not affect clathrin recruitment to the AP2 complex following VEGF stimulation, but it is necessary for the interaction between VEGFR2 and the AP2 complex during endocytosis. EMCN does not inhibit VEGFR1 and FGFR1 internalization or their downstream activities since EMCN interacts with VEGFR2 but not VEGFR1 or FGFR1. Additionally, EMCN also regulates VEGF121-induced VEGFR2 phosphorylation and internalization.
