Abstract A delayed Traumatic Diaphragmatic Hernia is a rare diagnosis. A 38 years old male presented to our emergency department with an acute bowel obstruction. He had a prior trauma laparotomy twenty year's prior, which was reportedly negative. He required preoperative resuscitation for his severe hypokalaemic, hypochloraemic metabolic alkalosis, and acute renal failure. He underwent operative reduction of the incarcerated contents, and a primary permanent suture repair of the defect. The principles of the diagnosis of the delayed traumatic diaphragmatic hernia, and the operative repair of this entity have been reviewed.

Abstract While acute appendicitis and acute cholecystitis are both common, they are only rarely seen simultaneously. The clinical presentation and hospital course of a 45-year-old female with concurrent acute appendicitis and acute cholecystitis is presented. The laparoscopic approach is ideal for dealing with multiple, simultaenous abdominal pathologies.

Abstract Mucocele of the appendix is an uncommon disorder that is often asymptomatic, but can present similarly to acute appendicitis. Timely diagnosis and treatment is imperative due to the many complications that can result from the mucocele, such as perforation. Appendiceal mucoceles (AM) were previously thought to be either benign or malignant; however, a different pathological classification of AM is currently favored. Also, only a few cases of volvulus of a benign AM have been reported. Here, we present the first reported case of a low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm resulting in a volvulus of the cecum.

Abstract Non-operative management (NOM) of solid organ injury after trauma is a well accepted technique, however there is less experience in treatment of multiple simultaneous injuries. Experience with a 25-year-old male after a motor vehicle accident that resulted in both hepatic and right kidney injury is related. Both injuries were graded V. The literature for the treatment of NOM of these injuries is reviewed.

Abstract Mucocele of the appendix is uncommon and caused by a variety of pathologies. While the gold standard approach to these lesions has historically been exploratory laparotomy and right hemicolectomy, there is increasing experience with a minimally invasive approach and the resection limited to an appendectomy. A case is presented of an appendiceal mucocele diagnosed preoperatively and managed with a laparoscopic appendectomy. The pathology showed a low-grade mucinous neoplasm, with no evidence of recurrence on 30 month follow-up.
