Abstract Along with the miniaturization and versatility of organic optoelectronic devices, it is desired to achieve a profound comprehension of the charge transport mechanism and even the basic device physics. The basis of these studies is the acquisition of relevant information about energy levels. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of five commonly-used techniques, including cyclic voltammetry, ultraviolet electron spectroscopy, inverse photoemission electron spectroscopy, low energy inverse photoemission spectroscopy and hot electron spectroscopy. According to the advantages and disadvantages, working mechanism, and application conditions, researchers will screen out a reliable and suitable characterization method, quickly and accurately. This should be beneficial for the efficient promotion of organic electronics and save valuable time for the related research studies.

Abstract Public behavior in cyberspace is extremely sensitive to emergency disaster events. Using appropriate methodologies to capture the semantic evolution of social media users’ behaviors and discover how it varies across geographic space and time still presents a significant challenge. This study proposes a novel framework based on complex network, topic model, and GIS to describe the topic change of social media users’ behaviors during disaster events. The framework employs topic modeling to extract topics from social media texts, builds a user semantic evolution model based on a complex network to describe topic dynamics, and analyzes the spatio-temporal characteristics of public semantics evolution. The proposed framework has demonstrated its effectiveness in analyzing the semantic spatial–temporal evolution of Chinese Weibo user behavior during COVID-19. The semantic change in response to COVID-19 was characterized by obvious expansion, frequent change, and gradual stabilization over time. In this case, there were obvious geographical differences in users’ semantic changes, which were mainly concentrated in the capital and economically developed areas. The semantics of users finally focused on specific topics related to positivity, epidemic prevention, and factual comments. Our work provides new insight into the behavioral response to disasters and provides the basis for data-driven public sector decisions. In emergency situations, this model could improve situational assessment, assist decision makers to better comprehend public opinion, and support analysts in allocating resources of disaster relief appropriately.

Abstract The energy gap of molecular semiconductors is a critical parameter in molecule-based devices because it fundamentally determines the operating principle and device performance, such as the charge transfer driving force. Hence, an accurate quantification of the energy gap of a molecular semiconductor is essential. The hot electron technique, which is implemented using a hot electron transistor and ballistic electron emission microscope, has been verified as the most powerful characterization in recent years. By monitoring the charge transport on the metal/molecule interface, an electron-injection barrier (or LUMO) and hole-injection barrier (or HOMO) can be achieved, which contributes to the electronic energy gap determination. In this review, a comprehensive comparison of these two techniques was made. It helps us to select a suitable method in specific situations and provides a profound comprehension of the charge transport process in molecular semiconductor and molecule-based devices.

Abstract Autophagy is a highly evolutionary conserved process that degrades cytosolic macromolecules or damaged organelles (e.g., mitochondria), as well as intracellular pathogens for energy and survival. Dysfunction of autophagy has been associated with the pathologies of Alzheimer's disease (AD), including Aβ plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. Recently, the presence of sustained immune response in the brain has been considered a new core pathology in AD. Accumulating evidence suggests that autophagy activation may suppress inflammation response through degrading inflammasomes or pro-inflammatory cytokines and improving immune system function in both clinical trials and preclinical studies. This review provides an overview of updated information on autophagy and inflammation and their potential mediators in AD. In summary, we believe that understanding the relationship between autophagy and inflammation will provide insightful knowledge for future therapeutic implications in AD.

Abstract The development of a highly sensitive, synthetically simple and economical SERS substrate is technically very important. A fast, economical, sensitive and reproducible CuNPs@AgNPs@ Porous silicon Bragg reflector (PSB) SERS substrate was prepared by electrochemical etching and in situ reduction method. The developed CuNPs@AgNPs@PSB has a large specific surface area and abundant "hot spot" region, which makes the SERS performance excellent. Meanwhile, the successful synthesis of CuNPs@AgNPs can not only modulate the plasmon resonance properties of nanoparticles, but also effectively prolong the time stability of Cu nanoparticles. The basic performance of the substrate was evaluated using rhodamine 6G (R6G). (Detection limit reached 10
