The most important differential metabolites include flavonoids and lipids molecules, 11 flavonoids and 6 lipids molecules were significantly decreased in the BFW compared with NBF. After browning, 11 flavonoids and 7 lipids were further decreased in BFB compared with BFW. Meanwhile, the significantly enriched metabolic pathways include galactose metabolism, ABC membrane transporter protein, flavonoid biosynthesis and linoleic acid metabolism pathways et al. Physiological indicators show that, compared with NBF, the content of malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), superoxide anion (O₂⁻) in peel of BFW and BFB were significantly increased, and the difference of BFB was more significant. Meanwhile, the antioxidant enzyme activities of BFW and BFB were inhibited, which accelerated the destruction of cell structure. In addition, the metabolome and physiological data showed that the significantly decrease of flavonoid was positively correlated with peel browning. So, we analyzed the expression of flavonoid related genes and found that, compared with NBF, the flavonoid synthesis genes MdLAR and MdANR were significantly up-regulated in BFW and BFB, but, the downstream flavonoids-related polymeric genes MdLAC7 and MdLAC14 were also significantly expressed. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrated that the microenvironment of fruit was changed by bagging, the destruction of cell structure, the decrease of flavonoids and the increase of triterpenoids were the main reasons for the browning of peel.

Abstract Root-knot nematode disease seriously threatens the production of Rui yams, making it important to explore effective management strategies, including the optimal time for disease control and efficient application techniques. In this study, we monitored the dynamics of a root-knot nematode J2 population in the soil using field sampling; moreover, we investigated the dynamics of root-knot nematode disease using a field sampling and visual in situ device based on identifying species of root-knot nematodes in Rui yams. Additionally, experiments pertaining to optimal application time and techniques were conducted in Ruichang and Nanchang. This is the first study to propose that chemical control should be optimally timed, with one application administered at the time of yam seedling flush, and another given approximately 60 days later. Applications of a 41.7% fluopyram suspension (1426 g.a.i./hm²) and a 30% fosthiazate microencapsulated suspension (2925 g.a.i./hm²) achieved disease control effects of 81.56–83.15% and 75.95–78.42%, respectively. Additionally, the comparative analysis demonstrated that using uniform root layer application technology at the optimal time produces a control effect exceeding 80%, which is significantly higher than conventional techniques such as drip irrigation and root irrigation. These results provide theoretical and technical support for the efficient control of root-knot nematode disease in Rui yams.

Abstract The spatial distribution and seasonal variations of methylmercury (MeHg) in Wen-Rui-Tang (WRT) River network were investigated by monitoring the MeHg concentrations in surface water samples collected from 30 sites across the river network over four seasons. Detection frequencies and concentrations of MeHg were generally higher in January, indicating that low sunlight irradiation, wind speed, and temperature conditions might enhance the persistence of MeHg in surface water. The MeHg levels varied with sampling locations, with the highest concentrations being observed in the industrial area especially around wastewater outfall, revealing that the mercury contamination in WRT River mainly comes from the industrial wastewater. Photodegradation of MeHg in WRT River surface water and the effects of natural constituents such as fulvic acid (FA), ferric ions (Fe

The MeHg levels varied with sampling locations, with the highest concentrations being observed in the industrial area especially around wastewater outfall, revealing that the mercury contamination in WRT River mainly comes from the industrial wastewater. Photodegradation of MeHg in WRT River surface water and the effects of natural constituents such as fulvic acid (FA), ferric ions (Fe³⁺), nitrate (NO₃ ⁻), and dissolved oxygen on the MeHg photodegradation in aqueous solutions were studied under the simulated sunlight. The experimental data indicated that the indirect photodecomposition of MeHg occurred in WRT River surface water. Photodegradation of MeHg in FA solution was initiated by triplet ³FA* or MeHg-FA* via electron transfer interaction under light irradiations. The Fe³⁺ and NO₃ ⁻ can absorb light energy to produce ·OH and enhance the photochemical degradation of MeHg. The MeHg photodecompositions in FA, nitrate, and Fe³⁺ solutions were markedly accelerated after removing the dissolved oxygen.

Abstract Water quality degradation in river systems has caused great concerns all over the world. Identifying the spatial distribution and sources of water pollutants is the very first step for efficient water quality management. A set of water samples collected bimonthly at 12 monitoring sites in 2009 and 2010 were analyzed to determine the spatial distribution of critical parameters and to apportion the sources of pollutants in Wen-Rui-Tang (WRT) river watershed, near the East China Sea. The 12 monitoring sites were divided into three administrative zones of urban, suburban, and rural zones considering differences in land use and population density. Multivariate statistical methods [one-way analysis of variance, principal component analysis (PCA), and absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression (APCS-MLR) methods] were used to investigate the spatial distribution of water quality and to apportion the pollution sources. Results showed that most water quality parameters had no significant difference between the urban and suburban zones, whereas these two zones showed worse water quality than the rural zone. Based on PCA and APCS-MLR analysis, urban domestic sewage and commercial/service pollution, suburban domestic sewage along with fluorine point source pollution, and agricultural nonpoint source pollution with rural domestic sewage pollution were identified to the main pollution sources in urban, suburban, and rural zones, respectively. Understanding the water pollution characteristics of different administrative zones could put insights into effective water management policy-making especially in the area across various administrative zones.
