Abstract Yiyi Fuzi Baijiang Powder(YFBP), originating from Synopsis of the Golden Chamber, is a classic prescription composed of Coicis Semen, Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, and Patriniae Herba for the treatment of abscesses and pus discharge. This article presented a systematic analysis of the clinical application of YFBP, including the indicated diseases, the number of cases, efficacy, dosage, administration methods, and compatibility with other drugs. The analysis reveals that YFBP has a wide range of clinical applications. It is commonly used, often with modifications or in combination with western medicine, for diseases in the fields of gastroente-rology, gynecology, urology, dermatology, and others. And most of the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) evidence involved in these diseases are damp-heat evudence. The prescription shows rich variations in clinical administration methods, and most of which are the treatment of aqueous decoction of it. The therapeutic effect is also significant, and the total effective rate of clinical treatment is re-latively high. Additionally, this article summarized the pharmacological research on YFBP and found that it possessed various pharmacological effects, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, and immune-modulating properties. Finally, correlation analysis was conducted on the main diseases, TCM types, prescription doses, pharmacological effects and action targets of YFBP, which to show the relationship between these five aspects in a visual form, reflecting the relationship between its clinical application and modern pharmacological effects. These findings provide a reference basis for further development and research on YFBP.

Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance: Yiyi Fuzi Baijiang formula (YFB) is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription composed of Coix seed, Radix Aconiti Lateralis and Patrinia villosa, which has been used to treat ulcerative colitis (UC) for thousands of years.
Aim of the study: To investigate the therapeutic effect and metabolic analysis of YFB formula on UC in rats induced by 2,4,6-trinitro-benzene sulfonic acid (TNBS).
Materials and methods: Six main alkaloids in the YFB formula were determined by UPLC‒MS/MS. The rat UC model was induced by TNBS, and the therapeutic effect of YFB formula on UC was evaluated by disease activity index (DAI) score and hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. UPLC-QTRAP-MS metabolomics technology was used to screen potential biomarkers for YFB treatment of UC in combination with multivariate data statistics and further analyze related metabolic pathways. Western blotting was used to detect the protein levels of NLRP1, NLRP3, NLRC4, ASC, pro-caspase1 and Caspase-1 in rat liver tissues. ELISA and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the contents of interleukin (IL)-17A, IL-21, IL-22, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-18 in rat serum and liver tissues.
Results: The DAI scores of the YFB groups were significantly reduced, and colon tissue injury was significantly improved (p < 0.01). The results of metabolomics analysis revealed 29 potential biomarkers in serum and 27 potential biomarkers in liver. YFB formula can treat UC by affecting glycerophospholipid metabolism, primary bile acid biosynthesis, glyoxylic acid and dicarboxylic acid metabolism, and arginine and proline metabolism. Compared with the model group, the contents of IL-17A, IL-21, IL-22, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-18 in the YFB groups were decreased in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.01). Compared with those in the model group, the protein levels of NLRP1, NLRP3, NLRC4, ASC, pro-caspase1 and Caspase-1 in the YFB groups were significantly decreased in a dose-dependent manner (p < 0.01).
Conclusions: The therapeutic effect of YFB formula on UC rats was dose dependent, and the effect of the YFB (2.046 g/kg) group was close to that of the positive group. YFB formula has an anti-inflammatory effect on UC by regulating the balance of Th17/Treg cells in rats.

Abstract Objective: To systematically investigate the main active components, targets, target-related diseases and action mechanism of Yiyi Fuzi Baijiang powder (YFBP) of Zhang Zhongjing, a Chinese physician of Eastern Han Dynasty of China (3 century A.D.) using the method of network pharmacology. Methods: The active components of YFBP were identified from several databases (TCMSP, TCM Database@Taiwan and TCMID). The potential active compounds were screened based on oral bioavailability and drug-like index in the TCMSP database. DrugBank, TCMSP, and TCMID database searches were performed to predict target-related diseases. Biological functions and KEGG pathway outcomes of all potential targets were analyzed using the DAVID database. Results: A total of 24 active compounds of YFBP, 133 related targets, and 305 potential related diseases were obtained. These results showed that YFBP may treat inflammation, pain, and cancer. The functional enrichment analysis indicated that YFBP probably exerts its therapeutic effects by regulating neuroactive ligand-receptor interactions, the TNF signaling pathway, and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Conclusion: This study provides preliminary confirmation that YFBP has the great potentials to treat inflammation, pain, and tumors, which supports Zhang Zhongjing’s original intention to treat intestinal carbuncle with ancient prescription YFBP, but also provides a scientific basis for its treatment in the malignant tumors.

Abstract Migration is a frequent phenomenon in human history. Previous studies mainly used migration as a simple process to account for any cultural changes observed in migrant communities. Recent studies, however, have recognized that migration is embedded in both environmental and social contexts, thus making it necessary to study the consequence of migration on a case-by-case basis. To better understand the changes associated with migrational processes, this case study investigates the subsistence pattern of a Neolithic site (5300-4700 cal. BP), Liujiazhai, in Northwestern Sichuan Highland by employing microbotanical residue analysis on pottery vessels. Our results on millet phytolith contribute to the overall picture of millet agriculture in Yangshao and Majiayao migrant communities and enrich our understanding of how varying crop patterns in Neolithic western China are likely a consequence of migration. In addition, we suggest that Liujiazhai migrants adapted to the high-altitude environment by utilizing more local wild plant resources. This study shows that, although Yangshao migrants were still connected to their homeland in terms of material culture, relocating to the challenging environment in NW Sichuan requires adaptive strategies that diverged the Yangshao migrants, including Liujiazhai, from their home culture. Hence, this study exemplifies how migration is an agent of change.

Abstract Abstract Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is an effective model that identifies the potential risk in the management process. In FMEA, the priority of the failure mode is determined by the risk priority number. There is enormous uncertainty and ambiguity in the traditional FMEA because of the divergence between expert assessments. To address the uncertainty of expert assessments, this work proposes an improved method based on the belief divergence measure. This method uses the belief divergence measure to calculate the average divergence of expert assessments, which is regarded as the reciprocal of the average support of assessments. Then convert the relative support among different experts into the relative weight of the experts. In this way, we will obtain a result with higher reliability. Finally, two practical cases are used to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this method. The method can be used effectively in practical applications.
