Abstract Objective: To study on the cost-benefit from anemia and stunting reduction of Ying Yang Bao(YYB) intervention in 6 to 23 months rural infants in the six counties of Shanxi, Hubei and Yunnan provinces.
Methods: YYB was distributed to 6-23 months infants in 6 counties by YYB nutrition intervention project. The numbers of childhood recovered from stunting and anemia was collected by a designed project monitoring plan. The cost-benefit was analyzed with PROFILING model as a nutritional microeconomic tool.
Results: Total numbers of monitored infants was 10 672 while the total cost of YYB intervention was estimated 2.57 million RMB. From 2012 to 2020, the total benefit was 14.92 million RMB from recover of stunting and anemia by YYB project and the average cost-benefit ratio of 6 counties was 1∶5.8. Sensitivity analysis showed the result of this study was stable.
Conclusion: The YYB nutrition intervention for infants aged 6-23 months in the six counties of Shanxi, Hubei and Yunnan provinces showed a high cost-benefit ratio.

Abstract Coccidiosis is one of the most economically important diseases affecting the poultry industry. Currently, anticoccidial drugs used in veterinary clinics show many deficiencies, and new control measures are urgently needed. This study presents an anticoccidial herbal powder “Shi Yin Zi”, which consists of Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cuss, Taraxacum mongolicum Hand.-Mazz., and sodium chloride. In chickens infected with Eimeria tenella , supplementation with “Shi Yin Zi” powder for 3 d prior to infection or treatment with “Shi Yin Zi” powder after infection could improve the survival rate and relative growth rate and alleviate the pathological changes in the cecum, liver, and kidney. “Shi Yin Zi” powder could recover the levels of alanine aminotransferase, creatinine, albumin, and triglycerides in serum. The hemorrhage occurrence and total number of oocysts in feces were reduced. The anti-coccidial indexes reached 165 for the prophylactic effect and 144 for the therapeutic effect. The anti-coccidial effects were equal to positive controls (monensin and sulfamlopyrazine). These results suggest that “Shi Ying Zi” powder possesses a potent anticoccidial effect and exhibits the potential to control E. tenella infection.

Abstract To explore the mechanism of needling Ying method for treatment of sore throat. By the analysis of pathogenesis of sore throat, the authors think the key of its pathogenesis is stagnation of pathogenic factors such as hotness and phlegm accumulating, and meridian-vessel obstruction in the throat is its meridian foundation. There are several meridians passing through the throat, so the throat is closely related to viscera and meridians, and stagnation of pathogenic factors such as hotness and phlegm accumulating in the throat lead to sore throat when exogenous pathogenic factors invading or dysfunction of viscera and meridians. The treatment of needling Ying at local throat or combined with corresponding meridian point selection can dredge collaterals, dispel pathogenic factors, remove pathogenic factors to dispel swelling, resolve phlegm and dissipate stagnation and harmonize yin and yang, so as to relieve sore throat. In conclusion, needling Ying method is an important method in the treatment of sore throat.
