Abstract Objectives: Forgotten ureteral stents (FUS) may entail major complications such as infection, migration, encrustation, stone formation, and kidney failure. These complications increase with duration of stent indwelling. We discuss our experience of therapeutic approaches to treatment management of patients living with double J (DJ) stents for more than 10 years. Materials and Methods: Data for three patients living encrusted DJ stents for more than 10 years were evaluated retrospectively. Results: All three subjects stated that they did not present to physicians due to absence of typical stent symptoms (such as hematuria, flank pain, and urgency). All three patients presented to us with urinary tract symptoms. Advanced renal function loss was present in two patients, and non-functional kidney in one. Laparoscopic nephroureterectomy was performed on the patient with a non-functional kidney, and multimodal nephron-sparing surgery on the other two. Conclusions: Despite all the many advances in technology, long-term encrusted stents lead to sepsis and loss of kidney function. We think that not forgetting is the best means of protection against encrusted stent-related complications.

Abstract Introduction: This study was conducted to evaluate the accompanying psychosocial problems in enuresis as well as the social anxiety-depression levels in children diagnosed with enuresis.
Methods: This descriptive study investigating depression and social anxiety levels of children diagnosed with enuresis was carried out with 167 children who were followed up for at least six months following their enuresis diagnosis. All participating children had no other physical or mental illnesses and were aged five years or older. Data were collected using three measurement tools and evaluated using descriptive, correlational analyzes.
Results: In this study, 69.4% of the children diagnosed with enuresis were aged 7-12 years. 38.3% of their parents used "reward", while 37.1% preferred "punishment" as a method for toilet training their children. The children's depression and social anxiety mean scores were 21.48±7.29 and 54.58±8.84, respectively. A strong positive correlation was found between the children's mean depression and social anxiety scores (r=0.677, p<0.001). The median depression scores of children were found to be statistically significantly different according to the children's type of family, night sleep characteristics, type of enuresis, school success, and family life (p<0.05). Those with fragmented families (p=0.049), who did not sleep deeply at night (p=0.031), who slept for about 5-7 hours a day (p<0.01), and those whose school success was negatively affected by enuresis (p=0.021) and those who were exposed to negative family life (p=0.034) all obtained statistically significantly higher median depression scores.
Conclusion: Children with enuresis had low depression and moderate social anxiety and their depression increased as their social anxiety increased. The children experienced psychosocial difficulties due to enuresis. When treating children with enuresis, it is necessary to consider both the affected child and their families through the adoption of a holistic approach, and also to evaluate the children both physically and psychosocially.

Abstract Background: To evaluate hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (HALDN) in terms of intraoperative and postoperative results.
Methods: After institutional review board approval was obtained, a total of 1864 HALDN operations performed between March 2007 and January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Age, sex, body mass index (BMI), status of smoking and presence of previous abdominal surgery, laterality, operative time, transfusion requirement, port counts, length of extraction incision, time until mobilization, time until oral intake, donor serum creatinine levels before and one week after the surgery, length of postoperative hospital stay, intraoperative complications, and postoperative recovery and complications were recorded and statistically analyzed. Multiple renal arteries, BMI, right nephrectomy and male sex were also separately evaluated as risk factors for complications and operative time.
Results: A total of 825 (44.26%) male and 1039 (55.74%) female patients were enrolled in the study. The mean age of the patients was 45.79 ± 12.88 years. There were a total of 143 complications (7.67% of the total 1864 cases) consisting of 68 (3.65%) intraoperative and 75 (4.02%) postoperative complications. Open conversion was necessary for 10 patients (0.53%) to manage intraoperative complications. Reoperation was needed for 1 patient due to bleeding 6 h after the operation. Multiple renal arteries were a risk factor for intraoperative complications and prolonged operative time. Right nephrectomy and male sex were also related with longer operative times.
Discussion: HALDN is a safe procedure associated with low complication rates.

Title translation Análisis retrospectivo de las técnicas de uretroplastia de Mathieu y TIP (Tubularized Incision Plate) para la reparación del hipospadias distal. Veinte años de experiencia.
Abstract Objective: We aimed to identify the changes in the application rate of two surgical techniques in distal hypospadias repair in years and compare the most popular two surgical repair techniques for distal hypospadias in terms of surgical outcomes, the factors that affect the outcomes, which were performed over a 20 year period.
Methods: In this study, the records of 492 consecutive patients that had undergone an operation for distal hypospadias in the urology clinic of Ankara between May 1990 and December 2010 using either Mathieu or TIPU surgical techniques were reviewed retrospectively. The patients who had glanular, coronal, and subcoronal meatus, were accepted as distal hypospadias cases. Among the 492 examined medical records, it was revealed that 331 and 161 surgical interventions were performed by using the Mathieu urethroplasty technique (Group-1) and TIP urethroplasty technique (Group-2), respectively. Group-1 was divided into two subgroups; namely Group-1a (patients with primary hypospadias) and Group-1b (patients with previous hypospadias operation). Likewise, Group-2 was divided into two subgroups; namely group-2a and group-2b. The patients' ages, number of previously urethroplasty operations, localization of the external urethral meatus prior to the operation, chordee state, length of the newly formed urethra, whether urinary diversion was done or not, post-operative complications and data regarding the follow-up period were evaluated, and the effects of these variables on the surgical outcome were investigated via statistical analyses. The primary objective of this study is to identify the changes in the application rate of two surgical techniques in distal hypospadias repair over the a 20 year period, and the secondary objectives are to compare the most popular two surgical repair techniques for distal hypospadias in terms of surgical outcomes, and the factors affecting the outcomes. Independent samples t test and Pearson's Chisquare test was used for statistical analysis. p<0.05 was considered as statistically significant.
Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the subgroups in terms of age, length of the neo-urethra, number of previously performed urethroplasty operations, surgical success rates, or complications (p>0.05). The concurrent utilization of the cystostomy and urethral stent was significantly more frequent in group-1 (p<0.05; Pearson's Chi-square test). It was determined that over time, TIP urethroplasty has become a more preferred technique for the repair of distal hypospadias.
Conclusions: Both surgical techniques have similar success rates in distal hypospadias cases. TIP urethroplasty has become the method of choice over time.
