    Abstract Purpose: This study aimed to assess car-driving behaviors and attitudes and to measure the changes in the knowledge and behavioral practices associated with road safety measures of 1333 randomly selected young-adult participants (aged 18-24 years) from Jazan University in Gizan city, Saudi Arabia.
    Methods: Data were collected using cross-sectional survey and quasi experimental pre- and post-evaluation educational intervention study including structured questionnaire and take-home educational material.
    Results: Results revealed that low compliance with the safety index significantly increased the risk of traffic injuries by 20% [OR = 0.80, 95% CI = (0.59-1.01)]. Whereas the medium category of the safety compliance index is significantly associated with an increasing number of injuries by 6% [OR = 0.94, 95% CI = (0.61-1.52)]. In contrast, both high and medium categories of risk behavior index increased the risk of traffic injuries [OR = 1.08, 95% CI = (0.82-1.43); OR = 0.80, 95% CI = (0.57-1.10), respectively]. Some improvement in risky behavioral practices was seen after the intervention including 'not playing loud music' [86.3%, (P = 0.05)], 'not using mobile phones' [89.4%, (P < 0.05)], and 'not using unprofessional checkups of the car' [71.5%, (P < 0.05)].
    Conclusion: Ultimately, this unpleasant situation may recommend avoidance of these kinds of intermittent awareness programs; instead, embedding a continuous road safety learning within the life-long educational system as a better and more realistic intervention for reducing the number of road accidents and injuries. Further, establishing various modes of high-capacity city-link public transportation remains among the most recommended strategic and effective options that can curb road traffic injuries in the long run.

    Abstract This paper presents the formation tracking problem for non-holonomic automated guided vehicles. Specifically, we focus on a decentralized leader-follower approach using linear quadratic regulator control. We study the impact of communication packet loss-containing the position of the leader-on the performance of the presented formation control scheme. The simulation results indicate that packet loss degrades the formation control performance. In order to improve the control performance under packet loss, we propose the use of a long short-term memory neural network to predict the position of the leader by the followers in the event of packet loss. The proposed scheme is compared with two other prediction methods, namely, memory consensus protocol and gated recurrent unit. The simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the long short-term memory in packet loss compensation in comparison with memory consensus protocol and gated recurrent unit.

    Abstract This is a case of an orbital abscess evidenced radiologically in a 41-year-old female with no comorbidities. She was healthy and had no history of trauma or infection of the adjacent structures. She denied having symptoms of upper or lower respiratory and urinary tract infections. The decision for surgical drainage was made following a slow response to antimicrobial agents after 24 hours, a progressive painful erythematous eyelid swelling, and further deterioration of vision. Her clinical condition and visual acuity improved following cutaneous incision and drainage. Culture and sensitivity results for urine and orbital abscess were positive for Staphylococcus (S.) aureus. The patient regained full visual recovery without any sequelae. In conclusion, an orbital abscess is a blinding and life-threatening condition that rarely occurs in immunocompetent individuals and uncommonly arises from distant sources. A high index of suspicion, early institution of appropriate diagnostic imaging, and aggressive medical and surgical treatment are necessary for a favorable visual outcome in orbital abscess cases.

    Abstract Using DNA as the medium to store information has recently been recognized as a promising solution for long-term data storage. While several system prototypes have been demonstrated, the error characteristics in DNA data storage are discussed with limited content. Due to the data and process variations from experiment to experiment, the error variation and its effect on data recovery remain to be uncovered. To close the gap, we systematically investigate the storage channel, i.e., error characteristics in the storage process. In this work, we first propose a new concept named sequence corruption to unify the error characteristics into the sequence level, easing the channel analysis. Then we derived the formulations of the data imperfection at the decoder including both sequence loss and sequence corruption, revealing the decoding demand and monitoring the data recovery. Furthermore, we extensively explored several data-dependent unevenness observed in the base error patterns and studied a few potential factors and their impacts on the data imperfection at the decoder both theoretically and experimentally. The results presented here introduce a more comprehensive channel model and offer a new angle towards the data recovery issue in DNA data storage by further elucidating the error characteristics of the storage process.

    Abstract Teaching methodology has a great impact on the learning outcomes in an undergraduate's education. Objectives: 1. To assess the effectiveness of small group discussions (SGD) over lecture in learning the principles of family medicine among 2nd-year MBBS students. 2. To assess the perception of students on SGD over lecture in learning principles of family medicine among 2nd-year MBBS students. Materials and Methods: This medical education, quasi-experimental study was conducted at a medical college in north Kerala. Study subjects were the 2nd-year MBBS students of this college. They participated after giving informed consent and were divided into two groups using serial roll number. The study was conducted for 2 months after getting ethical clearance. Study tools included PowerPoint presentation slides, literature regarding principles of family medicine, structured questionnaire, and question paper for posttest. Statistical analysis was done with an independent sample Z-test and Mann-Whitney test, using SPSS 20 software. Results: SGD show a definite advantage over lecture-based learning in improving the attention span of students, understanding the principles of family medicine, and recall. The scores for the overall learning experience was found to be significantly higher for SGD. Evaluating the effectiveness of training on the Kirkpatrick model showed that learners show better satisfaction and learning in small groups. Conclusion: Students strongly preferred SGD over lectures as the teaching-learning methodology for principles of family medicine. SGD is a more effective instructional tool in improving the attention span of students, understanding the principles of family medicine, and recall. The overall learning satisfaction was found to be significantly higher with SGD for learning the principles of family medicine.

    Abstract Background: Neonatal nasal obstruction may result in respiratory distress, feeding difficulties, sleep apnoea and failure to thrive; hence, it requires thorough evaluation and prompt intervention. Congenital inferior turbinate hypertrophy is relatively uncommon, and its presentation can mimic other congenital nasal anomalies.
    Relevance: This paper reports two cases of congenital inferior turbinate hypertrophy in neonates that resulted in significant respiratory distress, feeding difficulties and sleep disturbance. Both patients were successfully treated surgically by endoscopic nasal dilatation and stenting. A literature search was performed to identify articles on congenital inferior turbinate hypertrophy in neonates and its management.
    Conclusion: Albeit rare, congenital inferior turbinate hypertrophy should be considered a differential diagnosis in newborns presenting with respiratory distress at birth.

    Abstract Acquiring an optically transparent feature on the wideband frequency selective surface (FSS), particularly for smart city applications (building window and transportation services) and vehicle windows, is a challenging task. Hence, this study assessed the performance of optically transparent mosaic frequency selective surfaces (MFSS) with a conductive metallic element unit cell that integrated Koch fractal and double hexagonal loop fabricated on a polycarbonate substrate. The opaque and transparent features of the MFSS were studied. While the study on opaque MFSS revealed the advantage of having wideband responses, the study on transparent MFSS was performed to determine the optical transparency application with wideband feature. To comprehend the MFSS design, the evolutionary influence of the unit cell on the performance of MFSS was investigated and discussed thoroughly in this paper. Both the opaque and transparent MFSS yielded wideband bandstop and bandpass responses with low cross-polarisation (-37 dB), whereas the angular stability was limited to only 25°. The transparent MFSS displayed high-level transparency exceeding 70%. Both the simulated and measured performance comparison exhibited good correlation for both opaque and transparent MFSS. The proposed transparent MFSS with wideband frequency response and low cross-polarisation features signified a promising filtering potential in multiple applications.

    Abstract A low-profile and wide-angle radiation pattern reconfigurable antenna is designed, analyzed, and fabricated for wireless sensor network (WSN) applications, which operate at a 2.5-GHz frequency. This work aims to minimize the number of switches and optimize the parasitic size and ground plane to achieve a steering angle of more than 30° using a low cost-high loss FR-4 substrate. The radiation pattern reconfigurability is achieved by introducing four parasitic elements surrounding a driven element.     Abstract The Kenyir Lake side community offers numerous advantages to the local community. However, the problems of backwardness and poverty have been identified as the government's main challenges in its efforts to develop the community and maximise the advantages. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the Kenyir Lake community's profile and assess its well-being. The study was conducted in three sub-districts near Tasik Kenyir, namely Kuala Berang, Hulu Telemong, and Jenagor, with a total of 510 respondents, who are heads of households (HOH). This study was carried out using a quantitative approach using questionnaire with a simple random sampling method. The findings of this study offered demographic profiling and discovered nine indicators of well-being, namely 1) Life Achievement, 2) Health Level, 3) Family Relationship, 4) Community Relationship, 5) Spiritual Level, 6) Safety Level and Social Problems, 7) Income or Finance, 8) Basic Facilities, and 9) Communication Technology. The study found that most respondents are satisfied with their lives now compared to 10 years ago. This study will help many parties to develop the Kenyir Lake Side Community, starting from the local authorities to the highest administration in the country.

    Abstract Considering the double burden of malnutrition in Malaysia, data on malnourished children living in welfare homes are limited. This study aimed to determine the body weight status of children living in welfare homes and its associated factors. A total of 307 children aged 7⁻17 years old living in 15 selected welfare homes completed a standardized questionnaire, and their body weight and height were measured by trained researchers. There were 54.4% orphans, 23.8% abandoned children, and 21.8% children from problematic families. There were 51.5% boys and 48.5% girls; 52.4% were Malays, followed by 31.3% Indians, 12.7% Chinese, and 3.6% from other ethnic groups. The prevalence of overweight and obesity (23.1%) was higher than the prevalence of thinness (8.5%). In bivariate analyses, socio-demographic factors of age (
