Abstract In this paper, a recent yet powerful technique for classification of datasets is presented. The paper contributes to highlight the importance of an ensemble approach over individual classifiers to achieve better classification accuracy of a classifier. In this paper, given dataset is divided into a number of parts to constitute an ensemble. The ensemble combines these classifiers. An unknown data pattern is tested on the ensemble. Using bagging, majority of voting technique, the performance of ensemble is determined on different sections of datasets. In the paper, six bench mark datasets are used for investigation. Each dataset is trained with 80%, 60% and 50% of the data patterns for classification. The number of classifiers in an ensemble for each data set is changed to 5,7 and 9. As a typical case, k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) classifiers are used with the values of k varying to 1,3 and 5. The classification accuracies of individual classifiers and those of ensembles are computed at each case. After extensive experiments of proposed scheme, by taking random shuffling and selection of data patterns for training and testing, it is observed that in every case, the classification accuracy obtained by ensemble is higher than that obtained by individual classifier.

Abstract Abstract Dendritic silicone core polyimides have been synthesized using silicone anhydride dendrimers which inturn were synthesized by the hydrosilation reaction of maleic anhydride with Si-H terminated silicone dendrimers in presence of Speiers catalyst. The anhydride groups were converted to imide functionality by the reaction of aromatic diamines at elevated temperatures. All the products were characterized by usual physico-chemical method i.e. elemental analysis FT-IR and 1H- NMR spectroscopy. The molecular weights of dendrimers were determined by using vapor pressure osmometry. The dendritic polyimides have shown fairly good solubility in polar aprotic solvents e.g. N N-dimethylacetamide DMAc N N-dimethylformamide DMF N methyl-2 pyrrolidone NMP etc. Thermal studies TGA amp DSC of these compounds have also been studied under inert atmosphere which have shown high char yield 65 at 800 C and thermal stability above 400 C. The glass transition temperature of these imides was found in the range of 170-190 C.

Abstract During August 2016, banded leaf and sheath blight symptoms were observed on sugarcane (cv. BO-91) in the Village Bhawanipur of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh (India). A survey was done to assess the prevalence of and collect the specimens of banded leaf and sheath blight disease from sugarcane fields in the Ghazipur district during 2016–17. A total of 15 fungal isolates were collected from different parts of the district and pathogenicity testing of these isolates was done following Koch postulates. All the 15 isolates were able to produce disease in the controlled laboratory conditions as well as in the field. Further, these isolates were morphologically characterized as Rhizoctonia solani. To confirm the identity at molecular level, ITS sequencing of two most virulent isolates was done. Based on the ITS sequence similarity, these two isolates, viz. SCRS-2018-1A and SCRS-2018-1B were identified as R. solani. As per the existing records and our knowledge based on the extensive survey of pertinent literature, this is the first report of R. solani causing banded leaf and sheath blight disease in Sugarcane from Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Abstract Out of the four phthirapteran species known to occur, only two were recovered from the goats in district Rampur (ischnoceran louse, Bovicola caprae and the anopluran, Linognathus africanus). As many as, 26.5% (n = 250) of the goats examined were found infested with Phthiraptera. The prevalence on two sexes of goats remained similar (X ² = 0.013, P < 0.05). However, lice were more prevalent on younger goats than adults and older ones (X ² = 9.78, P < 0.05). The correlation between the prevalence and mean monthly temperature of Phthiraptera was found significant. On the other hand correlation between prevalence and humidity was found insignificant. As many as, 74.5% of the infested goats carried both the species while 25.4% exhibited single species infestation. The ischnoceran louse, B. caprae was comparatively more prevalent (18.4%) than the anopluran L. africanus (11.2%). The mean intensity (mean number of lice counted per square inch, at 20 anatomical sites) of B. caprae was comparatively higher than that of L. africanus. As far as, the population composition is concerned the females outnumbered the males in natural population. On the other hands, nymphs dominated over adults in natural population.

Abstract The Long Trace Profilometer (LTP) is a non-contact optical profiling instrument, designed to measure the absolute surface figure to nanometer accuracy of long strip flat, spherical and aspherical X-ray optics of up to 1200mm in length of distance. A key feature of the LTP is the wide range of surface shapes that it can measure. The ease of alignment and great flexibility are a result of the unique LTP optical system. The direct slope measuring capability of the LTP has proven to be very valuable in the measurement of synchrotron beam line optics and other x-ray mirrors[2]. A new polarization Shearing Interferometer based Long Trace Profilometer has been developed and built at Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore. This paper gives details of the data reduction software for profile calculation at sub pixel level accuracy.

Abstract Introduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate techniques and establish an optimal method for mechanical elongation of small intestine (MESI) using screws in a rodent model in order to develop a potential therapy for short bowel syndrome (SBS). Material and Methods. Adult female Sprague Dawley rats (n=24) with body weight from 250 to 300 g (Σ=283) were evaluated using 5 different groups in which the basic denominator for the technique involved the fixation of a blind loop of the intestine on the abdominal wall with the placement of a screw in the lumen secured to the abdominal wall. Results. In all groups with accessible screws, the rodents removed the implants despite the use of washers or suits to prevent removal. Subcutaneous placement of the screw combined with antibiotic treatment and dietary modifications was finally successful. In two animals autologous transplantation of the lengthened intestinal segment was successful. Discussion. While the rodent model may provide useful basic information on mechanical intestinal lengthening, further investigations should be performed in larger animals to make use of the translational nature of MESI in human SBS treatment.
