Abstract A 20-year-old male presented with esotropia in both the eyes with limitation of abduction and elevation. He also had low vision in both the eyes since childhood. Radiological imaging demonstrated a nasally deviated superior rectus and inferiorly displaced lateral rectus. He was diagnosed to be a case of bilateral myopic strabismus fixus. Silicone band-assisted myopexy of superior and lateral rectus was done along with passing the band through the scleral tunnel. The patient had satisfactory alignment postoperatively and did not require any intervention over 1-year follow-up. Scleral fixation has an advantage as it prevents migration of band, and passing the scleral band through the scleral tunnel lowers the risk of scleral perforation as it does not require the need for passing suture needle through the sclera once the tunnel is made.

Abstract The increasing affordability of solar technology in India will lead to solar segment expansion in the future. To demonstrate this adoption factor specifically, this study examines the factors that contribute to rooftop solar adoption in the Agra region containing Technology readiness, attitudes, and purchase intentions along with moderators (Macro-environmental factors, and usage). We used the Importance Performance Map Analysis technique and recruited 225 individuals (n = 103 women, n = 122 males) for this study. The findings demonstrate that purchasing intentions toward rooftop solar are strongly influenced by attitude, which in turn is directly impacted by innovativeness. Additionally, the perceptions of each gender group in the Agra region of important macro-environmental factors impacting rooftop solar adoption differ based on the users' economic status and their experiences with rooftop solar. Surprisingly, researchers discovered that the millennial generation's adoption of rooftop solar in the Agra region was unaffected by gender or age. Lastly, Implications, Limitations, and Future directions have been discussed.

Abstract Visual rehabilitation is an effective method for increasing the quality of life among individuals with low vision or blindness due to untreatable causes. Low vision rehabilitation aims for patients to use their residual vision effectively and efficiently to enable them to live independent and productive lives. Low vision rehabilitation includes assessment of residual visual functions, prescription of rehabilitation aids, and training in the use of devices. A multidisciplinary approach and coordinated effort are necessary to take advantage of new scientific advances and achieve optimal results for the patient. This article aims to review the various aids and methods available for low vision rehabilitation and also discusses technology advances that can enhance the visual functioning of individuals who are visually impaired.

Abstract Purpose: Glaucoma influences vision-related quality of life (VRQoL) of an individual in various ways. There are very limited studies on the Indian population and the northern part of India. Therefore, we conducted the present study to evaluate VRQoL in glaucoma patients as well as the association between the severity of glaucoma and VRQoL.
Methods: An institution-based, cross-sectional, analytical study was conducted from August 2022 to October 2022 involving 190 participants (95 glaucoma patients and 95 controls). The glaucoma quality of life-15 (GQL-15) questionnaire was explained in their vernacular language by the interviewer. The scoring was given according to the validated scoring algorithm for the questionnaire.
Results: Mean GQL score in the control group was 19.66 ± 5.5 and in glaucoma cases was 32.8 ± 10.2, whereas the mean score of mild glaucoma cases was 22.3 ± 4.83, moderate glaucoma cases was 36.3 ± 4.09, and severe glaucoma cases was 47.24 ± 3.03. Therefore, as the severity of glaucoma increases, the GQL score also increases, indicating poorer quality of life. Visual field loss was strongly positively correlated (correlation coefficient = 0.759, P < 0.01) with the GQL-15 score, while a weaker positive correlation was found with best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), cup disc ratio, and duration of treatment.
Conclusion: Besides controlling or reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) to the target level, the goal of glaucoma treatment should be to provide an individual with good functional vision to maintain an acceptable quality of life. It would also help in providing patients with the best possible treatment, not only in terms of good vision but also in maintaining or improving their overall quality of life.

Abstract Aims: Only limited Indian data is available regarding the food allergy pattern among allergic rhinitis patients in Indian population. This study aims to assess the pattern of food allergen sensitivity amongst allergic rhinitis patients in central India.
Material and methods: A total of 218 subjects with allergic rhinitis were enrolled in the study (from May 2018 to August 2022). Skin prick test was done in all subjects with proper technique and precautions by using 125 common food allergens and 75 aero allergens. The test readings were noted after 20 minutes by comparing the wheals so formed with the negative control of Saline and positive control of Histamine. Any reaction with a wheal diameter of 3mm or greater was considered as positive.
Results: While test results of both food and inhalant allergens were issued to individual patients, this study was restricted to detection and analysis of pattern of food allergens. Our study observed male preponderance with predominantly a third decade affliction. The most common food allergen in the study population was beetle nut (29.3%) followed by chilli powder and spinach (28.8% each).
Conclusion: Along with aeroallergens, food allergens are also important provocateurs of allergic rhinitis. Diagnosing the offending food allergens and its avoidance reduces patient morbidity, need for pharmaceutical agents and subsequently drug dependence and its side effects. Offering subjects a replacement diet with food items of similar taste and nutritive character helps in sustainable avoidance therapy.

Abstract Context: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a major cause of visual disability leading to irreversible blindness. Awareness of diabetes and its ocular co-morbidities may help in preventing vision loss.
Aim: To assess the awareness of diabetic retinopathy among diabetic mellitus patients visiting a hospital in North India.
Setting and design: Cross-sectional study conducted at an outpatient clinic of ophthalmology department of a hospital.
Materials and methods: An interviewer-administered, pre-tested, semi-structured questionnaire was used to evaluate the awareness of DR for the period from July 2020 to January 2021.
Results: A total of 272 patients with diabetes mellitus (44.4% females and 55.5% males) were included in the study. The mean age of the study population was 53.4 ± 10 years. Of the 272 patients, 79% were aware that diabetes can affect the eyes, and 69.5% knew that DR can lead to blindness. Regarding prevention and treatment of DR, 58.1% of patients were aware that good glycemic control prevents DR and 52.6% knew that DR can be treated. Physicians were the main source of information in 47.4% of patients. The participants were not compliant with a routine retinal assessment with only 26.5% of them having previous fundus examination for DR screening.
Conclusion: Most of the participants were aware of DR but there existed major deficits in the knowledge and behavior of diabetic patients toward management of DR. There is a need to create awareness about DR and emphasize the importance of retinal screening to reduce visual disability caused by diabetes.

Abstract Laser hyaloidotomy with Nd: YAG or green argon laser is a non-invasive, out-patient procedure in which the posterior hyaloid face is punctured and the opening enables the drainage of sub-hyaloid haemorrhage into the vitreous. The blood is absorbed gradually and vision is improved within days with gradual clearance of the macular area. Researchers recommend laser treatment in recent haemorrhages (<2 weeks) while for delayed cases invasive surgeries are advised. We report a case of delayed presentation of sub-hyaloid haemorrhage (>3 weeks) treated successfully with laser hyaloidotomy.
