Abstract A magnetic MWCNTs@MgAl₂O₄@TiO₂ novel nanocomposite was synthesized using the sol-gel method. The characterization of synthesized nanocomposite was done using FTIR, XRD, and SEM techniques. The adsorbent was used for dispersive solid-phase extraction of Pb(II). The analytical parameters that affect the extraction recovery of the analyte were optimized, involving the pH, adsorbent amount, sample volume, and interfering ions. The figures of merit such as preconcentration factor (PF), the limit of detection (LOD), the limit of quantification (LOQ), correlation coefficient (R²) and relative standard deviation (RSD) of Pb(II) are 100, 0.42 μg L⁻¹, 1.39 μg L⁻¹, 0.996 % and 4.1 % respectively. TMDA 64.3 fortified lake water and NCS DC 73349 bush, branches and leaves certified reference materials were used to validate the presented procedure. The synthesized adsorbent was used for separation-preconcentration and determination Pb(II) from water and food samples prior to its determination by FAAS.

Abstract A new adsorbent (magnetic Luffa@MOF-199) was synthesized and used for magnetic solid phase microextraction for separation–preconcentration of Ni(II), Pb(II), Cr(III), and Cd(II) as 2-nitroso-2-naphthol chelates prior to their flame atomic absorption spectrometer (FAAS) detection. Analytical parameters that affect the quantitative recoveries of analytes such as pH, adsorbent amount, sample and eluent volumes, adsorption and desorption time, and eluent type were optimized. The impact of foreign ions was investigated. The limits of quantification (LOQ) values were 0.35 μg L⁻¹ for Ni(II), 0.38 μg L⁻¹ for Pb(II), 0.55 μg L¹⁻ for Cr(III) and 0.12 μg L⁻¹ for Cd(II). The relative standard deviations (RSD) were in the range of 3.4 – 6.0%. The developed method was validated using certified reference materials (CRMs) (TMDA-64.3 fortified water, GBW07424 (GSS-10) soil and 1573a Tomato Leaves). The method was applied -for determination of Ni(II), Pb(II), Cr(III), and Cd(II) contents of some food, tobacco, and wastewater samples.

Abstract A novel magnetic Luffa@TiO₂ sorbent was synthesized and characterized by using XRD, FTIR and SEM techniques. Magnetic Luffa@TiO₂ was used for solid phase extraction of Pb(II) in food and water samples prior to its flame atomic absorption spectrometric (FAAS) detection. The analytical parameters such as pH, adsorbent quantity, type and volume of eluent, and foreign ions were optimized. Analytical features such as the limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) of Pb(II) are 0.04 μg L⁻¹ and 0.13 μg L⁻¹ for liquid samples and 0.159 ng/g and 0.529 ng/g for solid samples, respectively. The preconcentration factor (PF) and relative standard deviation (RSD%) were found 50, and 4 % respectively. The method was validated by using three certified reference materials (NIST SRM 1577b bovine liver, TMDA-53.3 and TMDA-64.3fortified water). The presented method was applied to lead contents of some food and natural water samples.
