    Abstract Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship of central corneal thickness (CCT) with age, sex, refractive status, and keratometry (KM). Materials and Methods: In our cross-sectional study, 1000 eyes of 500 patients from the outpatient department were randomly selected between July 2014 and December 2015. CCT was measured with a Humphrey ultrasonic pachymeter. Horizontal and vertical curvatures of the cornea were measured with a Bausch and Lomb keratometer, and its mean was calculated. Refractive state was measured with a Priestley-Smith retinoscope and converted to spherical equivalent (SE). The patients were divided into three age groups (Group A [16–30 years], Group B [31–45 years], and Group C [46–60 years]), and the data were analyzed statistically by the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences programme. Results: The mean SE, KM, and CCT of the patients under the study were(-) 0.47 ± 2.26, 43.79 ± 1.18D, and 528.41 ± 19.1 μm. The mean CCT was higher in age Group C (46–60 years) than other groups (P = 0.008), but we found that an increase in age has no impact on CCT after regression analysis. CCT was not affected by sex (p = 0.168). The mean CCT for myopic patients was 522.87 ± 18.03 μm, which was less compared to 536.39 ± 17.753 μm in hypermetropic patients (p ≤ 0.001). Positive correlation was found between CCT and SE (r = 0.520,P≤ 0.001). KM showed negative correlation with CCT (r = −0.288,p≤ 0.001). Conclusion: From our study, we concluded that CCT was related to age, refractive status, and KM, but not to sex.

    Abstract Nipah virus (NiV) is an emerging zoonotic virus that caused several serious outbreaks in the south asian region with high mortality rates ranging from 40 to 90% since 2001. NiV infection causes lethal encephalitis and respiratory disease with the symptom of endothelial cell-cell fusion. No specific and effective vaccine has yet been reported against NiV. To address the urgent need for a specific and effective vaccine against NiV infection, in the present study, we have designed two Multi-Epitope Vaccines (MEVs) composed of 33 Cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) epitopes and 38 Helper T lymphocyte (HTL) epitopes. Out of those CTL and HTL combined 71 epitopes, 61 novel epitopes targeting nine different NiV proteins were not used before for vaccine design. Codon optimization for the cDNA of both the designed MEVs might ensure high expression potential in the human cell line as stable proteins. Both MEVs carry potential B cell linear epitope overlapping regions, B cell discontinuous epitopes as well as IFN-γ inducing epitopes. Additional criteria such as sequence consensus amongst CTL, HTL and B Cell epitopes was implemented for the design of final constructs constituting MEVs. Hence, the designed MEVs carry the potential to elicit cell-mediated as well as humoral immune response. Selected overlapping CTL and HTL epitopes were validated for their stable molecular interactions with HLA class I and II alleles and in case of CTL epitopes with human Transporter Associated with antigen Processing (TAP) cavity. The structure based epitope cross validation for interaction with TAP cavity was used as another criteria choosing final epitopes for NiV MEVs. Finally, human Beta-defensin 2 and Beta-defensin 3 were used as adjuvants to enhance the immune response of both the MEVs. Molecular dynamics simulation studies of MEVs-TLR3 ectodomain (Human Toll-Like Receptor 3) complex indicated the stable molecular interaction.     Abstract Electrical Power Network in recent time requires an intelligent, virtual environment based decision process for the coordination of all its individual elements and the interrelated tasks. Its ultimate goal is to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency through the efficient and effective application of generation, transmission, distribution, pricing and regulatory systems. However, the complexity of electrical power network and the presence of conflicting multiple goals and objectives postulated by various groups emphasized the need of an intelligent group decision support system approach in this field. In this paper, an Integrated Multimedia based Intelligent Group Decision Support System (IM1GDSS) is presented, and its main components are analyzed and discussed. In particular attention is focused on the Data Base, Model Base, Central Black Board (CBB) and Multicriteria Futuristic Decision Process (MFDP) module. The model base interacts with Electrical Power Network Load Forecasting and Planning (EPNLFP) Module; Resource Optimization, Modeling and Simulation (ROMAS) Module; Electrical Power Network Control and Evaluation Process (EPNCAEP) Module, and MFDP Module through CBB for strategic planning, management control, operational planning and transaction processing. The richness of multimedia channels adds a totally new dimension in a group decision making for Electrical Power Network. The proposed IMIGDSS is a user friendly, highly interactive group decision making system, based on efficient intelligent and multimedia communication support for group discussions, retrieval of content and multi criteria decision analysis.
