One response takes the form of an educational programme led by professional midwives to teach traditional birth attendants to recognize risk conditions and improve their care of mothers and babies. Such a programme was organized as part of a Canadian-Nigerian safe motherhood initiative, and carried out in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. |
